Cut taxes to get more taxes?
The Orange County Register ^ | 3-16-2012 | Mark Landsbaum

The last thing Democrats and other tax-and-spenders want to do is to cut taxes. Oh woe are they if tax cutters have their way. Where will they get money to spend if taxes are cut?

Of course, this is short-sighted as well as greedy.

Ask Art Laffer. . .

Or, ask John Kennedy. Yeah, that John Kennedy. . .

Cutting taxes to get more taxes makes sense to me. If a company earns $10 million and pays 30% tax that is $3 million in taxes. If you cut the rate to 20% it gives the company incentive to make more money. Now the company makes $50 million with the new tax rate of 20% it means the government is getting $10 million instead of $3 million. Not to mention the growth of the company enabled more workers to be hired and thus generating more income tax on the employees.

Yes. Your high school economics textbook called it “the law of supply and demand,” which tells us that supply varies inversely with price. Somehow news our wise leaders never heard that making something less expensive can give you more of it.

Just because it has worked every time it has been tried doesn’t mean much. In exactly the same way that socialism has failed every time it has been tried.

The fact that Democrats cannot understand how decreasing taxes leads to increased economic activity is why they are going to be trounced in this year’s elections.

Cutting taxes = increased economic activity resulting in increased revenue via taxes. It works. The problem we face is getting a handle on the spending side. If we can cut the size and scope of government while more revenue flows in to the treasury, we’ll be able to begin paying down our enormous national debt.

Remember what Barry said in the debates when given the facts that reduced capital gains tax INCREASED revenue? He said he didn’t care about revenue, it was all about “fairness.” Meaning, screw the producers even if there is less money to spread around.

Mark Landsbaum is a “professional” blogger at one of the most conservative news entities in the country (OC Register. I have a Kindle subscription, so I gladly pay). If I were to make a half dozen exemptions to the Blog Pimp rule, he would be one of them.

I love your treatment of the rest, however.

Yes, I do. In 2008, many voters didn’t see the Marxist aspect of Obama. Now in 2012 they do. At least enough of our fellow citizens have now become educated so they are ready to vote him out of office this fall.

Mark Landsbaum is a “professional” blogger

He may be many things, but his pimping activities make him a slimy hose-bag in my opinion.

His supposed ideology does not enter into the equation.

Cheers.
