No Drivers license, no proof of insurance.

Shouldn't the car be impounded until a legal driver can be found to drive it?

Exactly right...even with ObaMarx’s “hands off illegals” policy, they should still have to obey the laws. There are ways to fight this insanity. If they repeatedly have their cars taken away, I bet they’ll stop driving. Then maybe they’ll GTFO.

This entire article makes no sense.
There are Federal laws, and there are state laws.
Our present dysfunctional and incompetent federal government forbids states from enforcing Federal laws. That's immoral, unethical and self-destructive. Fine.

But the federal government has absolutely no power to forbid a state from enforcing its own laws.

So what gives?
Lack of jail space? Impounding an unregistered car is perfectly normal. Impounding an uninsured car is perfectly normal. Jailing an unlicensed driver is a public health issue.

It's probably reasonable to expect that citizens and legal residents would rather have these criminals in jail indefinitely than share their highways with diseased, unskilled and criminal illegal aliens.

So why isn't that happening?

Yes and the legal OWNER of the truck.

Many of the cars/trucks illegals drive are cars bought from the unsuspecting public. If the plates stay with the car/truck and they have about year left on them what is the likelihood anyone without a license would transfer the ownership in to their name?? Once in their name it’s a huge red flag should LE run the plate.

Full disclosure.. 20 years ago because I was a legal but stupid kid I lost my license for 5 years.. Every 8-10 months I would by a car from john q public that had at least 8 months left on the registration..

I never transferred the title. I just had the person that bought it from me transfer it from the previous owners name to theirs.

It happens all the time. when I list a old car for sale I always include “free ride to DMV to transfer ownership at time of purchase”
