In theory, tiny Finland could have done nothing against Stalin.
Just like my Sweden, a tiny country up North in Europe, eternally, by sheer geographical and demographical laws were forced to eternally bow down to Rome.
Theory is one aspect of reality.
Action is a completely different matter.
Scandinavian troops probably are the toughest enemy any opponent on this planet ever could challenge.
Our "small" nation have recently been successful in fighting Talibans.
Our equipment is superior. Our organization is superior. Our training is superior. Our genes are superior. Our health is superior. Our military tradition is superior. Our planning is superior. Our patriotism is superior. Our intelligence is superior.
But above all, you are some moron trying to mess with Vikings.
In the area of national security, my nation today relies on our technological superiority, but if the sh*t really would hit the fan, we'd sooner be depending on our ability to quickly adapt to a situation in which we, within few days, could undergo a transformation from a country producing cars, buses, trucks etc. to one able of manufacturing around 500 tanks a day (or even more of them).

Let’s see. The Russians attacked on at least three widely separated, non-supporting axes of advance [schwerpunkten], in the winter, and after Stalin had massacred a large part of their officer corps. The main attack was launched against the fortified Mannerheim Line on the Karelian Isthmus, which could not be tactically flanked [think El Alamein with snow].
The Finns, who are NOT Scandinavians [their closest linguistic relatives in Europe are the Hungarians- the Magyar] performed heroically throughout the winter. The Red Army reorganized in early 1940, and crushed them.
Superior equipment? Except for some small arms, particularly submachineguns, No. The Finns’ artillery was, in its newest form, of WW I vintage. Some guns were older than that. And ammo was very scarce. The Finns had no armor, and their airplanes were obsolescent. What they had was superior training, doctrine and tactics.
And as for the superiority of the Scandinavian warrior, the Germans took out Norway [which was being aided, if you can call it that, by France and Great Britain] in about six weeks. And the superiority of the Vikings? Not since Stamford Bridge.

My mother is a Swede. She and my father met in DC in the train station before he shipped to Europe during WWII. They married immediately after he returned, In a few weeks they will have been married 65 years.
Her ancestors immigrated to the US from Finland. Her grandfather had to serve in the White Russian Army before they would allow him to leave.
Swedes and Finns are not alike.

That was true for Denmark, France, the British Isles and Ireland also. When the men ran and hid in the fields the Vikings raped the woman, this went on from 900 to approx 1300 resulting in all of those nations being populated by Norwegians.
