Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) told Univision that he had a fruitful conversation with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) yesterday afternoon about introducing a watered-down version of the DREAM Act.
Rubio and Gutierrez also huddled with Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and Rep. Charles Gonzalez (D-Texas).
“It was a great meeting. Look, I am going to meet with anyone independent of their political party or what perceived or real political benefit my association [provides] as long as it does one thing: stop the deportations,” Gutierrez told Univision News in an interview Wednesday evening.
“He said it and we agreed with him; today was not a day for us to come together because there is no proposal to agree on,” Gutierrez said of Rubio. “It was simply a conversation opening dialogue.”
Under Rubio’s version, certain undocumented minors would receive legal status, but not a special pathway to citizenship. Gutierrez has derided that alternative as the “Stolen Dream Act,” but said he’s now willing to give Rubio a chance to see how the proposal comes together.

Here’s an alternative: stop providing rewards to illegal immigrants and their families and we will have fewer illegal immigrants and their families.
Rubio is dumb as a box of rocks.
Rubio is no conservative if he supports any version of amnesty for illegals.
Hispanic Americans who are more Hispanic than American are really not the assimilating types who have made this country great.
The children eligible for the Dream Act may be innocent, but so are the American taxpayers who must pick up the tab.
Anyway, those kids are eligible for schooling and financial help in the country of their parents.
I'd prefer he have a "fruitful" conversation with Gov. Brewer regarding anti illegal immigration.

Remember GHW Bush and "READ MY LIPS...no new taxes"? The Senate Dems kept telling him if he didn't propose new taxes, the economy would spiral into a second Depression. He bought their shit and got it passed. By the afternoon news on the day he signed the bill, the Dem's were on every network and cable channel in this country saying "Bush Lied". Didn't even give him 24 hours grace. The favorite TV commercials shown daily by Clinton showed Bush saying "READ MY LIPS, NO NEW TAXES". The whole thing was a setup, just as this is for Rubio. Any thoughts he has for rising politically, he can just put out of his mind. Guano Nacho's (or, something like that), Marco....they will eat your lunch like a crispy taco. As a matter of fact, they will probably give you a new name and will hound you with it....: something like BURRITO or TACO or Little DREAMER. When Debbie Wasserman-Shitz takes your Senate Seat, you will wind up as a Real Estate Lawyer in a dingy little storefront office in Miami. It was nice while it lasted, amigo. Thought we had a winner for a while. "Whoever coined the phrase "Republicans are the party of stupid", hit it on the mark. (Obviously a Dem correctly coined it.)

Well, thank goodness the talk of Rubio on a national ticket is over. Anybody who thinks it’s a good idea to reward illegal alien parents by coddling their kids is a moron. Another magnet to attract the third world hordes to America is exactly what is NOT needed.

This issue has evolved into one of La Raza over the U.S. Very few hispanics care anymore about whether illegal hispanics stay or go.
