Bill Ayers Tells Oregon Students American Empire is Over
Brian Koenig ^ | 5/2/12 | Brian Koenig

Left-wing cook Bill Ayers visited the University of Oregon (of course) last week to brainwash students about the ever-obscure notion that is "social justice," which is the code phrase for, social-ism. The speech was not free from Ayers' typical radical ideology he is so well-known for, as he propagated about the end of America and the launching of a new world. He wasn't too specific about the latter.

Almost as interesting as Ayers’ speech itself, perhaps, was how the leftist radical was introduced by the university students. One girl, who described herself as a doctoral student at the university, spoke of the privilege they would have with their honored guest, in an “evening [of] radical imagination.”

Two other individuals, a professor and a graduate student, asserted: “Most of us have in one way or another acknowledged the sovereign authority of the U.S. government – or the state of Oregon– in order to be here tonight, either admission to the university, applying for a job, or just paying the parking meter. We have not, however, asked permission of the [Native Americans] whose ancestral home this is, and to fail to acknowledge that this remains disputed territory would in effect be taking sides, [and] reinforce the erasure of indigenous history and indigenous peoples.”

If this was a sane group of individuals, there would be rolls of laughter. But these people most likely subscribe to such propagandic thoughtlessness. (Side note: they should be asking permission of Elizabeth Warren, because, well, she's purportedly a "Native American.")

Anyways, Ayers' "end of the American Empire" schtick went as follows:

The great challenge for our generation [is] to find a way not just to live differently as individuals, but to find a way to think differently about what work means, to think differently about citizenship means, to think differently about what it means to be a ‘citizen of the world.’ One of the great dangers that we live in right now, is I don‘t think there’s any question, and I don’t think any of you would question, that the American Empire is in decline – that economically, and politically, and in some ways culturally, that we are in decline. And yet, the United States remains the most powerful, weaponized military system the Earth has ever known.

The economy may be in decline, as well as this nation's fiscal status. So he's maybe correct on some level. And if government bureaucrats continue to spend beyond our means, as well as continuing to allude the skyrocketing debt of entitlements -- which, note, Ayers' approves of -- then maybe he, quite ironically, has a point.

Do not worry—Nationalism always trumps internationalism. Look what happened to international communist USSR? No, look to see all of the socialist nonsense fold up like a house of cards and a new wave of ultra-Nationalism sweep the nation. flags, images of Washington, Liberty, Lincoln, etc... all will be coming. The Teens will look more like the 1950s. Bill Ayers and all his leftist chums will be old men with rejected ideas—if they are not in prison for Hooliganism or Anti-Americanism. I see the left will be in power for a while longer then rejected in a cultural/political move to the right.

Amen Brother, and neutered they are.

Never in the history of America has one party shown such cowardice.

Declaring Ameica over is just the selling point Obama needs to bring out the voters for his re-election.

All Rommell has to do is stay quiet and run Bill Ayers video over and over.

I bet if Palin or Hanity or Limbaugh was giving a speech, there would be protests and attempts to prevent. Then they would have to watch for the pie throwers.

No, Mr. Ayers; your era is just about over. You will be despised. That's your legacy.

On some level I think we can all agree - the age of the corrupt, top-down industrial era structured society IS over.

And for rugged individualists this is ultimately, likely a good thing.

This is a common refrain from both left and right. Americans generally have little time perspective. If they did they would knock off the heavy breathing over the declinist or triumphalist schools of thought. The USA is a relatively new nation compared to most of the established nations such as France or even ones that were only unified politically recently such as Germany or Italy. We are likely to be around for a very long time and due to the sheer size and power we possess are going to be involved in many international brouhahas. US power relative other state groupings will wax and wane but always be very significant and likely to be one of the top two or three contenders for international power . The more important questions are how we approach problem states and potential adversaries and even more important how we organize ourselves at home. Even in the worst case scenario which would be some sort of armed internal struggle in the US once the dust settled the USA or any successor state would soon be back on the road to global powerhouse and world economic and military titan. The new Rome we may be but we are very far from worrying about the arrival of Attila.

Bill Ayers is a ‘mad bomber’. That young woman who wants “an evening of radical imagination” could arrange to camp out down range of a skeet shoot ~

Good, then the military is sufficiently robust to start working on the domestic enemy within that cheer leads for and masterminds the decline.

Typical liberal, a hypocrite. I don’t see Bill leaving and donating his land back to the Indians. Besides, who did the indians take this land from?

I’m not sure there ever was an actual American empire, but the country is certainly in a flat spin at the moment.
