Calm down. The end hasnt come yet, not quite. But you can feel it coming, a dull, oppressive presence like the heaviness of the air before a storm, or the quickly widening fissures that consumed the House of Usher. Future historians, looking back on the wreck of the Obama administration, will mark with wonder the presidents darkly frivolous assertion of executive privilege this week. It was then, they will say, that his administration, that the president himself, officially entered the Period of Panic and Flailing.
Its not going to be pretty. Expect a season of recriminations, grandiosities, and sudden reversals. The usual narrative holds that Obama asserted executive privilege, denying Congress the documents it requested in the murderous case of gunwalking called Fast and Furious in order to save his Attorney General Eric Holder. Perhaps. I wouldnt be at all surprised if, at the end of the day, this spectacular piece of recklessness wasnt regarded as the beginning of the end for Eric Holder, who will likely face a Contempt of Congress citation next week. Already, various outlets are preparing the ground by quietly inserting into the discussion the name of Alberto Gonzales, the attorney general under President George W. Bush who was hounded out of office by Democratic zealots after he fired some U.S. attorneys. The idea, I suspect, is to upholster the ground so that when (as I predict) Holder is forced out Obama cheerleaders like the New York Times can resort to the tu quoque strategy: Well, Bushs attorney general had to resign, too, and some of his staffers were held in contempt.
Will the upholstery work? Will it successfully insulate public opinion from the damaging facts of the case? I doubt it. For one thing, the two incidents are screamingly different. As usual, Andy McCarthy outlined the issue with superlative clarity:
[T]he Bush situation involved (a) a non-crime (presidents do not need a reason to fire U.S. attorneys), (b) a non-scandal manufactured into a scandal (Bush 43 fired 8 U.S. attorneys; Clinton had fired 92 of the 93, and for no better reason than partisan patronage after he defeated Bush 41), and (c) patently improper subpoenas to the presidents personal staffers who are not subject to Senate confirmation and assist him in his constitutional duties. The Obama/Holder situation, to the contrary, involves outrageous government malfeasance in firearms transfers that led to murders, including the killing of a federal agent, and a patently proper subpoena for documentation maintained by the Justice Department, an agency created by Congress and dependent on Congress for its existence, funding and jurisdiction.
We need to keep those differences in mind as the story unfolds. We also need to remind ourselves of how blatantly, er, economical Eric Holder has been with the truth as he testified under oath before Congress. He didnt know about Fast and Furious, no sirree, until the day before yesterday, except that internal Justice Department documents show he knew about it back in July of 2010. An email discussing Fast and Furious was really about an operation called Wide Receiver and was overseen by George W. Bushs Attorney General Michael Mukasey, except that it wasnt, as Holder eventually acknowledged (without, however, apologizing to Mr. Mukasey). The more we know about Fast and Furious, the more it appears that Holders testimony before Congress is a tissue of evasions, equivocations, and outright lies.
For ordinary folk, lying under oath is a serious offense. What does it portend for above-the-law elites like Eric Holder? At the very least, I suspect, it means that he should be polishing his resume. And heres something else to ponder: as I say, Obamas assertion of executive privilege has been widely interpreted as an effort to protect Holder. Yet I cant help thinking that behind that spectacular performance I hear the revving of a bus engine, a bus that has Eric Holders name on it and that he is shortly to be thrown under. Sure, the president wants to conceal something by asserting executive privilege. The dramatic and politically risky nature of the act naturally leads one to suspect that it is something serious. You cant hear the phrase executive privilege without thinking Watergate, a word you cant hear without thinking cover-up, Nixon, impeachment. In fact, Fast and Furious is far worse than Watergate. No one died in Watergate. Dozens of people are dead as the result of Fast and Furious, including at least one U.S. citizen, Border Agent Brian Terry.
No, Obamas assertion of executive privilege will do little if anything to save Eric Holder. Its chief effect, I predict, will be to focus attention more sharply on the great questions that have not been sufficiently plumbed: Who is Barack Obama? What does he have to hide?
Regardless of the liars, cheats and crooks ensconsed in the White Hut, America had best re-elect Obama or his worshippers will burn down the cities.
I’m surprised LA wasn’t hit after Rodney King died in his swimming pool. The death was related to all the stress caused by the police beating.
IMO the odds of the MSM turning on Obama are pretty low. He and F&F are still getting a lot of cover from the media. It is going to have to get a lot uglier in a short period of time for Obama's sycophants in the media to stop protecting him.
The degree of blind loyalty he is getting from blacks and the left is just plain creepy. The Jewish population's loyalty to him because he is a Democrat is also spooky. He has been so pro Muslim and anti Israel that logic would expect mass defections from the Jewish voters. He's losing some, but the numbers suggest that American Jews are wearing blinders and have an atrophied sense of survival.
Again, just my opinion.
I expect a resignation before Aug.
Yeah and didn’t Rodney King look just like 0bama’s father, if he had one.
No problem if they stay in the inner cities. Burning down their own neighborhoods has become a hobby with them.
What they’d better not do is come out here where we rednecks live. There’s a reason they’re called a “minority”.

Please let it be so.
Make the mistake of lying to a cop, and see if you can “retract” your statement after the lie is exposed. Go directly to jail.
Yes, the media is still doing its best to treat the story as a minor one, and to confuse people by trying to make it sound like Bush started the program.
Holder stays. Status quo. They’ll drag it out into the second term if they can. Like Carvel and some ‘Pubs contend they hope it will trigger a backlash that will energize the base and promote re-election.
See the movie "Ship of Fools".
As for Clinton firing 92/93 US Attorneys, he was also masking the firing of the US Attorney that was investigating some of Governor Clinton's "improprieties".
Good grief!
Holder's resignation before August, Obama stoking the race riots to begin shortly thereafter, as a warmup to the major riots after losing in November.

Yes, let it be so. And once 0mugabe starts really going down, the piling on will be a joy to see. And Arpaio’s press conference is going to be (I read a few days ago) in 3 weeks or so, because of copious info pouring in....
I have. A long time ago.
I remember this quote from Lowenthal: There are a million Jews in Germany! he declares. What are they going to do, kill us all?
At first I thought OMG how horrible. Then I ran through the list. New York, L.A., Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Seattle, Austin, Miami, Cleveland, Atlanta Etc. And I'm thinking, "And the down side would be...?"
I’d like to see the mother of agent Terry quietly show up at all of Obozo’s appearances around the country wearing a shirt with a picture of her son on on it.
LOL!
Yes, never underestimate evil.
The Sheriff’s pushing eighty, and I wish him another 20 good and vital years! He’s got good old American grit.
My BILs wife is Jewish. Her “faith’ in government is such that I often wonder if it doesn’t exceed her belief in God. Everything in life that is imperfect, she believes can & should be solved by government. She also sees individual rights as disposable if they interfere with this. Well, everyone’s rights but hers, of course. It is remarkable how she assumes that she will somehow be exempt from the despotic machinations of her desired all powerful government.

If there’s one thing Obama has been good at, its been selling firearms. But for all the wrong reasons.
It would be a real shame if holder goes early, and doesn’t get a chance to SELL a bunch of pardons again...
That's the weird anomaly in the liberal soul. The elite are working to take everyone to the lowest common denominator except themselves and the ones who support them are willing to become subservient as long as they have a sort of royal or privileged class of 1/2%ers to admire.
But, unfortunately, law by no means confines itself to its proper functions. And when it has exceeded its proper functions, it has not done so merely in some inconsequential and debatable matters. The law has gone further than this; it has acted in direct opposition to its own purpose. The law has been used to destroy its own objective: It has been applied to annihilating the justice that it was supposed to maintain; to limiting and destroying rights which its real purpose was to respect. The law has placed the collective force at the disposal of the unscrupulous who wish, without risk, to exploit the person, liberty, and property of others.
Sometimes the law places the whole apparatus of judges, police, prisons, and gendarmes at the service of the plunderers, and treats the victim when he defends himself as a criminal.

I refuse to suggest we may have to actively engage in the kind of warfare that the 82nd ABN had to react to in 67-68. I can tell anyone that no soldiers or marines who have been to war, want this division that Obama has created.
From day one it was a race lecture by Obama. Then it was more divide and conquer with rich vs. poor, etc. It keeps on a coming. Obama can play the games, but; the military has already been at war. They will not follow him. No man with a CIB ever wants to kill again.
Speaking of the end of the nobama administration, I love this quote from George Washington that I stole off your home page. Describes nobama perfectly: “No punishment, in my opinion, is too great for the man who can build his greatness upon his countrys ruin!”
I hope there are many studying to follow his example, in the VERY near future. Ever seen this site? My County Sheriff is involved, and has fought the forest service in my county.

IMHO Obama has “NO” friends or they are dropping him like fly poop. I seriously doubt Obama will be be the one on the Democrat ticket this time.
Executive Priveledge makes sense if you directed the Justice Department to create lots of Dead Mexicans so you can Destroy the Bill of Rights (2nd Amendment).
Did Barack coordinate mass murder for political gain?
I expect a resignation before Aug.Who? Jay Carney?
Certainly not Holder or Obama.
0bama’s cousin 0dinga..
It would be great to see Terry’s Mom follow 0 around to his rallies, but I believe his regime now considers any protest in the vicinity of certain Secret Service entities to be a federal offense.
I’m pretty sure Romney gets an exemption and can fully enjoy unrestrained protests.
Obama’s problem, as well as that of the United States is concerned, is that he’s an absolute nothing. No accomplishments and a background that Dillinger would be proud of: stealing largesse from a national treasury and doling it out to his cronies through the going-bust companies or service organizations they control. In short, this evil man-child trapped by a HS sophmore brain, has committed enough crimes to wear a jump suit at Leavenworth the rest of his life.
The crouch salutes should have clued us in to his hate for America and its citizens.
He is though an accomplished Chicago sewer rat that hustled his lying ass through various Illinois government jobs whilst he groped for the White Hut. He knew he’d be elected because the evil left had sewn enough racial guilt attacks on the nation that an off-the-street negro(Or an out-of-the-gutter communist) dolt would be elected to utterly ruin the nation.
America can learn. The nation can learn to never let a catastrophe like Obozo happen again. We may have dodged the bullet to the extent that we have lost only part of our brain by the attack on America; and make no mistake this weasel did indeed take a shot at us and damned near murdered us.
...as a warmup to the major riots after losing in November...Oh, I don't know... When he loses in Nov, there may be pockets of protests in some inner-city, welfare-dependant, trash-ridden obama-villes, but overall I think most of the talking-heads who lead the "leachers-of-society" will be silently glad to be off the hook for continuing to support the doofus. I think they are tiring of having to cover for him with ever more imaginative excuses that they, themselves, are straining to believe anymore.
From their point of view, the dude hasn't delivered like he promised. US Soldiers are still kicking ass over in the sand-box. Gitmo is still operating. Obamacare is about to be "stolen" from them by a bunch of "unelected" black-robed klansmen (there's your big protest potential!!). Gas isn't $8/gal and people *still* drive those evil, polluting SUV's. His "stash" wasn't distributed far enough down the food-chain. All he did was grease the palms of his union masters and the big-wigs. Flowery speeches only warm the statist heart for so long. They need to see actual "progress" made in the people's struggle!! He has been more of a disappointment than anything else. They all know it, but loyalty to the team prevents them from admitting it in public.
So, chin-up man! When he loses in Nov, I think there will be far less bee-atch-ching than when the SCOTUS evicerates Obamacare. I think the prevailing mood among the statist talking-heads will be as a funeral wake. They will be too busy trying to "one-up" each other over suggesting what sort of perpetual monument to erect to the first black, Kenyan, moose-limb-raised, US President.
I agree. I have several acquaintances who backed him in '08, and they simply do not want to talk about him. They're embarrassed, and will be relieved to have him off the stage.
I coach basketball (not my day job) and know many black parents who fit that description. My Jewish friend is less embarrassed than the blacks, but refuses now to talk politics. It's the embarrassment factor, he's now seen as incompetent. They'll just stay home Nov 6.
Same here. I have several liberal friends who refuse to talk about him. One said they got taken for a ride. I think he’s going to lose big time.
I have another Jewish friend, member of a prominent liberal and influential family here in my hometown, who has undergone a slow but sure transformation over the years, dating back before Obama. His first Republican vote was cast for McCain.
When Obama came on the scene, my friend went against the rest of his family, and backed Romney from the beginning. Then Herman Cain came on the scene, and, like most of the rest of us, went for Cain until Romney won the nomination. He’s in his mid-40’s the youngest in his family. He abhors Obama. Is he an aberration in the national sense? I don’t think so.
