Labor Unions are not dead. They are reloading.

Labor unions suffered a setback in Wisconsin last week, but anyone who thinks they've been knocked dead is living in a dream world. There are laws on the books which ensure that the unions will always bounce back. Scott Walker knocked them down, but they will come back up like a bobo doll, and long after he is out of office, they will continue clutching for more power. All the laws are on their side.

The only certainties are death and tax [exemption]

Labor unions are categorized as tax-exempt 501(c)5 organizations. In 2010, these organizations collectively held $32,498,906,714 in assets. This number comes from the combined assets of all labor unions and farm bureaus. After all their expenses, lobbying efforts, and voter intimidation efforts, these organized labor gangsters still have more money than the entire GDP of many countries. None of it is taxed, and 92% of them are in violation of Dept. of Labor audits.

Yep. They’re like termites in Florida. You can keep them away, but they will always return. Just like sin, lazy thinking, and liberalism.

So is the Tea Party. We are in this for the long haul.

I have nothing against unions per se. However, public sector unions and laws that give private sector unions unreasonable powers, like the right to force people to join and pay dues, should be illegal. Public servants should be just that, not union members colluding with politicians to squeeze taxpayers.

With fewer members on the roll...they can reload all they want. And if they spend a ton of money in the 2012 election....to lose massively, what happens in the 2014 election? There’s bound to be almost no union help left for that election.

The only way to eradicate this evil that has tentacles in our society is to teach our young ones and future generations. But, the only way of combating the evil is to Never fall asleep again. The Tea Party and it’s ideals must always be in the foreground watching and participating in government. Keeps things honest in my estimation and to the detriment of the far left.

The cure for diseased unionism is to remove it from the public sector totally, make them as taxable and at the same rates as businesses, make their management as transparent as businesses and finally, make membership fully voluntary and dues paying non-automatic so members have to write a check.

Do this and its my guess they will disappear in about five years

You're right, but the remaining unions are that much more virulently criminal!

I have something against unions per se—as our laws give them thug-like powers in the private sector.

Their injury when applied in the public sector is even worse.

Remember that this evil is in our schools teaching our children that their right and wrong is better than their parents right and wrong.

I mentioned in my post that I oppose laws that give private unions special advantages, like mandatory membership and dues. Do you have something against voluntary associations of employees used to bargain for better pay and benefits? I don’t.

You make it sound so benign.

It's not benign.

If the employers had the right to fire striking workers, it might be, but they don't. Since they don't, the company management is held by brute force to pay more for less, meaning more capital for less work, which is the ultimate outcome of most union deals. That and violence.

Just ask the auto makers. Or the people in Wisconsin (or me).

Those voluntary associations would be fine if they didn’t have all kinds of laws giving them special advantages over employers—and they do.

They will keep coming back until our country is ruined and everyone - including themselves - are in poverty (regardless of the amount of worthless dollars they have in their wallet or bank).

That's my take on it. We should have the right to associate or not associate with anybody we choose, but when certain *groups* receive special privileges, protections and advantages, it's a violation of the equal protection clause, IMHO.

“The only way to eradicate this evil that has tentacles in our society is to teach our young ones and future generations.”

EXACTLY! And this is why in the last couple of weeks I have been posting so often about changing or eliminating our public school system.

We are being forced to pay higher and higher taxes to employ union (aka communist) teachers who have done a great job in distorting the founding of this country and why it USED to be so unique and more successful than the other countries of the world.

If we continue to allow this communist brainwashing of our K-12 children/grandchildren, is there any doubt the brilliance of the founders will be lost?

If however we can make it mandatory that our youth learn and UNDERSTAND what the Founders created and most importantly, WHY, it will be very hard for the remaining communists in this country to convince our future leaders that big government is the way to go.

So, after you have knocked them down, pass some laws to keep them down.

Well, of course. Because like all liberal/socialist/communist ideals, they rely on forcing other people to PAY FOR IT. They cannot get people to pay willingly, so they pass "laws" criminalizing those who refuse. You could apply this to almost any social program, arts funding, education policy, environmental "protection" etc. in the country as well. Just watch how fast people would become "conservative" if they were required to fund their own liberal policies! Suddenly, all those high-and-mighty causes wouldn't be quite so important to them.
