Obama: ‘We’ve Tried This Trickle-Down Experiment Before — It Doesn’t Work’

The nation needs the so-called Buffett Rule and can’t afford to keep giving tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans “who don’t need them and didn’t even ask for them,” President Barack Obama said in his weekly address.

“As many Americans rush to file their taxes this weekend, it’s worth pointing out that we’ve got a tax system that doesn’t always uphold the principle of everyone doing their part,” Obama said.

His address caps a week-long effort by the administration in promoting the proposal that would require millionaires to pay a minimum of 30 percent of their income in taxes. The Senate is expected to bring the proposal up for a vote next week, and Obama implored “some Republican politicians to get on board with where the country is.”

Yep. Millionaires did ask for the tax cuts. Maybe some celebrity billionaires didn’t. The real problem is corruption. Spending and regulations should be cut very much.

More evidence of his fundamental transformation of the U.S.A. Criminals on Wall Street are not representative of all “rich” people, but zero has made it his goal to convince his followers they are and that all “rich” people are evil and racist - never minding, all along, the (evil and rich) fascist cronies he runs with.

What is capitalism? T. Sowell’s definition...”Capitalism is not an ‘ism.’ It is closer to being the opposite of an ‘ism,’ because it is simply the freedom of ordinary people to make whatever economic transactions they can mutually agree to.” That’s right, barry, it’s just an economic transaction between parties without the gov’t stepping in and controlling it.

I hate this _resident and all he “stands” for. I know this cake started baking a long time ago as we’ve allowed them to infiltrate our state and local gov’ts way before he came along. BO may not be the icing on the cake, yet, but it’s definitely out of the oven and cooling.

Central Planning IS the ultimate ‘trickle down’. Sending our hard earned dollars to DC to let THEM dole it out has never worked before.
Top Down is Keynesian failure.

The nation needs the so-called Buffett Rule and can’t afford to keep giving tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans “who don’t need them and didn’t even ask for them,

The essential mechanism for reducing the taxes of everyone is to reduce the taxes on the rich which results in economic progress, and continuing reductions in government spending. This combination is the only way.

There is nothing trickle down about this theory. There is only the fact that capital accumulation and economic progress depend on saving and innovation and that these in turn, depend on the freedom to make high profits and accumulate great wealth. The only alternative to improvement for all, through economic progress, achieved in this way, is the futile attempt of some men to gain at the expense of others by means of looting and plundering. This, the loot-and-plunder theory, is the alternative advocated by the critics of the misnamed trickle-down theory.

“Obama: ‘We’ve Tried This Trickle-Down Experiment Before”

Would that someone could ask obozo, what he thinks “trickle down” means. He doesn't know, or he would embrace it, or he does know, that it would destroy his effort to crash the economy.

For those who may not know what trickle down means...say a millionare spends a million dollars renovatiing his home, that spent money, multiples itself three to ten fold through out the economy, think of the effect when a thousand people spend a million dollars, think of the effect when a million people spend a thousand dollars...more people working, more people spending, more people paying taxes, add to that energy Independence and this country will once again rock the world.

Yo! You do that now, when you by a used auto from a dealership, if there is a sales tax you are paying it on a used car. I would be willing to state that the product can’t be simply recycled but must be improved in some way, value must be added and the tax would only be on the value that was added. But remember I am opposed to income taxes, the government should not have first dibs on your labour!

I read an article about a tax plan that would tax all purchases at 0.5% from both the seller and the buyer, All other taxes would be eliminated, no taxes on saving or capital gains, but when you purchased a stock or bond the tax would apply.
I know that many here would like a flat tax, but I’m a believer in the idea that you should have first use of the fruit of your labour and that the government should not have first access to your money, that seems like indentured servitude to me.
