MSNBC's Wolffe Lumps Romney With John Edwards: 'Moral Questions' About Fitness For Office

In one of the uglier MSM smears of the presidential campaign to date, MSNBC's Richard Wolffe has tried to tie Mitt Romney with one of America's most reviled men: John Edwards.

Appearing on Al Sharpton's MSNBC show this afternoon, Wolffe somehow suggested that Romney's decision to invest overseas and legally trim his federal tax bill was akin to Edwards reprehensible behavior. According to Wolffe, there is a "moral question" hanging over Romney, just as there was regarding Edwards.

I realize that there are a few thousand people that watch MSNBC. Conservatives are probably the biggest audience, kinda of like spying on the enemy.

I do that sometimes to see what DU is talking about.

If they wanted to stay afloat, they would not have people like the Rev.(sic) Al Sharpton as a host. I am not sure who Richard Wolffe is but he looks like a sissybitch.

In the old days, when the country was young, if you impugned someone’s honor, there would be a duel.

I have many problems with Romney politically, but his personal conduct is above reproach, in contrast to John Edwards, who even disturbed John Kerry:

Edwards was also a liar long before he was a philanderer. When Senator John Kerry met with Edwards to tell him he would be his vice presidential nominee, Edwards explained his reasons for being in public office, and it was something he’d never told another human being: it was Wade’s death. Tears welled in Edwards’s eyes as he told Kerry how he’d climbed on to his dead son’s coffin and cried.

Kerry was disturbed, not by the image of Edwards clambering on his dead son’s coffin, but by the claim Edwards had never shared the story with anyone before — Kerry had heard the same story from Edwards two years earlier.
