A recent report released by the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) found that if EPA regulations are implemented, we can expect to see 7 million car buyers drop out of the new vehicle market by 2025. According to the EPA, the new rules concerning the fuel economies of these vehicles will increase the average cost of these passenger cars and small trucks by $3,000.
It is not surprising that this increase in price will force 7 million people to leave the new car market. Lower income citizens, like college students and small families, will be forced out of the new car purchasing market because they will not be able to find financing for the purchase. Loans have always been determined by personal income, existing debt, and the price of the car. With these higher costs, the NADA expects banks to offer fewer loans. Unable to obtain banks loans, many Americans won’t be able to invest in new vehicles.
Although some say that these more fuel efficient vehicles will help prices at the pump, the point is moot since many Americans will be unable to obtain these cars.
The Obama administration can try to dictate what automakers produce, but they can’t guarantee that the American people will buy cars for inflated prices, or that banks will provide loans necessary to make these purchases. In fact, with these higher prices we can expect to see Americans steering clear of these new options. At the end of the day, Americans are perfectly capable of deciding themselves what sort of car they want absent government mandates and programs. Drivers who want to buy expensive, fuel efficient cars should, and will, be able to. Likewise, Americans who cannot afford these new cars with a high price tag should not be forced out of the marketplace.

Not to worry. The average household income of those buying the Chevy Volt is $177,000 according to one story I read. Obama and his elite buddies will be able to afford the new cars, the rest of us will have no money left after paying for Obamacare anyway.
It’s more than just environmental stupidity.
Pretty soon, every car will have to have stability control, back up cameras, and a black box to record everything the driver does, in addition to the mandatory airbags, smog controls, and other devices that the manufacturers have no choice but to install.
That’s just to start.
The government demands that cars become ever more efficient, while simultaneously demanding that they carry ever more mandatory equipment.
Not a mistake...they’re wanting to eventually destroy the ability of Americans to move autonomously by making actual “legal” car designs impossible or prohibitively expensive.
They’re already well on their way to gutting the 4X4 market.
There are lots of 4 wheel drives that are either already gone or due to be terminated without being replaced by a similar vehicle...

Furthermore, lots of vehicles are being significantly changed. The Ford Explorer isn’t and offroad vehicle any more...its now a large crossover . The Toyota 4Runner no longer has a V8.
It’s a joke and completely unnecessary. There’s no global warming and we’re not running out of oil.
no one is being"forced out of the marketplace. It is guaranteeing that cars will stay on the road much longer than in the past as people fix up their old cars and buy used cars instead of new ones. The EPA will probably at some point decree as unlawful and ban the driving or maybe even the possession of cars that are not "up to code."
The EPA would be perfectly content to drive all car buyers out of the market and assess a UAW tax onto them transferring their money to unemployed union auto members.

Our primary vehicle is a 15 year old Ford Explorer, have replace the transmission and will replace the engine if it goes. Always garaged, the body and interior are in terrific shape. Rather than purchasing a new vehicle, we will continue to drive this one until the wheels come off.

The great thing about the old JEEP’s is they are just simple, no fuel injection or computers. It it stops running you can fix them with a hammer, bailing wire and chewing gum. LOL
We we hit peak oil and run out of gas I will build a Wood Gas set up and run the JEEP on Wood Gas.
Between it and our 2006 Mustang.
I do not think we will need to buy another car for at least our lifetimes.

How many will drop out due to the increase in the price at the pump? Its 2012 at its roughly at $4.00. How much will it be 13 years from now?? With China & India’s consumption not going down anytime soon, the sky will be the limit!
