Did Two Florida State Representatives (Precourt and Plakon) Quietly Ignite the ObamaCare Take-down?

Back in late 2009, conservatives watched with alarm as ObamaCare headed for a vote. Two Florida State Representatives, Scott Plakon and Steve Precourt, were especially concerned about the constitutional infringements of the individual mandate and the disparate impact that the bill’s Medicare changes would have on Florida taxpayers.

Representatives Plakon and Precourt were among the key legislators who consulted with McCollum as his office debated the merits of filing a complaint against ObamaCare and analyzed the potential causes of action that could be alleged. In late December 2009, Plakon and Precourt sent a letter to McCollum’s office urging him to take legal action against ObamaCare:

Plakon and Precourt were among the first in Florida to publicly attach their names to a call for formal action in opposition to ObamaCare, and less than a month after their letter, McCollum sent a letter on January 19, 2010 to the Majority Leader Harry Reid, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and Minority Leader John Boehner, with his analysis of the constitutional issues in the ObamaCare legislation, stating that he was “call[ing] [their] attention to these legal concerns so that constitutional issues may be remedied before a final bill is negotiated.”

I’m not entirely sure who first came up with the idea to file the lawsuit, but it is clear that Plakon and Precourt’s encouragement came at a crucial point in McCollum’s decision making process.

Everyone who opposes ObamaCare and its unconstitutional intrusion on our private health care decisions owes a debt of gratitude to Bill McCollum, Scott Plakon, and Steve Precourt for taking the lead on this issue, and of course to Florida’s current Attorney General Pam Bondi for continuing the fight all the way to the Supreme Court.

I thought the left was trying to decide if the US Attorney arguing the case was to blame for it’s failure at the SCOTUS or the professor from MIT that said the individual mandate was the way to go.

You know of course it doesn’t matter, big bus, someone needs to go under it. Can’t be the ideas, can’t be the fact that it was illegal. Nope! It was “INSERT PERSON’S FAULT HERE” and of course “THE TEA PARTY”.

You didn’t get the memo did you? There will be enough blame to go around that the left will be wondering who really has the TPS report and who’s accountable for it.

Any doubt that ObamaCare is absolutely unconstitutional has been totally demonstrated in the oral arguments. Now liberals hope the SCOTUS will vote to approve it anyway (Constitution be damned)! We know four Justices will... so if Justice Kennedy or any of the alleged “conservatives” vote to uphold, it will send a clear signal to all Americans that we are no longer citizens! We are now mere subjects/peasants of the centralized totalitarian state! The great American experiment of Constitutional limited government is OVER and DEAD! Revolution will then be our only option... scary, DAMN SCARY!

Firstly, there’s been no “take down”.

Secondly, they didn’t lead anything. They just happened to be at the front of the pack.

I am thinking it will pass in its entirety for the serveral purely ilogical reasons.
Reason #1: It looks like it is doomed ..therefore, it will pass.
#2 It is the worst of all possible situations ..therefore, it will pass.
#3 Its the Federal government so, it will pass.
#4 Kagan (plant), who should have recused herself has a vote...Equals we are SCREWED

All kinds of Republican State Attorneys General were going to come out against 0-Care. Bill MacCullum just happened to get there first. If he had done nothing it would have been another Attorney General. This kind of article is ridiculous. There was a tsunami against 0-Care on the State (10th Amendment) level.

Bill McCollum is a hero in so many ways:

When Charlie Wilson was making the defeat of the Sovs possible in Afghanistan, Bill was the man who arranged all the shipment of supplies, equipment, even mules to our friends there.

When the Clinton impeachment was dying in the HOR, Bill and a few others kept it alive. He was also one of the officials who took it to the Senate, where, of course, the Dems had already cut a deal. That cost him his Senate run against Dem Nelson.

He is the one who led the legal fight against Obamacare, as outlined above.

He is a friend and a true American patriot.
