Its basically a no-brainer decision for us.
Glad to see they weren't exceding their minimal capabilities.

I know this is semi-satire, but it just runs a bit to close to reality.
They would hand a child a condom sooner than they would an inhaler!

Durn near got me on that one, John I use a ‘rescue’ for my breathing problem and I can easily visualize some crazies in the school system locking the kid away to die out of sight. It ain’t a pretty, but it’s the way of ‘bama, don’tcha know? He and his whole supporting cast are into not just ZPG, but negative growth.

And yes, I know this is satire.

I assume we can take it that this ‘fictional’ healthcare worker would not then drive a preggers teen to an abortionist on the sly, right?

If that were my child, I’d be all sideways on the nurse, principal and everyone else at that school. Then, I’d pull my child out, sue the crap out of them for reckless endangerment, and then push to have criminal charges filed for neglect. I’d also demand that the nurse lose her license.
Home schooling... where common sense overrides a no brainer.

I know the story about the inhaler being denied is a true one. It was in the news down here as well.

I know this is satire, but my daughter was bitten by a brown recluse earlier this year. It was on the back of the leg, and the wound abcessed. She got really sick and had to take antibiotics. The first day she went back to school, we sent in the meds and a note from her doctor. It was a Friday, and I had to work. The school calls and tells me that the doctor’s note was not on the correct form, and not only would she not be able to take her medicine, they would not allow her to bring it home. They said tey would only release it to me. My husband can’t just up and leave work, and neither could I, and it was already late in the school day. I wouldn’t have made it in time anyway. I had to beg and then threaten to get them to send her meds home.

The schools Director of Student Health Services, Cheryl Selesky, defended the nurses action saying that its a matter of liability. If we allow him to medicate himself without having the proper papers filled out and he dies, the parents could sue us. If we follow our rules the blame for any ill consequences falls on the parents for their failure to complete the required paperwork in a timely manner. Its basically a no-brainer decision for us. People like this need to be removed from society.

You can’t make up stuff like this. A school nurse denies medication to a child having a asthma attack ... I think we have the personal and institutional winners of the month’s “Stupid Contest”.
