Voter ID Now The Law In Pa
BillLawrenceOnline.Com ^ | 3-15-12

Posted on 03/15/2012 5:38:08 AM PDT by Tribune7

The State House okayed the changes the Senate made to HB 934 -- the rational, reasonable bill requiring voters present identification albeit not necessarily photo identification -- yesterday, March 15, and Gov. Tom Corbett signed it into law a few hours later.

The Democrats strongly fought the bill and are pledging legal challenges to it.

During the 2010 election I was handing out campaign materials outside a polling place in NE Philly. A couple of guys in union jackets came out and walked past me and I could hear one guy asking the other where they were going next.

The Philly papers have been full of the usual teeth-gnashing about how rare vote fraud is. No, it is quite commonplace - what is rare is to actually catch it. Now it can be blocked and the dead can rest in peace on Election Day.

Voter ID in PA

FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.

Although this article is not directly about Wisconsin, it discusses Voter ID laws in other states. Apparently Voter ID is under attack across this country by the usual suspects.

I know the courts overturned one in Texas but if Michigan won there is precedence.

I'm not sure how closely Pa's law follows Michigan's but it allows for acceptance of non-photo ID and provisional ballots.

Yours sounds pretty similar to ours. They have to ask but you don’t have to show.

However if you don’t show an ID the ballot becomes a provisional ballot and may not be counted.

It is “the law” until some freakin’ federal judge overturns it. Just like every other state where it has become law.

The feds are everywhere, time for them to go.

Philly has a voter turnout around 93%

Now a lot of people are not going to leave their grave sites in November and the turnout should approach the national average of about 36-38%

.

Good questions, all. The vote fraud enabling machine is going to have their work cut out for them in Pennsylvania. Even a majority of the Democrat rank and file voters are supportive of this law. Excluding those in Philadelphia, of course.

I think it's going to be tough to overturn it.

Also, the more people hear of it the more they like it which means that the more the Dems fight it the more it's going to hurt them.

Believe it or not a lot of Pennsylvanians aren't even fully aware of it.

I wish our Pubs were smart enough to force Little Bobby Casey to take a stand on it.

Minority party poll watchers are required to make it work.

There will always be vote fraud but this makes it harder.

In Michigan we now have magnetic strip readers at the polling place. They look at the ID, check the name off a list on paper then run the ID through the strip reader which checks it off a list with the state computers.

While we don’t have to show an ID, it doesn’t make sense to try voting without it because that ballot is unlikely to be counted.

I don’t think the Texas law has yet been subjected to court review. In southern states, the US attorney general has the power to block certain voting laws and the stae must then take the matter to court.

What's really needed is to have serious penalties and fines for fraudulent voting, with bounties to people who provide evidence leading to the arrest and conviction of fraudulent voters.

Then Republican poll-watchers can make some money catching Dem vote fraudsters on election day. All you would have to do would be to video record somebody at the poll claiming to be Joe Smith of 1313 Mockingbird Lane, and show that the face actually belongs to George Jones.

Wasn't it the dems, years ago, who were pushing a national ID card? An ID is required to buy beer, or get into an R rated movie, yet the most important thing a citizen can do is vote and legally they should prove who they are yet the dems scream like a three year old that we should ask for id?????

Good news for PA, yet Holder will crush their vote asap, or is that just how the feds treat Texas?

Holder will crush their vote asap, or is that just how the feds treat Texas?

Somebody pointed out that the civil rights laws don't authorize the Justice Department to screw up voting reform in the North in the way that it can in the South.

I hope they are right.

And maybe we ought to start thinking that some of these civil laws are passed their due date.

Philly has a voter turnout around 93%

If that's the case, they're 'voting the living'. Here's how it's done - you tab up the folks who didn't show up to vote, stack up the cards ( this is how it was done years ago) and 'punch' them out with a hammer and ice pick.

The vote would come in late from selected black precincts because dems would wait to see how many votes were needed. To keep suspicions low, the 'win' had to be close. They would wait for the 'magic number' then add enough to make sure ... Black precincts were usually chosen because they don't talk.

Everyone knew except the press - but they were easy to handle - useful idiots.Send them 'hate' mail from (alleged) conservatives (written by liberals) and they'll stand shoulder to shoulder with the devil...Easy... easy...

I like your image of the walker.

I’m a big fan of the AMC series ‘The Walking Dead’ and have been wondering how the remaining non-walkers will survive. Some have speculated that the cold of winter will kill the walkers off.

Since the ‘Walking Dead’ story takes place in Georgia, if the folks can survive just a little longer they should be safe—the ‘walkers’ will have left to begin their long journey to Philadelphia to vote in this November’s election.
