Prayers for a friend diagnosed with cancer.
me | 3.20.2012 | me

Posted on 03/20/2012 4:57:17 AM PDT by wolfcreek

A good friend of ours was diagnosed with colon cancer (that may have spread to his liver) and will have surgury this morning to remove at least one tumor.

Chemo will be the next step.

This will be truly life changing for this very active, outdoors man and his family.

Your prayers for his recovery and healing would be most welcome.

Prayers Of course: Cancer patients are always in my prayers, I have lost so many of my own family and friends from it.
What a terrible disease.

I pray your friend has a swift recovery and is free from it after surgery.

Just prayed for your friend.

My Dad had colon cancer 30+ years ago. Surgery was successful. He passed away 2 years ago at the ripe old age of 93.

Please consider getting your hands on some marijuana for your friend. It made all the difference for me during similar cancer treatments a few years ago. Don’t hesitate — the chemo is brutal and the weed can allow him to be able to keep fluids down and even eat a little.

I will pray for your friend. What is his first name?

Just to give your friend some hope, let me share the experiences of my best friend. I went to check on her one morning; she was in incredible pain. Unbeknownst to her, a tumor had ruptured through her colon. She had stage 3 colon cancer. That was 8 years ago. Prior to that, she had a melanoma removed. About 6 years ago she had a cancer found on her ovary which was removed. Subsequently, she is still closely watched and continues to have actinic keratoses and squamous cells removed. She’s in her mid 70s, and I tell her she’s like a timex. Tell your friend to have hope. And courage. He’s about to hit a rough patch in his road, but he can survive and thrive.

Lord of the Universe,
Creator of the earth and sky,
Master of all that exists,
You made us; we belong to you.
You are intimately familiar with this friend who is struggling with cancer:
Please bless him now,
And through all the challenges of his life.
Please grant him Your eternal favor,
Health, confidence, well-being and redemption.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.

May the God of All Comfort bring peace and assurance to your friend and his family, and may His hand of healing and blessing rest upon the one so now in need.

“Forever, O Lord, thy Word is firmly fixed in the Heavens.” Psalm 119:89

Thank You, Most Merciful Father, that nothing can shake or remove or diminish Your Word, but that You send it forth to accomplish Your good and perfect will. We speak life and healing over wolfcreek’s friend ... may we soon learn that all will be well, to the Glory of the Great Physician.

Exodus 15:26 ~ “For I am the Lord that healeth thee.”

Amen and Amen

Thanks for the tip.
His name is Mark.

A few additional tips:

Ginger tea -- Get him some ginger root from the produce dept and slice up some nickel-sized discs. Steep in hot water and add a little honey. Also can make up a bigger batch and keep it in the fridge. I am not any kind of natural foods health nut or anything, but there were many times that this ginger tea was the only thing I could drink. It is the fluids that make all the difference.

Ramen soup: For some reason, I was able to eat this when I couldn't eat anything else. But I couldn't use the powered soup mix that comes in the package. I think the MSG was the problem. Instead, get him lots of canned chicken broth without MSG (I used Progresso.) Depending on which chemo drugs he gets, they mess with your taste buds and I found I could sip broth but I couldn't drink water. The water tasted like poison and made me nauseous while the broth didn't.

Ensure: Make sure he has a good supply of that, especially the high protein one. Tell him to drink it on ice or even freeze it for an ice cream type thing.

But the weed will help him most. Get it for him in any way you can. Everything changed for me when a dear friend brought over a few buds and a pipe. I believe it allowed me to survive the chemo. It was killing me, quite literally.

Prayers are on the way! Please have your friend inquire about Metronomic chemotherapy. It's a new type of chemo, much more tolerable with good results.

I am halfway through my chemo and I have never been sick to my stomach or have vomited. In fact I have gained 10 lbs. There have been real success stories with this even with Stage IV.
