“Those decisions are entrusted to our Nation’s elected leaders, who can be thrown out of office if the people disagree with them. It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.

Not a supreme court justice, but being the simpleton I am I can still see the severe flaw in this statement. If political choices result in legislation that not only blatantly violates the letter of the constitution, but the intent of those who wrote it as well, that's exactly what SCOTUS is supposed to do.

So, no longer a constitution of negative liberties?

That is how I see it also. the only remedy that I can think of is for freedom loving states to leave the uniion and start over as a free country.

This is about far more than health care. The U.S. Constitution has just been nullified with this decision!

That's the whole thing!

Roberts’s job is to interpret the constitutionality of law, not to stick his finger in the political winds or manipulate the political process. He has failed in his job.

The intent of those who wrote it are marxist in content, and marxists do not recognize the Constitution. Roberts does not recognize the thought behind this act, merely seeing it as a political decision by people we put into office.

The fact is that his future office as a judge is in jeopardy in the case of a marxist takeover of our federal government, with or without a legislature. He has given them a legal tool to aid the takeover— mandated behaviour and when said behaviour is not done as directed the individual may be penalized with a tax. This is unheard of and clearly NOT Constitutional.

A simpler explanation is, Roberts knows the Right will only burn him in effigy.

Sincerely, screw this article writer.

These are the same arguments the left gives us because Obama’s “so smart” we can’t figure out what he’s doing.

Screw that.

Roberts said he didn’t want 5-4 decisions on big issues like this. Violates his own principle and goes 5-4 to uphold. Didn’t want to rock the boat. The constitution be damned.

The GOOD that comes out of this is fleeting and short term. True, we will have far more motivated people to get Obama out of office in 2012. But then what? The freaking precedent that the government can tax you if you don’t buy something is still there.

Roberts is a traitor to the Constitution. He has not upheld it. He betrayed it to smooth things over with Obama. Plain and simple. Arizona, another example. The eminent domain case, another example.

John Roberts is playing at a different game than the rest of us. We’re on poker. He’s on chess.

You think you can read his mind ?

Be damned if I can figure how he sided with wackos on the left on the court

Just keep saying it and you’ll love Big Brother!

I agree! I posted this because I still have hope for this republic, and trying to find a silver lining in all of this. Maybe there is one. Maybe there isn't. I will never give up hope on the willingness of people to fight to be free. If you're not willing to fight for freedom, then shall I pick out your chains for you?
