Newt a “RINO among Rinos”?
Legal Insurrection ^ | Friday, April 27, 2012 at 8:05pm | William A. Jacobson

You have got to be kidding me. This trashing of Newt by Erika Johnsen, who apparently just started blogging at HotAir, is so over the top:

"Newt Gingrich’s decision to wait a week to officially drop out of the presidential race was kind of a non sequitur (but then, it fits with Newt’s normally quizzical attitude of 'you need to get on my level' pomposity, so… wash)…."

"Here’s what you can do to help the Republican party, Newt: don’t. You overstayed your welcome in the presidential race by a long shot, frequently looked absurd, and constantly undercut the GOP’s credibility. I lamented about this when it happened, but the day that the 'true conservative' Newt Gingrich committed the one unforgivable political sin — throwing free enterprise under the bus — was among the most disillusioning I’ve yet experienced (but… I’m still young. I’m sure I can look forward to plenty more of that in the future, womp womp.) While I’ll admit that he had several shining, brilliant moments of insight when even I cheered, the conservative cause should be all too glad to see the back of him…."

"With ‘conservatives’ like Newt Gingrich, who needs liberals? If he does continue to act as a conservative voice in an attempt to ‘help’ the Republican cause, let’s hope he uses his wonkishness for good and keeps the damaging blather on lockdown."

The way supporters of Santorum were treated by a few here was sickening.

You are correct! Mr. Speaker would not be proud of the way his supporters behaved on this site. Nasty is a mild word for it.

HOW MANY LIBERALS do you think sat with Romney when he designed his pro homo law? Or his Romneycare with his $50 abortions! They were ALL liberals.

Does your contempt for a conservative Newt BLIND you so bad, you no longer can see the obvious!! That was what mitt was hoping for and spent millions to bring it to pass. Obsessed over a ‘theory’ vs. pro homo and abortion! Mitt duped you good!

Mitt Romney is no businessman.

Romney’s conduct at Bain Capital was to capitalism like a junkyard is to automobile manufacturing.

Romney made money by investing in companies, leveraging them up with debt, and then selling them off for scrap, allowing Bain’s investors to walk away with huge profits while the companies/stockholders wound up in bankruptcy, laying off workers and reneging on benefits. People who formerly worked for Mitt Romney describe him as the meanest, nastiest man for whom they’ve ever worked.

Steven Jobs was no cupcake and could be cruel to his employees too, but he created lots of things people want to buy and literally created an economic sector in the U.S.A., or damn near it!

Both above are considered capitalism, but one is preferable because it creates jobs and economically enables the future. Romney did nothing of the sort.

what America needs right now is a businessman who truly understands and respects free markets as a powerful force for worldwide prosperity, wealth,

This writer is utterly clueless. Mitt has very little understanding of Capitalism. If Mitt truly understood Capitalism he would not have done 90% of what he did in MA.

Mitt worships at the Alter of State Power. This writer is ignorant beyond words.

ALL of Mitts time in government illustrated a vile man who loves to grow the State at the expense of the Capitalist system. Mitt's DNA is wired to view the State as inherently good.

Mitt has an obsession with AGW and Carbon control. I guarantee that he would greatly increase the power of the EPA.

If this writer believes that Mitt will take on "big government" then she will be sorely disappointed.

Mitt does not deserve the vote of ANY Conservative, because at the end of his term, things will likely not have improved, the debt will still be skyrocketing and all the media and the RATs will rant 24/7 "see the hard-core Conservative actions by Mitt Romney have been an absolute failure. Conservative ideas are damaging the Country."

Then in 2016 another Statist in the RAT party will continue the decline.

Somebody find me a picture of Dr. McCoy from Star Trek.
Caption: “You just can't keep hacking at a man when he's down!”

Same goes for all the Santorum bashing, we have bigger Mitts to fry.

We are either going to have to re-define RINO or the Republican party. The whole (GOPE) party now is the definition of what RINO used to mean. This almost begins to mean a RINO is a conservative like Palin, she is Republican in name only... There’s nothing else Republican about her or many of the other real conservatives that are still claiming to be Republicans. There’s a big reversal in the definition happening. Lindsey Graham is an example of a RINO by the old definition, Palin would be a RINO under the developing definition. Maybe being a RINO is becoming a good thing?

“No contest and you know it.”

BS. There were Santorum supporters on here prior to Florida repeating outright lies about Newt’s personal life and the ethics charges brought against him. They would also talk down to and call Newt supporters terrible names. Get off your high horse.

“If she doesn’t know where she was when the landslide election results came in Nov of ‘94, she needs to shut up. “

She was in the sandbox when that happened.... She’s a good example of what sort of people get through the College Republicans nowadays- she might know a word or two about capitalism, nothing of social conservatism, and figures if she wears the right color shirt, she does her part for the team.

Please don't endorse Romney, Newt. It won't make the GOP-e's/Mittwits any less jealous or resentful of you than they already are.

It's not that they attack Newt because they support Romney. It's that they support Romney (if as Johnsen does, they do support Romney) because they can't take Newt.

Newt alienated and irritated an awful lot of people before Romney even appeared on the scene, to the point where they would never think of voting for him.

I guess that works the other way around as well: people who backed Newt didn't do so because they love him, but because they couldn't stand Romney. I don't think jealousy's a major factor -- I wouldn't want Newt's life -- but if it is, that cuts both ways as well.

Even many Newt supporters acknowledge that the viciousness came from your side, trapped.

Vicious, childish, vitriolic, nasty, untrue and beyond reproach.
You guys win the title.

Maybe that’s why your guy went up in smoke. POOF!

I don’t acknowledge anything, and could care less what others acknowledge. The nastiness came from your side prior to Florida. Period.

Maybe that’s why you’re guy went up in smoke. POOF! Although he’s set himself up for a good gig with The 700 Club when Robertson retires.
