The Intel Hub alerts us to a shocking new defense contract entered by the Department of Homeland Security to secure a massive amount of ammunition, with the option for infinite supply, infinite delivery.

ATK Awarded Contract to Supply 450 Million Rounds of .40 Caliber Ammunition to the Department of Homeland Security

ATK has secured a major Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity deal to supply up to 450 million rounds of .40 caliber ammunition to the Department of Homeland Security.

The 1 year contract with four option years comes at a time when many Americans believe that DHS, along with certain aspects of the military, will soon turn their sights on the American people during some sort of martial law scenario.

“We are proud to extend our track record as the prime supplier of .40 caliber duty ammunition for DHS, ICE,” said Ron Johnson, the president of ATK’s Security and Sporting group,” reported a PR Newswire release.

The Department of Homeland Security has been extremely busy in the last few months.

Being a SEAL you should now how much and how fast rounds gets used. 450 mil will just cover the required qualification for all the agencies under DHS.

Oh, really? Just out of currently issued .40 caliber pistols? Would you mind informing us of the total # of feds currently on the rolls toting a .40 caliber weapon? We'd love to know. If there are so many .40 caliber toting feds that 450 million rounds is just a blip, I think that's interesting in itself, and certainly would, on a sheer numbers to population basis, be said to constitute the National Police our founding fathers so dreaded, feared and warned against.

I don't know what the actual numbers are in DHS and ICE, but there are 20k just in the Border Patrol. Every BP agent must qual every 3 months. Quals consist of 72 rounds just for the primary qual. This doesn't even account for ancillery mandatory quals such as night fire and various tactical quals. Just the primary quals in the Border Patrol represent around 100k rounds every 3/mo. Border Patrol Firearms Instructors alone fire between 10-30K rounds per year. The Border Patrol is just one agency among probably 20 agencies in DHS.

I don't think there is anything particularly nefarious about the ammo order, especially since it spans a five year period. However, the fact that we need that many feaking rounds just to train people properly clearly justifies your concern about an out of control government.
