There was a little mentioned tangent to last Friday's very disappointing NFP print of +115,000 (driven by a surge in temp jobs offsetting a collapse in full time positions): as David Rosenberg notes, the jobs number was about half of another far more important number - that of Americans applying for disability , which in April was +225,000. He continues: "this is the new stealth stimulus program - so far in 2011, nearly one million Americans have applied for disability and year-to-date, 333k have actually enrolled (covering 539k family members). In total, more than five million people have been added to disability coverage since President Obama took over three years ago."

They’d better vote Democrat! The GOP will take away their benefits. Or that’s what we’ll hear.

I know from personal knowledge that law firms that specialize in getting people disability benefits are a growth industry.

During Jerry Springer and similar programs, most of the commercials are for injury lawyers, bankruptcy lawyers, and disability claims lawyers.

My new neighbor in KY has been fighting for Disability for years. Lawyers would not even take his case. Well, one finally did and about 10 month ago he got it. It was as if he won the lottery. First thing he did was buy a new pickup.

My wife works for a law firm that specializes in it. She is not a lawyer. The lady who started the firm is making money like gangbusters. Pisses me off, but a job is a job.

Actually, come to think of it, a lot of the people my wife works with are terminally ill and there brains are not working all that well. They couldn't do it on their own.

A lot of those people had medical insurance, and their government check usually goes to the insurance company, not them.

Not all people who get it are gaming the system, but a lot of them are.

Sad but true. Unfortunately, sometimes we need to force people to see reality. I remember a time when I was young and not working (was attending college). Reality started to sink in that I had to get a job or not eat. On the other hand, government needs to get out the way of business and allow businesses to create jobs.
