Poll says Santorum Has Big Lead in Pa. Easily outdistances Republican rivals Intelligencer Journal Lancaster New Era Updated Feb 24, 2012 By TOM MURSE

Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum has surged to a 29-point lead over the other three Republican presidential hopefuls in Pennsylvania, a state he represented for more than a decade, a new poll shows.

And he has narrowed the gap between himself and President Barack Obama in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup among all registered voters in the state, which hasn't sided with a Republican nominee in nearly 25 years.

The findings, from a new statewide Franklin & Marshall College poll, reflect Santorum's growing support, particularly among tea party and evangelical voters, following a popular-vote sweep of three states earlier this month.

"Santorum had something the other candidates didn't, and that is a niche with social conservatives," said G. Terry Madonna, the poll director and head of F&M's Center for Politics and Public Affairs. "Even though the election was all about the economy, he continued to bring up the social issues, and that allowed him to have a core of support."

The poll shows Santorum leading his nearest rival, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, 45 percent to 16 percent among Republican voters here. Many observers presumed Romney would be a shoo-in for the nomination, at least until Santorum won the popular votes in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri.

Newt Gingrich, a former House speaker whose campaign is being led by former Congressman Bob Walker of Manheim Township, is getting support from 9 percent of voters and U.S. Rep. Ron Paul is getting 7 percent. Twenty-two percent of Republicans are still undecided, and 1 percent indicated support for another candidate.

At least Rick ran again - unlike mittens, who knew he was going to lose governorship. What a gutless wonder he is. PA has been blue for many years. They now have a Republican governor. Is it possible the state will go red this election cycle?

I don’t know that any moder American President has ever won the presidency but first lost his own home state in the primary. Mitt Romney’s piss-poor if not deplorable Michigan performance in Daddy’s state (and his growing up state), where he outspent Rick by gazillions, had the hold GOP Party Infrastructure behind him, ran merciless spots and robocalls, and still just eeked out a victory, speaks volumes of that sad man.

Talk about "Conservative Revolution"!

Somewhere today I heard on the radio, that after Newt Gingrich had seized the speakership of the GOP (good job!), he squandered it and that within 2 years he had the position threatened by a Conservative (attempted) Political Coup'd'etat movement within the caucus, a Conservative Revolution if you will, by Conservative GOP Members of the House, since the Speaker had swerved too far away from principles and shaved off numbers of GOP elected to subsequent congresses....that this coup failed because of being tipped off by Dick Armey.

COULD THIS BE TRUE??

Gingrich lost Florida do to his own disaster in a debate that was the most entertaining in a long time. Newt looked like he was scared out of his wits when Romney gave it to him on owning Fanny-Freddie stocks. It was Newt saying “Damn he found out. I was trying to keep that under wraps.” That was the worst debate performance since Perry and his Oops.

72 delegates total. I would imagine that Rick will get most if not all of them.

Incorrect. Newt was taken back by all the lies that Romney said in the debate and he hesitated in calling out his lies. in the debate. Like it says on this Sludge headline here:

Drudge Newt takes on Romney

“Romney insists on trying to destroy Newt Gingrich over the same false, trumped-up ethics charges just like Democrats did. He’s acting exactly like a power hungry Democrat who is willing to say anything to get elected ..”

excerpt http://www.therightscoop.com/new-romney-ad-smears-newt-over-old-ethics-charges/

Romney joins the Dems, with their trumped up charges, even though Newt was was never found guilty of ethics violations.
but yet, Newt is helping Romney.

Come on, Newt. Let your country come before your ego, PLEASE!
