According to Dictionary.reference.com, “feminism” is defined as: 1. the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men. 2. (sometimes initial capital letter) an organized movement for the attainment of such rights for women.
Reading this, one can almost hear Helen Reddy singing out the strains of “I am woman, hear me roar.” Insofar as the concept of feminism is concerned, I can’t seriously believe that anyone, male or female, living in present-day America can argue with feminism’s goals. Equality and justice (together with life) are the cornerstones of our country’s founding; indeed, all our rights emanate from these principles. To say that feminism is a worthy goal is akin to saying that the sun rises each morning in the east. I’m beginning to believe, however, that there is a growing contingent of individuals who apparently face west each morning awaiting the sun’s arrival. Last week brought us a case in point.

Feminists won the battle long ago, when society at large recognized their complaints and made appropriate adjustments. Women can do anything they want these days, from being stay at home moms to fighter pilots flying combat missions.
But feminists still aren’t happy. They’re still looking for grievances on which to blame their perpetual misery.
What better than a music video featuring a prettier woman with a weapon that goes full auto? (The only thing you ever saw Bella Abzug with was the broomstick on which she was riding.)

So what exactly is it that feminists nowadays want to see happen? When equal opportunity is the law of the land, and has been for decades?
And, what about the various minority groups? What exactly do they want nowadays? The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is almost 50 years old. Generations of black and other minorities have grown up with their equal legal rights under the law fully recognized.
What exactly is society supposed to do from here, once the appropriate laws and government regulations are in place to ensure equal treatment????

It’s kind of funny that only 2 years ago (maybe 3?) everyone was up in arms over her because of her racy videos and subjects, like the controversial songs California Girls, I Kissed a Girl and quite a few conservative talk show hosts were warning the masses at large about this womans intentions to indoctrinate young girls with sex, sex and more sex. I vividly remember Michael Medved reading lyrics of California Girls and describing the visuals of the video where there was scantily clad females sucking on lollipops very suggestive sexual innuendos. Within a few months she was preparing an episode of the Muppets and then the backlash came and the boycotts were threatened and she backed down. Just wondering if people forgot who she was a few years ago and if they are ok with her past? Heck even O’Reilly had her as a “pinhead” during thius time period of that album and muppet caper. Not sure but I’m guessing he would call her a “patriot” now because of the new video.
Women don’t like other women who are perfect, dontcha know? Can’t wait to see her when her metabolism changes or she has her first kid. I’m mean, I know it. :-)
