Romney-Ryan?
The Evening Standard ^ | March 20, 2012 | FRED BARNES

Romney-Ryan? MAR 21, 2012 • BY FRED BARNES Mitt Romney is close to finishing off his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination, talk of a brokered GOP convention in August, and the prospect of a new candidate suddenly entering the contest.

This would be a political hat trick once it happens, and the moment is likely to come quite soon, now that Romney has won an overwhelming victory in the Illinois primary. It would take a collapse of historic proportions for Romney to be denied the nomination.

Could that happen? Sure. But the chances are mighty slim. Rick Santorum would have to whip Romney in the big state primaries—California, New Jersey, New York—and also in states like Maryland, Delaware, Oregon, Connecticut, Wisconsin, and Utah.

As things now stand in the campaign, Santorum is more likely to lose all but one or two of these states than he is to capture a majority of them. Pressure for Santorum to drop out, quietly at first, is probably not far off.

Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul—forget them. Gingrich responded to Romney’s win in Illinois by whining about what he said was Romney’s 7-to-1 advantage in spending, as if it were improper. Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said this was like accusing a basketball team of cheating because its players are too tall.

I see the Romney boys at the Weakly Substandard are trying to sell the inevitability argument again. Maybe it was just me, but this “overwhelming” win tonight was by 11 points in a contest Milt spent a TON of money in. He also couldn’t break 50% again. All Romney had to sell anyone was that the other guy sucks.

If I was Fred “The Beadle” Barnse, I would be less concerned with Milts VP choices and more with why this guy is still such a total dud.

He could run with Moses and I wouldn’t vote for him.

No Romney, no way.

And save the “inevitability” BS.

Romney is going to need some very conservative cabinet picks to really convince anybody that he’s even remotely conservative.

Also not happening. Ryan does not appeal to the moderates, and that’s what the GOP-E will be gunning for during this election. They will go for Susana Martinez or someone else like her (It will be a moderate woman who is a minority).

Personally, should Romney end up the nominee, I hope he chooses some dullard. An empty suit with a somewhat right leaning record. He promised it’ll be someone pro-life. So maybe it could be Rob Portman. That way, if the ticket goes down in flames, we won’t have lost a rising national star.

I can’t think of any running mate that Romney could name (and that would agree to run with him) that would cause me to change my mind and actually vote for him.

Same here. And I say that as I grit my teeth. Romney, if elected, will slow down the train wreck a little. If obama is relected, we hit the wall very soon.

We’re in dire straits. America is like a fat, complacent and spoiled kid. The cookie jar is empty and the kid is going on a diet.

If anything could make me even less excited to vote for Romney in the general, this would do it!

Paul Ryan has NO resume to recommend him, he has spent his entire life in politics; and his campaign contributions would be cannon fodder. He is a DISASTER on health care; by the time the Dems/Media get done using his own words against him, Obamacare will have 80% support.

Old political adage...candidates seldom quit the race, they just run out of money and then their opponents can whip them mercilessly in ads.

According to a report filed Tuesday night with the Federal Election Commission, at the end of February:

Rick Santorum had $2.6 million in the bank and $900,000 debt.
Newt Gingrich $1.54 million in the bank and $1.55 million debt.
Mitt Romney had $7.3 million in the bank and no debt.
Ron Paul had about $1.4 million in the bank, no debt.

If they resurrected Thomas Jefferson to run with Romney I STILL wouldn’t vote for the bastard.

No Romney.

Not on any ticket.

Not for any office.

Not ever.

I haven’t made up my mind yet, because we’re not there yet. Once November comes around though, I’ll decide for whom I’ll vote (My primary vote doesn’t matter, we’re the last state to vote, and that vote’s decided).

But, I can say this. If Obama were voted in a second term, there will be no limit to the things he’d do. TSA/NFL/HS Prom groping, body scanners, NDAA, SB 510 (food bill, that makes a slew of regulations) etc., etc., will PALE in comparison with what’s to come. PALE. It’s the Czars, handlers, and everything that comes along with him that are the huge problems people forget about.
