50 Free self-reliant and preparedness books for your Kindle reader
Self Reliant Info Blogspot ^ | 5/24/12 | Atticus F

Many of the free books are simply old books from the early 1900s that are in the public domain, but there a number of newer ones too. Of course, some of the older books are useful just because they often describe how to do things without complex machinery or modern processes, which is very helpful for the self-reliant do-it-yourselfer.

Below is a list of 50 Kindle books that are related to self-reliance and/or preparedness, which are free to download (at least as of the time of this writing).

By the way... don't have a Kindle e-reader? No worries. Don't forget that you can download apps for both Mac and PC, most smartphones or tablets, and also read the books in Amazon's free online Kindle Cloud Reader

Let me add mine own work to this list.

For those who are just starting or are old hands at prepping you may find my Preparedness Manual helpfull. You can download it at:

http://tomeaker.com/kart/Preparedness1j.pdf

NOTE! THIS IS A FREE DOWNLOAD. I DO NOT MAKE ONE CENT OFF MY PREPAREDNESS MANUAL!

For those of you who haven’t started already it’s time to prepare almost past time maybe. You needed to be stocking up on food guns, ammo, basic household supplies like soap, papergoods, cleaning supplies, good sturdy clothes including extra socks, underwear and extra shoes and boots, a extra couple changes of oil and filters for your car, tools, things you buy everyday start buying two and put one up.

As the LDS say “When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has past.”

Or as the bible says: A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
NIV Proverbs 22:3

Lastly this for the doubters and the scoffers.

“There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger.

Underestimation can be fatal.”

Yep. Google books has a lot of old free books that are in PDF and EPUB format that can be downloaded to a cheap reader (I don't/won't use Kindle). I have hundreds of them in mine.

Forgot to mention that I recently downloaded "Where there is no Doctor" from the WHO and it works great on my e-reader.

Thanks for the info Kart...

It isn't free, but in the same vein: every serious prepper should have one of these too: Henleys Book of Formulas

You can sometimes find them in the discount bin at a Brick & Mortar bookstore for a buck or two.

No thanks, I intend to die an inglorious death of thirst and starvation when the power, water, and transportation systems disintegrate.

Too bad most people can’t understand these books because of the piss-poor public education system. They actually used words more than 6 letters long. This must shock some people.

Oh,thank you. I learned the hard way about eating antelope just because it hadn't bloated yet but these old books are a gold mine.
Some of them were written pre-refrigeration and contain excellent hints you can't find anywhere else.

LOL! A lot of my studies are from books from the 18th and 19th centuries.

If you see a post of mine that seems rather old-fashioned or dated, you can bet I've recently had my head stuck in an old book. ;)
