The Intel Hub alerts us to a shocking new defense contract entered by the Department of Homeland Security to secure a massive amount of ammunition, with the option for infinite supply, infinite delivery.
ATK Awarded Contract to Supply 450 Million Rounds of .40 Caliber Ammunition to the Department of Homeland Security
ATK has secured a major Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity deal to supply up to 450 million rounds of .40 caliber ammunition to the Department of Homeland Security.
The 1 year contract with four option years comes at a time when many Americans believe that DHS, along with certain aspects of the military, will soon turn their sights on the American people during some sort of martial law scenario.
We are proud to extend our track record as the prime supplier of .40 caliber duty ammunition for DHS, ICE, said Ron Johnson, the president of ATKs Security and Sporting group, reported a PR Newswire release.
The Department of Homeland Security has been extremely busy in the last few months.

Likely ordered to arm the TSA. And any one of those morons will require a minimum 350,000 rounds to hit anything.
I'm open to suggestions on how to remedy this.

They are just preparing for Obamas second term..
You havn’t seen nothing YET!..
NO Newt..... Zero WINS..
I don't think there is anything particularly nefarious about the ammo order, especially since it spans a five year period. However, the fact that we need that many feaking rounds just to train people properly clearly justifies your concern about an out of control government.
WE HAVE A WINNER!
I don't disbelieve you for an instant, but do you have a source for that? I'm sure that I will be asked when I use it.
I was going to 9mm but it seems .40 is the better bet
I will send to bunches of people tomorrow.
.40 is still too much for some females.
But the standardization argument is valid. I saw it happen regularly in my dad’s police department. Over 20 years they went from .38 revolvers to ruger 9mm, to s&w 10mm, to glock .40s. They basically were following the lead of the state police and the fbi. Really hated giving up the 10mm.
Not a problem. There’s a Glock G23 on my hip as I write this. Also a G22 in the safe.
You ever seen the majority of these people shoot? Most couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. And if they did hit the broadside of a barn they'd squeal like little girls and throw their gun up in the air.
I was once at an indoor range and had a group of staties in the lane next to me. Three yards, THREE FREAKING YARDS, and they were barely on the target. I moved my target to three yards just so they could see how bad they really were.
I just can't imagine anyone picking up a new rifle without at least one box of 20; or a new pistol without at least one box of 50.
The discusion has come up on The High Road a few times over the years. Here's one link from there for 1997 data.
http://www.census.gov/prod/ec97/97m3329f.pdf . Table 6a on page 15 has the data for 1997
They use it in their sub-guns too (which I realize is only slightly better than what you said).
So...applying normal LEO shooting percentages, they should each expect at least 10 hits!
Hell, these days the milk inspector carries and has full tac gear in the trunk. Them Swede dairy farmers can get fractious, dontcha know!
No worries. The American public purchased over 9 billion rounds shortly before and including up to slightly over a year after Obama’s election. It was quite a story at the time but you don’t hear much about it now. Google it and I think you will find archived stories.
If it looks like obammy and the socialists are going to lose come November then look for this martial law grab. Along with military units searching to confiscate our guns.
Good luck with that.
I’m hoping against hope that our military will not follow illegal orders by this marxist Kenyan poser.
The police dept. here in Austin, TX. recently required all officers to carry .40 S&W.
I thught it was sort of strange at the time.
I D I Q contracts stand for “indefinite” not infinite.
Perhaps there’s only so many obama bucks left in the stash. Next comes obama rounds...
An army armed with pistol ammunition? Do they get out much?
Thanks for the ping; link. HOORAY Ann!
“Why Did The DHS Just Order 450 Million Rounds Of .40 Caliber Ammunition?”
To drive up ammo prices. Obama’s Regime may play at being economic illiterates, but they know the score when it comes to making We the People nervous.
That being said, can you put me on your ping list ?
Could this be an effort to clog up the supply chain and deny supply to anyone else?
And the guard posts at the camps. Camps that I heard Glen Beck say did not exist.
I can see why BP need to requal and train in a serious way. I get concerned when I read that every agency including the EPA and wildlife folks have giant SWAT Teams now. I get very worried when I read about the power-mad TSA Tsar Pistole pushing his “VIPR” program to put DHS Stasis in our bus and train stations and on street corners.
And I suppose they will all need thousands of rounds of .40 caliber for training and requal, and finally, for “operations.”
Certainly you can undestand our concern, going into the crucial 2012 elections, when we read about a new contract for 450 MILLION rounds of .40 caliber for the DHS?
What “war” is the DHS gearing up for?
search me, but maybe they are hoping body armor won't be a problem ....
incase you missed it PING
“An army armed with pistol ammunition? Do they get out much?”
It’s for Bammy’s ‘civilian army’, and No - they don’t get out of the ghetto much.
Hint: Buy Birdman Products stock, ‘cause they make the famousn “Ghetto Glock” sights!
Sounds like nobody told DHS that when dealing with the bitter clingers in a 1776 solution distance is your friend. I’d be more upset if they had ordered 450 million rounds of 5.56.
As always, thanks for the ping and the link. Just when I think we’ll make it to November, Prezbo releases something else that gives me the willies.
Nice to have a “Park” person on our side.
Signed, a Florida “Cracker” fourth generation.
No, that’s not a racist slur as you probably already know.
If DHS were expecting to take delivery of all 450m rounds, that would still require several years to do that. I would be very impressed if any manufacturer could turn out 1m a day.
Why indeed. They don’t want those on the border using ammunition.
This: Read it all
OT BTW, do you think it’s time for someone to step down?
Did anybody yet think that maybe this blog post is simply -wrong-??
“Sounds like a sign to buy .40s”
As if Romney is much better. The czars and other government minions are already in place so it will continue as planned no matter which snake oil salesman is in office.
Winchester also got a contract from DHS for 200 million rounds of .40 caliber ammunition.
A rifle can’t go everywhere, but a .40 hand gun just about can. It is a serious piece of armament.
How many shooters do they have in the DHS???
450 million rounds...hmmmmm...
I still believe we have the numbers (and skills) to counter this escalating move on their part...
Personally, I’m getting tired of this Us vs. Them bullbutter...
I would like for it to go away, but its funny what causes people to get their bowels in an uproar...Its not really us, its the big “G” that knows what buttons to push to get a reaction out of us...
It is not time to go to gun yet...We still have the effective ability to inflict change upon the goobers we elect to represent us...
The day we lose that, and some feel it is time to take it to the next level...
We all lose...No matter what the numbers are...
I read this really neat novel a while back, and I’m re-reading it now...It illustrates the potential of the “just one more tragedy” senario...And how quickly it can turn against freedom...
I think most of us would make our stand and be proud to do so at that time...
The question is, will you stand up and be counted before they get a chance to act on impulse...
I can’t wait for November...
