Department of Labor Backs Down
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 28 April 2012 | John Semmens

Posted on 04/28/2012 1:51:47 PM PDT by John Semmens

The Department of Labor announced that it was withdrawing its proposed rule banning the employment of persons younger than 16 years of age on farms.

“There are many hazards in agricultural work,” observed Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis. “Dangerous machines, sharp tools, and large animals pose a threat to those working in this environment. Our aim was to protect children from being injured or worse. We had no idea that farm families routinely call upon their minor children to participate in undertaking the tasks of running the family business.”

An outpouring of opposition to the proposed new rule from the farming community was what persuaded the Department to reverse itself. “The message seems to be that engaging one’s own children in such dangerous work is both an economic necessity and a way to train the next generation to take over the business,” Solis acknowledged. “I suppose if we are going to have family-owned farms this is necessary. But given the hazards, we might want to think more seriously about restructuring the industry. It seems there would be considerable economies-of-scale from consolidating the current hodgepodge of individually owned farming units into larger collective or communal operations.”

How much more info does one need to realize these people have no frickin' idea what goes on in the lives of ordinary people. They should all be kicked out of their jobs.

Maybe the Department of Labor will come to realize that just living is dangerous. They need to stay in Washington and leave the people alone.

They knew damn well that they did.

This was a way of bankrupting family farms so they could be transferred to Eric Holder's people.

Another obama commie appointee. She was doing it for the children. My rear end. The commies were doing it to pile more unneeded regulations on the backs of the american people in hopes of creating new income streams (taxes) so they can hire more commies, that we don’t need. We must politically destroy this communist crowd come November.

This statement in the first paragraph sums it all up: “we had no idea”.

This Solis gal was doing it to advance the day when all farming is conducted by large Soviet Style Collectives.

Some of these Commies are totally brain damaged ~ they still imagine Stalinist BS works ~ which even the Commies said didn't work.

I don’t know what SHE knows. It’s obvious she’s at the very least a willing dupe of the statists dreams.

She’s a ways down the food chain. I’d look at the likes of Cass Sunstein for the original source.

And it’s right out of Coward & Piven’s “collapse the system” theory which is a big fave of William Ayers.

Obama’s the mouthpiece with the big toothed grin, reeling in all the gullible minions.

These people really are pushing their luck. They should keep a close look over their shoulders.

They may just pick on the wrong person one day.

Just sayin.

Did not the Soviets try EXACTLY this in the 1920’s-30’s, starving millions in their effort to “collectivize” farming?

For her statements in this regard, Hilda Solis earns the Road Glide “Red Star award of 2012” for being most true to communist ideals.
