Its a presidential election year, and the sexiest topic this cycle is campaign finance. With the national conversation tuned to Super PACs, the staggering income disparities between major donors and the rest of America, and Wolfgang Pucks appearance at the $15 million Obama bash headlined by George Clooney, The Braiser wanted to know: how do celebrity chefs support political candidates? With fancy dinners? With non-connected joint expenditure committees? With hundred dollar bills baked into pies and delivered to campaign headquarters? We dug through the Federal Election Commissions individual filings, as well as POLITICOs old trash, to find the chefs who have donated the most to either party either through individual donations, or via fundraising and bundling efforts. Here are the top 15 though its worth noting that overall, the total amount donated by numbers 15 through 5 are obliterated by Nos. 4 through 1. Hooray for campaign finance laws!

Such a man knows NOTHING about food stamps. That’s just a coordinated excuse to go on an anti-republican rant on a non-news channel at election time
Are these chefs feeding the homeless?
If you’re in show biz - and let’s face it, the restaurant biz is as close to show biz as you’re gonna get, you have to be a rat. It’s just not coooooooooool to be a Republican.
Mario Battali looks like a hog on ice!
As far as being Republican... I'm not either. I won't vote for liberals, and that's all the GOP has put up at the top of the ticket for ages.

I wonder what Lidia's political persuasion is? She's been accused of keeping slaves.
Never heard of most of them. Rachael Ray is a porker as is Ina Garten. Only disappointment is Roy Yamaguchi, but not a shocker given this state’s neurosis.
I always knew Bobby Flay was a Homobama lover. I hope his souffles fall.
The disappointment is Marcus Sammulsson.
Aren’t a lot of chefs, gay?
They have too. Moochelle and her food fetish has probably twisted many an arm in the Chicago Fashion. Thank G_d Guy Feiri isn’t on it yet.......... They rest are now off my watch list on the Food Channel. Sucks to be them....
I am sick and tired of artsy craftsy restaurants, bars, shops and people. A restaurant should have sturdy tables with red checked table cloths, cook food on a grill, cast iron pans or over a wood fire. Southern, Western or Basque food is always good although a New England stew is okay brom time to time.
A bar should smell like stale beer and sweat. You should Stan or sit at an old wood bar backed by bottles, draft spigots and a fly specked mirror. A pool table is essential and a couple of moth eaten deer heads are good on the wall.
Shops should sell sensible dry goods or hardware.
People should be appropriate to the above businesses.
The 1% that is loved by all.
I would never set foot in their establishments.

Then why are you commenting on this thread? It’s about celebrity chefs - particularly those on the Food Network. I can assure you, the article was not about sous chefs and line cooks.
Personally, I think it’s idiotic to not own a tv.
