Obama Up in Wisconsin; Santorum Leading Primary

Raleigh, N.C. – President Obama’s numbers have rebounded sharply in Wisconsin since the last time PPP polled there in October 2011. Obama now has a +8 job approval rating, with 52% of voters approving and 44% disapproving. In October 2011 his numbers were almost the reverse at 44/51. Obama leads all his Republican challengers, most by double digits: he leads Mitt Romney by 14 points, 53-39 (in October he led Romney by just 3 points, 46-43); he leads Newt Gingrich by 18 points, 55-37; and he leads Ron Paul by 16 points, 53-37. Rick Santorum performs best against the President - Obama leads him 49-43.

All the Republican presidential challengers are suffering from negative favorability ratings of 50% of more. Santorum’s rating among Wisconsin voters comes in at 37% favorable and 50% unfavorable, and it only gets worse from there: Romney is at 25/61, Ron Paul is at 23/59, and Newt Gingrich is at 19/68.

“Wisconsin was a swing state in 2000 and 2004,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. “But in 2008 it shifted to being safely Democratic and it looks like that trend is going to continue in 2012.” (snip)

Perhaps not surprisingly based on his high favorability ratings, Santorum leads the Republican primary field with 43%. Mitt Romney takes second with 27%, Newt Gingrich gets 10% and Ron Paul 8%. If Newt Gingrich were to drop out of the race, nearly all his supporters would move to Santorum - Santorum’s vote total would expand to 51%, while Romney’s would stay basically the same at 28%, and Paul would stay at 8%.

Based on their last couple elections, they must be the most bipolar voters in the nation.

I’m afraid that all of Walker’s success is making the Kenyan look good.

I think you have put your finger on it - if the poll can be believed. Given the polling that was done for MS and AL, I am sceptical of this poll.

For the love of God - this is a PPP poll - they are simply paid by liberals to collect gibberish numbers and throw them willy nilly into the air. Get a grip!

You do not have any idea whether Gingrich support would move to Santorum, and you have know idea where they would go, nobody does.
Paul should leave just because he is like gnat that you just can’t swat away.

This poll is from March 1st.

Just let Santorum keep babbling about tangential social issues like internet pornography, and he’ll sew up Obama’s victory in no time.

Thanks he will keep it up, the only people in favor of unlimited gay porn for kids in schools come to complain about Santorum.

I’m sorry, I don’t believe these polls for a minute. They really had to cherry pick their calls.

PPP was wrong about AL and MS, they had Gingrich taking both states. Polls are such BS, can’t be taken at face value anymore. I saw a poll in 2008 that showed that Obama would win Alaska, I don’t believe for one second that Obama is doing as well as PPP is saying

Looks to me like this is just registered voters. Hence it skews Democratic automatically. It is therefore of interest in terms of what the mass might think, though that mass includes a number of people more or less disengaged from what is happening and reliant on rumor and innuendo (another skew towards Democrats).

I’d be interested in a poll of likely voters from Wisconsin. My bet would be 50/50 at least for Romney maybe 55/45 Obama/Santorum, given nobody has campaigned there yet and that Obama is a disaster everywhere.

After some campaigning and Wisconsin voters actually meet the Republicans, the lot will shift toward them. Obama can only decline unless he simply pours money into the state. Who knows what would happen then.

If anything PPP under-polled Santorum and perhaps Obama may have an even narrower lead over him.

This is all part of the upcoming propaganda campaign. Leftwing pollsters are going to bombard us with daily polls to shape the news narrative that Obama is inevitable.

But there is no way Obama wins with gas at $4, massive debt, Obamacare, and unemployment around 8%. No way. No how.

But members and supporters of SEIU, NEA, Planned Parenthood, NARAL, ACLU, NAACP, MALDEF, Black Churches, Hollywood, Sierra Club, GLBT, CAIR, are lining up cash and people and baton wielding Black Panthers to make sure Obama wins by hook or by crook.

That is all you need to know.
