Although those of us in the blogosphere lack Maraniss's resources and access to friendly witnesses, we have been debunking Obama's Dreams for the last four years. As I note in the introduction of my 2011 book, Deconstructing Obama, "In unlocking [Obama's] past, I have discovered that the story that Obama has been telling all his life varies from the true story in ways big and small."
Maraniss documents those variations better than I ever could have. "I counted 38 instances in which the biographer convincingly disputes significant elements of Obama's own story of his life and his family history," writes Smith. According to Maraniss, and this comes as a revelation to Smith, Obama falsified his bio largely to portray himself as "blacker and more disaffected" than he really was.
What is missing from the Maraniss book, however, is any real understanding of how Obama came to do this. A little background is in order here. It just so happened that Barack Obama was not the only black icon in his neighborhood to write a best-selling memoir. Boxing great Muhammad Ali produced one long before Obama, and he too with more than a little assistance. In Ali's case, that assistance has been well documented by black scholar Gerald Early.

I wouldn’t expect pearls of wisdom from Maraniss. This is the clown who when asked by Don Imus how smart Obama was, said that Obama’s IQ was “off the charts.” When Imus asked him exactly what Obama’s IQ was, Maraniss didn’t know. So I doubt Maraniss would reveal anything really destructive of Fearless Leader if he found something. His head is already too far up The Great Spreader’s anal orifice.

Agreed. I smile as I read your descriptive follow up. Last night Piers Morgan on CNN had on as a guest David Maraniss. I had purchased the book "Deconstructing Obama" by Jack Cashill and know it is first class and does not engage in vituperation of the now President.
Mariniss did a masterful job in his own right and his own agenda. He skated over one notable area of a young man's past. He gave out an almost garbled sentence, giving out mention of the "choom days" of a young activist Obama. He quickly moved on. Clever and smooth Morgan praised Maraniss for his lengthly biography and then threw in very quickly that "still some things that are not known". He smiled and suggested that a second book by Maraniss, might tell us more.
Maraniss sort of hinted that if more was forthcoming there just might be a second book. Not good for the blood pressure, so I resisted yelling at the television. I could have said, "just the facts, just the facts"- the facts we ain't gonna get. Not from these guys.

So true. He hasn’t hesitated a nanosecond to leak top secret classified information if it makes him look like a tough guy CINC. How would it make any sense to assume he’d invest so much energy in HIDING material that would make him look as good as his idolaters claim? It just doesn’t compute.

That was one of the first things that caught my eye. There are a plethora of connections between this dude's rise to power and communists, America-hating muslims and other sundry bad actors. Even a cursory vetting should have been enough to ensure that he never got anywhere even remotely close to the pResidency.
Amazing that the MSM could track down the specific Brazilian hookers involved with the Secret Service debacle in less than a week, but cannot bring themselves to connect the dots to Zero over four (and more) years.
I don't know about his IQ, but his ego is certainly "off the charts."
I have never seen anything that leads me to believe Ubama’s intellect is anything but mediocre.
