Obama Is The Symptom Not The Problem
The Catholic Knight ^ | 3/5/2012 | Staff

I want to make something perfectly clear to my readers. I DON'T HATE BARACK OBAMA. I don't even dislike him. Truth is, if I met him in a pub, and didn't know he was the President of the United States, I would probably have a few drinks with him. I might even make a friend. The same is true with G.W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

In American politics we tend to get personal, even to the point of hating our leaders. I have tried to avoid that, and I've tried to teach my kids to steer clear of that as well. Truth is, while much of what our political leaders do is evil, that doesn't mean they themselves are evil people. I have friends who are ardent Obama supporters, even to the point of trying to defend his indefensible HHS mandate. I don't 'unfriend' them just because of their flawed political views. They're good people and I know they mean well. It's just that so much of what they 'know' is wrong.

[SNIP]

I'm going to tell my readers now that there is a fifty percent chance that Obama may lose the election, and if he does, there is a seventy-five percent chance that nothing big will really change. Oh sure, a Republican president may get rid of some of the more offensive features of Obamacare, including the insidious HHS mandate, but don't expect the principles of Obamacare to disappear, and you certainly shouldn't expect anything to get better in the healthcare industry. I would say there is probably a strong chance they will continue to get worse, especially under a Republican president. Under Obama we may go to war with Iran. Under a Republican president we WILL go to war with Iran.

I am shocked to realize that many Republicans, even here on FreeRepublic, don’t see Obamacare as the threat to our way of life

RomneyCare is every bit as much of a threat.

The real problem with America is we let stupid people vote.

What happens when people are no longer allowed to be stupid?

How is it determined who IS stupid?

What kind of treatment would be available to help those who are too stupid?

Would we need a "stupid Czar" to set up a bureaucracy to regulate and monitor stupidity to it can be managed?......

What is the IRS going to need to get from the public to support this endeavor?

Will it help or harm our party politically if we pursue this?

Sorry, the liberal in me made me do it... ; )

The odds are quite slim that you would encounter a Muslim in a bar. On the other hand, an encounter in a coffee shop ...

"I don't hate Barrack Obama."

A man who has a disdain for American exceptionalism. A man who is trying to systematically take down the greatest country on earth. What's to like, again?

I absolutely hate his guts. His voice, alone, makes my blood boil.

Absolutely agree. I DESPISE the man and the people that are behind him. Why does everyone feel the need to precede any criticism of this man by saying that they "like" him personally, and that he would be someone they would "like to have a beer with"?

Hogwash!!! Would these people like to have a beer with Hitler? This man and his handlers are the ENEMY of my country! I would like to see this usurper be dragged out of the Whitehouse in handcuffs, tried and locked up for the rest of his life! This is an issue of our very survival and people feel like they have to throw out the "like him personally" card? Don't think for one moment, that when the opportunity comes - that these vile people won't drag you out of your house people - and do whatever they want to do to you.

THEY are deadly serious and violently passionate about their cause. We are losing the battle because we don't want them to think we are mean. I'm physically sick about this.

Sorry, but world view and world power does matter... first lets dispense with the hypothetical, “if I met Obama in a pub...”, how far down a rat hoe do you need to go, to know you’ve fallen into a rat hole? Hypotheticals are for one purpose, to divert your eyes from the reality that is. Obama is a marxist and a proponent of Black Theology, combined, you have a religio-political mindset that is working to enslave America. No sir, If I met Obama in a pub, I’d be thrown in jail...

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” — Author Unknown

We get the government we deserve.

Well I might have once agreed with this but not now. It's long past anything which the nations people want or desire.

There's little cohesiveness in our nation, far too many foreigners coming here with very different mindsets than that of what America once was...and they vote.

With such a fractured and divided nation how can it be possible "we get what we deserve" when the American Spirit has all but faded....and "we" have little representation of that Spirit by those who seek for political advantage in order to achieve their agendas within our country?.... Additionally often funded by foreign governments or organizations to infiltrate the very seats of power within our country.

I think that RomneyCare may be worse because it is legal.

I’m not kidding about some Freepers thinking that RomneyCare is fine. Ask the Romney supporters on this site.

Probably better correlation is we let people vote and have access to government largess. It ought to be one or the other - then the stupidity factor becomes less important, probably irrelevant. IOW, there have always been stupid voters.

I’m in agreement with every word you write.

If he is reelected, we’ll see real anger expressed in many ways by our side. People are not going to sit idly by as their beloved country is destroyed before their eyes.

This is one very evil man and people must realize that. He has an agenda and is the ENEMY. So are his supporters.

We can express ourselves here today. But if he gets back in our White House, the expressions we make today will be risky.

My grandfather knew Adolf and Joe and Benito. He disagreed with most of their policies but that did not make them evil or did their policies make them evil

Obamneycare is not so much about health care, at all, as it is about re-ordering our society and government, our very lives.

Agreed, health is the smokescreen which appeals to those who seek "health security"...which masks the true purpose of the mandate.

If this is not stopped then anything the government wants to dictate for 'Our good' will be implimented in short order.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised 'for the good of its victims' may be the most oppressive..... It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies...... The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated;... but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end,... for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” —C. S. Lewis, God in the Dock, p. 292.

The reason they preface it is to not be accused of racism. I’ve noticed that its only white people who say “I like Obama but I don’t like his policies”.

If they say “I hate Obama” the black community will start screeching “You hate him because he is black!”.
If Obama were white they wouldn’t feel the need to preface their statements with “I like him but...”

Meanwhile the (rare) black person who doesn’t like Obama uses no such preface. The lovely Haitian black man who lives on the street behind my parents just flat out says “I think Obama is the Antichrist” and feels no need to soften it.
