Tim Conway destroys his castmates during a sketch on the "Carol Burnett Show" by refusing to let the scene continue until he can finish a story about a circus elephant. Unedited:(Language at end)

Its my all time favorite Tm Conway cast harassment scene. Carol Burnett was getting kind of pissed but Vicki Lawrence broke them all up.

This reminds me to look up the Carol Burnett Show and Mama’s Family on Netflix. They don’t make comedy like this anymore. Just awkward, stupid jokes about sex.

More proof that today’s comedians know nothing about comedy.

I understand that Tim Conway was supposed to have one short line about the elephant. After ruining the first take with his elephant story, Conway ad-libbed some comedy gold with the Siamese Elephant story. The "Oh, God, here we go again" look on Carol Burnett's face at the beginning of the second take was classic. The laughter in this skit is so contagious that I can't help from laughing even though I've seen this video dozens of time.

Apparently, Tim Conway took particular joy in surprising the other skit members with ad-lib lines trying to get them to break character and laugh. He even forced Vickie Lawrence to drop her head so the audience wouldn't see her laughing. Conway once said the Lawrence was always the hardest skit member to get to break character.

Yep...that’s among the funniest skits from that great show. And only one no-no word in it.
Today’s ‘comedians’ could take a lesson...

Tim Conway is one of the funniest comedians ever, and his time with Carol and friends was priceless, not only to the viewers, but the cast probably had more fun just being together.

There are few comedy shows that actually make me laugh out loud. The Carol Burnett Show is one of them! There are DVD releases planned for later this year:

That was great! I enjoyed it tremendously. And now my wife is looking at me like I was a giggling fool.

Still the funniest ensemble ever assembled. Conway & Korman in the dentist office makes me laugh just thinking about it. Thanks fortune laugh....I really needed it.

It was a perfect use of that word, not gratuitous. Definitely better than what passes for most comedy nowadays.

The Carol Burnett Show was a Saturday night staple at our house.

The scenes between Conway and Korman were usually priceless, the dentist scene being a classic. One of my favorite characters was the old man or old butler whose slow motion shuffling was enough to get the audience laughing before any lines were said usually because Korman was already biting his lips in anticipation of what Conway would do as an ad-lib.

The first time I saw this I couldn’t sleep (it was ~2:30 a.m.) and was flipping through the channels when I came across the Carol Burnett show rerun.

As I watched Conway tell this outrageous story, slaying all of his castmates one-by-one (except for Carol Lawrence, aka “Mama”) in the process, I ended up laughing so hard I had to cram a pillow in my mouth to keep from disturbing my neighbors (cheap apartment complex!).

A day or two later, I ended up at my opthalmologists’ office, who determined that I had burst a blood vessel (from laughing at Conway’s story!). I didn’t tell the opthalmologist but, knowing I laughed that hard was, somehow, satisfying.

Since then, I have seen the bit a few more times. It’s STILL one of the funniest moments EVER in television and I have NEVER figured out how Carol Lawrence managed to keep a straight face and stay in character through the whole thing. In fact, it is delicious irony that her line at the end, typical of Mama’s ascerbic nature, ended up destroying Conway!!

This was entertainment at its finest, IMO!!

Tim Conway’s son is a Talk Radio host. Anybody ever listen to him?

Same here at my house! I think she came on at 9 or 10pm EST after All In The Family

I think that this is the single funniest piece of television ever. Red Skelton and Abbot and Costello had some great skits, but the look on Dick Van Dyke’s face as Tim Conway goes through this story is priceless.

I also STRONGLY recommend the "choreographer" sketch from Tracey Ullman's Show with Steve Martin:

Here’s another raw recording (rehearsal, not on the show) where the cast takes a lot of liberties in “modifying” the script ... language warning:
