Let's Talk About Global Warming

The Global warming Scam was obviously created by a group of people who had something to gain. A LOT of money has been made by certain people in the right positions.
Our own Governor,  Jerry  Moonbeam Brown has a personal vested interest in Global warming.  You see, Moonbeams  family owns rights to a patent on catalytic converters.  Uncle Jerry and his family have made a LOT of money off of this Global Warming scam, dating clear back to the early 1970's.

The main function of a catalytic converter is to "convert"  CO,  (carbon MON-oxide),  into  CO2, ( Carbon DI-oxide) .

Here's  a short quiz:

Do you know what type of gas your government says is the most dangerous "greenhouse  gas", the one that is the main cause of Global Warming?

Yep.  It's  CO2.... Carbon Dioxide.  The same gas that our new cars, with catalytic converters, produce in large quantities.

So,  one question should be:  WHY did our government make the car companies produce cars that make CO2,  and then turn around and tell us that CO2 is BAD ?? ----  Food for thought, my friends.

I am old enough to remember the T.V. commercials back in the early 1970's,  put out by the Federal Government.  They derailed  Carbon Monoxide as being a "poisonous gas",  killing thousands of people each year, causing all kinds of trouble for people with breathing problems,  yada  yada  yada....  Then the commercials would turn to Carbon Dioxide, and you would see beautiful flowers and trees and rainbows in the sky, because plant just LOVE CO2.  Plants breathe in CO2  and produce OXYGEN, so people have nice, clean,  fresh, oxygen-rich   air to breathe......... It all sounded so PERFECT !!

On these Government funded commercials, you definitely got the idea that by making our cars produce carbon DI-oxide instead of MON-oxide,  we could make everything all better in our world.

Those commercials ran a lot back around 1971 and  1972,  just before catalytic converters were FORCED upon us, by the Government.  Car manufacturers had no choice,  it was a Government mandate.  The people had no choice,  we just had to believe the flowery commercials they showed us.

By 1973,  catalytic converters were upon us and the automotive world has never been the same.  Older people remember the  "rotten egg" smell of converters, it was very common, as the converters tried to do their job with carbureted engines.  When the converters got a little overloaded with carbon from an overly-rich carburetor, they put off a smell that was unmistakable.

Later,  in the early 1980's, vehicle were switched over to fuel injection, which cleaned up exhaust emissions enough to keep the converters from clogging up and smelling so bad.

By around 1986, thanks to fuel injection and better ignition systems, the emissions from cars and light trucks were basically as clean as they would ever get.

Also,  by the late 1980's, cars and light trucks were getting about as good of gas mileage as they would ever get.   The gasoline-powered engine had basically reached a peak for both fuel mileage and clean emissions by 1990.

However, these engines, even the newest versions,  are still producing large amounts of CO2,  and our good Government has been telling us that CO2 is BAD for the atmosphere !!

It's funny how they aren't telling us how GOOD  CO2 is for plants anymore.  According to our good and caring Government,  there is NOTHING good about  CO2 these days.  I suspect even plants have rejected CO2 it at this point, if they listen to the drivel that is coming from Washington D.C.

But our newer cars produce huge amounts of CO2, as MANDATED by our good government.

Go figure......

In my personal fleet of vehicles,  I have a 1988 Chevy pickup,  with a 350 cubic inch V-8 engine, with a simple  TBI (throttle body) fuel injection system and single catalytic converter. This truck is so simple to work on, I want to keep it forever.  It has 190,000 miles on it and is still running strong.  When it finally wears out,  I will probably re-build the engine and keep it going as long as I can.  It runs great, and it gets good gas mileage for a pickup, even when compared to brand-new trucks.

I also own a 2009 Nissan Sentra, with a small 4-cylinder engine, which includes a complicated computer-controlled fuel injection system, extensive electronic wizardry, three catalytic converters, and so many exhaust emission sensors, you'd have trouble counting them all.  This car basically has all the smog equipment and electronic controls the Federal Government could throw at it.  This car can be a nightmare, because if something --  ANYTHING -- goes wrong with the engine or fuel system,  the car either shuts down,  or goes into "limp-home mode",  where it will not go faster than 50 M.P.H. and it will shudder, buck and snort in protest all the way home.  This happened a few months ago, when the computer-controlled fuel injection system had a small electrical glitch.  The problem had to be fixed by the dealer, of course, because all of the electronic complexity of new vehicles basically cuts out the average shade tree mechanic. To top it off, this car doesn't get any better gas mileage than my sons old 1990 Sentra.  No improvement in gas mileage in 20 years.

Just as an experiment,  I recently took both of these vehicles to my local smog guy, to have them checked out, tuned up and gone through.   He hooked up both of these vehicles to his smog machine, installed the tailpipe sniffer and tested them.

The results??   My 1988  Chevy  V-8 engine,  with 190,000 miles on it,  ran just as clean as the 2009 Nissan 4-cylinder engine, which has less than 40,000 miles on it.  The exhaust emission numbers were VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL !!   I am not kidding you, I saw the numbers myself.

The smog guy just smiled and nodded his head.  He already knew what the outcome would be and he was not surprised at all.  He has been smogging cars for the past 35 years and he has seen NO improvement in exhaust emissions for the last 20-plus years now.  Gasoline-powered cars are literally as clean as they will ever get and it has been that way for at least 20 years.

So, the big question would be:  WHY has the Federal Government continued to FORCE our car manufacturers to produce cars that are more and more complex and expensive over the last 20 years? We already know that they are NOT getting any cleaner, so what is really up with this ??

My old Chevy truck is a vehicle that just about anybody could work on.  If something goes wrong, a red light comes on the dash to let you know, but the truck still runs and gets you home without any drama.

When something goes wrong with your newer cars, the vehicle will literally shut down on you and leave you stranded, or it will make the trip home a very anxiety-filled event.

WHY ??  What is the purpose for all of this added complexity, if it isn't doing anything to improve gas mileage or smog emissions??  Why would the newer cars shut down on you,  or go into "limp-home mode",  when there is no reason for this kind of drama?

Our Government, as I said earlier, beats us over the head for our CO2 emissions.  They tell us we are killing the Earth with all of our fossil fuel burning.  Nobody has come up with a better alternative to petroleum and we are still buying petroleum from our enemies and funding their terrorist operations, because we can't drill at home, so what is actually improving here?

Our Government  figured out a long time ago that a little GUILT goes a long way.  They make us feel GUILTY for our "carbon footprint", which makes us willing to pay through the nose for useless automobile technology.........  But WHY??

You want to talk about the National Debt,  worth over $16 Trillion dollars?

You want to talk about the money that we have spent on wars lately?

You want to talk about the Trillions we have thrown down that Black Hole we call the Welfare system?

Well, why aren't we talking about the TRILLIONS of dollars we have already spent on this War Against Emissions??  This country is going broke.  Cars are getting more complex and expensive for no reason.

We have reached a point of NO RETURNS,  NO BENEFITS, from the increased complexity of our cars and light trucks.  We reached the high-point of emission control 20 YEARS AGO !!

This so-called war on emissions has made NO improvements in the last 20 years, and it is producing NOTHING, except MORE CO2 in our atmosphere. That's right, we have paid $$  Trillions to make the CO2 problem WORSE.  And all of this has been mandated by your Good Government.

Seriously, what should we make of this situation??  We have literally been backed into a corner by our government.  They are telling us we are BAD, because our "carbon footprint" is too big,  but they are causing us to make an even BIGGER carbon footprint, with their policies and regulations.  We have literally been regulated into a corner, with no way out.

Here's something your government doesn't want you to know:

One good-sized volcano eruption can produce more greenhouse gasses than a full year's worth of human activity.  Your Good  Government doesn't want you to know that.  They like to keep their subjects nice and stupid, so we are easily manipulated......... It seems to be working.

Back in 1979, Jimmy Carter signed the Education Department to cabinet level status.  This move was opposed by many in the Republican Party, who saw the department as unconstitutional, arguing that the Constitution doesn't mention education, and deemed it an unnecessary and illegal federal bureaucratic intrusion into local affairs.
However, many Liberals and Democrats see the department as constitutional under the Commerce Claus, and that the funding role of the Department is constitutional under the Taxing and Spending Clause.    --- you gotta love those TAX and SPEND Democrats ---  The National Education Association supported the bill, while the American Federation of Teachers opposed it.

--- For the record, I believe the Republicans and the National Federation of Teachers were correct in opposing this behemoth that has cost this country so dearly.

Maybe not so coincidentally the establishment of the Education Department happened right after they started making us drive around with catalytic converters on our cars, and smelling the rotten-egg odor of clogged converters.

Since the inception of the Education Department, the Federal Government has done a great job of dumbing-down our students and indoctrinating them into the Government -controlled mind-set.  For the last 35 plus years, we and our children have literally been subjected to Government control of our thinking.  Nearly two full generations of dumbing-down and brainwashing have occurred.

So, we have a Government who forces catalytic converters upon us,  knowing that those converters actually INCREASE Greenhouse gasses.  Then, they establish an Education Department, to dumb everyone down and make us believe that everything our government does is for our own good.

I believe that one of the functions of our government is to protect us from our enemies and each other.

When they step over the line, is when they try to protect us from ourselves.  Our personal freedoms in this country have been eroded to the point that we have lost our individuality. We should be able to choose what kind of car we can buy, or what kind of house we want to live in, or what size of soda we want to drink.  Our government is working hard to take all of that away from us.

Am I getting warm with this idea?   I probably should be expecting some men in black suits and sunglasses to knock on my door anytime now.......

I wonder how many people knew that Jerry Brown has made millions of the Catalytic Converters.

It always amazes me how leftist politicians always get away with pushing regulations on the public that ultimately makes them richer and us poorer.

On a related subject, I used to own a 1980 Dodge D-50 pickup (that I converted to a convertible). It used a Mitsubishi four cylinder engine with a catalytic converter built into the exhaust manifold. The converter was this cylinder about 5” in diameter and 6” long that was basically like a screen on a screen door but the squares were square tubes six inches long.

I was getting terrible mileage and had heard this might be the problem. I took it off the car, separated the halves, and most of the tubes were clogged by what looked like the material had melted like wax.

I used a chisel and hammer and broke the whole thing away (it seemed to be ceramic) and bolted everything back up and the truck ran great until I sold it several years later.

Won’t CO eventually become CO2? Allowing cars to output more CO won’t do a thing to improve global warming. I remember before catalytic converters, air pollution was a real, tangible problem, in urban areas. Reasonable environmental regulations from the early 1970’s were probably sensible, but the tree f***ers got the bit in their mouths and over egged the pudding, to mix metaphors.

—The problem had to be fixed by the dealer, of course, because all of the electronic complexity of new vehicles basically cuts out the average shade tree mechanic. —

Baloney.

I had a 1980’s dodge omni that stopped running and I parked it in my garage and could not for the life of me figure out why it would not start. So I let my daughter use my 1987 Plymouth reliant. A couple weeks later it stranded her at work.

It was then that I learned about Chrysler computer codes. I did the key turn “on, off, on, off, on” and the check engine light flashed the codes, Morse Code style. I bought a code book from the auto parts store (this was before the internet was much use for this sort of stuff). The reliant said it had a defective Map Sensor. I went to a junk yard and they gave me one. I installed it in about 90 seconds and the car started right up. I then tried this with the Omni. It said it had some obscure electronic part failure (I forget which one). I found it at the back top of the drivers side fender and it looked like a relay. I replaced it for $12 at an auto parts store. The car started right up.

I’ve used the codes since on my Lebaron convertible and my Chrysler 300m (which displays the codes numerically on the odometer). The bottom line is that if it is something to which the computer is sensitive, the car will tell you what’s wrong with it. And most of the time it’s something you can fix yourself easily and cheaply.

Article Ping.....

Tim used to leave comments on my blog, and one day I liked his comment so much I posted it as an article.

Since then he has been sending me rants he has about various crap going on that irritates him. Most of his rants are about California, but like this one some of them hit the mark for the whole nation as well. So I thought I would share it with everyone here at FR.

If you like it, do me a favor and leave a comment at the blog for him.

If you would rather just post a comment here, then let me know if it is alright for me to post your comment at the blog for him to read.

I remember friends who used to live in Ca telling me that moment they left the state they would have the catalytic converters removed from their cars. They all told me that their vehicle ran better and their gas mileage improved dramatically.

Catalytic converters also convert unburned hydrocarbons and nitrous oxides.

These were originally installed in the 1970’s when global cooling was the issue of the day. They were designed to produce CO2 and H20.

Nothing to do with global warming.

The person who makes the most money off of global warming is algore. He’s pulling down $20 million a year.
