Last week Rick Santorum vowed to end America’s “pandemic of pornography,” insisting that if he were president he would limit the rights of adults to show and view images of consenting adults having sex. No doubt there is too much pornography in this country, and anyone thinking of watching it should go read their Bible instead. But what I want in a president is a pragmatist, not a panderer.
It would have been one thing for Santorum to say that his real crusade is against pedophilia or against child trafficking. Those are real evils that must be stopped. But that’s not what he said.
Here’s why Santorum should stop talking about porn.

When asked about pornography, contraception, etc, Santorum should answer “Let’s talk about something more urgent, such as jobs, economy, gas prices, Afghanistan etc”. Getting tangled up on social issues is a loser.
Ask the author the next time he is watching his filth how he would feel if it was his daughter that he was watching.

Another way to look at it: The media keep asking Santorum for ammunition that they can use against him, and he keeps giving it to them, and they keep using it against him.

As Santorum is naieve enough to get led into this obvious
trap, he’s not NEARLY ready for the presidency.
Here’s an idea. Just talk about those things that are actually delegated to the federal government, and authorized by an enumerated power.

They are just setting him up so they can ridicule him. He shouldn’t fall for these fringe questions and just answer that he will make sure that laws are within the bounds of the Constitution by appointing judges who deal with those issues who understand and support the “laws of nature and nature’s God”-— who will uphold the Constitutional principles of Just Laws.
Santorum needs to deal with the MSM the way Newt does.
That's impossible; there is only one Newt Gingrich who can smack down the media.
The Republican Party should devote itself totally and entirely to the poor. It should advocate that every dollar of federal public revenue go to the poor, with no exceptions. Then, what would The Left do? Nothing. They would have no options left. Think about it. It would work.
Santorum needs to do a better job of pivoting. Otherwise the media is going to own him if he gets the nomination.
First, why would he say anything about what he would do about Porn. It is up to the courts and congress. If he wants to sign a bill that congress has passed and make it law thats great, but for goodness sake stop talking about stuff you can't do anything about as president.
We all want a conservative president, even one who has the values of Rick Santorum but we also need someone smart enough to know when to shut his mouth.
All these social remarks that everyone already knows Santorums position on has sunk him. If he doesn't do really well in Illinois he is finished and it is not looking good now, Rick is doing everything he can to make sure Romney is the nominee. He is throwing this away, why? He can't be stupid. I just fail to believe that someone who has finished law school can be stupid. The only place Newt could have done well is the South and Santorum has taken that away from him, he has made sure that all we get is Mitt Romney.
Early on there were accusations that Santorum was only in it to split votes and keep any of the other challengers from getting more votes than Romney, I'm starting to wonder if some of these people knew what they were talking about.

He was my last hope but he is being set up too easily in the Punch and Judy show of politics. At least he speaks from his heart which is good.

Sounds like Santorum’s words got twisted, but that’s probably why he should, in fact, avoid talking about porn in the first place. Any voter who has fighting porn in the forefront of his mind is likely already a Santorum guy. Santorum has nothing to gain by even talking about it, since the media aren’t going to report what he actually said, but their spin on it.

That is the way I would want Santorum to come at this subject if he wants to continue talking about it. He should point out that pornography is exploitative and demeaning to women (feminists have said this repeatedly). And then he should ask someone if they would want one of their family members to be exposed to AIDS or other diseases so someone else can make a huge profit. And he might throw out something like the pornography industry should keep their filthy paws off the women.
The lavender mafia media should stop asking questions it does not want answered. The activists in the media should also be putting the SAME questions to the Democrat and Republican candidates, not JUST the Republican candidates.

You aren’t allowed to say that the kind of porn we have all over the place is sick, and that our courts and politicians are sick because they say that we have a right to porn, but we don’t have a right to criticize it. We have a right to have naked gay parades in our cities, but we don’t have a right to criticize them. That would be a hate crime.

And Rick does talk about the fixing the economy and shrinking big government. It’s just that the media prefers not to tell us about it.
We have a Supreme Court that has said that porn is a First Amendment right, but mentioning prayer or the Bible in school is forbidden. No wonder our country is going to the dogs.

Santorum acts like an excited puppy leaping for a snack every time he is asked a question. He seems to have little discipline at all, and - although he best represents conservative views in general - he seem incapable of focusing as needed on the key issues required to destroy Obama. Contraception? Porn? Rick should just say “oh shut up and stop trying to change the subject...the issue is Obama’s tyranny, and I will END it!:
Santorum has become a “Johnny One Note” and a note that, while important, isn’t immediately of interest to folks who are unemployed or paying $4+ for gas or who have a family member fighting (or being restrained from fighting) in Afghanistan, or who paid $50 for groceries that would have been $35 a year or two ago.
If we are to get this country back on track we need far more than one politician who can smack down the media, we need a whole fleet of them.
