I have a stupid question, why are we harassing the American public to "find illegal alliens" if they're just going to be released anyway? Or, is this just another example of government efficiency at work?

I wouldn't call this exactly "harassment." And they ask the question because illegal immigrants, especially on border states, are intermixed with the local citizen populace. All released? I don't thinks so....Some are some aren't. Hopefully, the usurper Obama is elected out of office in 117 days or so along with his unconstitutional policies along with him not upholding US law.

There are better ways of doing this than by using Federal goons to stop an require citizens to show their papers, not to mention answer some stupid yes or no question. Do you really expect that to get the illegals out of America?

Sure there are, but I don't know this guy's true agenda. I expect the moral laws to be upheld by this government.

A better way would be for the State police to have a means to check via a driver's license check, work related checks, public service checks and etc.

Yes. But leftist agitators allied to illegal immigrants would be crying about a "police state" if they did that, which cowers the spineless politicos.

Don't forget that now, the Feds will not even accept illegal allien referrals from Arizona anyway...

That's a shame and hopefully that will change early next year when and if Obama is out of the Oval office.

I don’t mind proving that I’m an American Citizen...

And how do I prove I'm an American? I suppose we could start issuing internal passports, as in the old Soviet Union, but - as another poster said - liberty entails risk. I'll take the risks and keep my liberty. No checkpoints or "let me see your papers" in America - please!

The government may be poking us to get us to react but that would only help with their other goal to justify their jobs, funding and hire more people.

I disagree that Mr. Anderson is part of the play, except that maybe he is playing the role of someone who is willing to do his part to protect our freedoms?

You know, like some service members have given their lives to do...

Ah, FreeRepublic. Home of Law and Order Republicans. You know, the kind that will join a Home Owners Association so he tell his miscreant neighbors how and when to cut the grass, and where to park the cars.

No liberty can be considered too precious not to give it up in order to transfer risk!

I don’t mind proving that I’m an American Citizen. Hell I’m proud of it!!!!!

I'm proud to be an American also. However, it occurs to me that since I don't have a passport, I have NOTHING in my wallet that PROVES my citizenship.

Does anyone know what the Arizona law specifies as proof of citizenship? This made a great Cheech Marin movie, Born in East LA.

I think a lot of people would have no problem if the routine at these checkpoints was, show us your driver’s license, we’ll check it against the INS database, and if you’re not illegal, go on your way. However, that’s not what happens in real life.

Just like at a DUI checkpoint, the cops will be looking your car over for tail lights out, missing mirrors, cracked windshields, or anything else they can give you a citation for. They’ll also be peering in your windows to see if they can spot anything to give them probable cause to search your vehicle, and failing that, they may try to talk you into giving them permission. Also, just like the DUI checkpoints, for every illegal they catch, they will probably write hundreds of citations for non-illegals. So, in reality, the basic purpose of these is not to catch illegals, but to generate revenue.

They just can’t call them “Revenue Generating Checkpoints”, or people would be up in arms. So, they call them “Immigration Checkpoints” and people think “great, they’re finally doing something!”

What AZ requires means nothing. I guaran-damn-tee you that outside of my safe deposit box, I possess NOTHING that will in any way PROVE my citizenship and I bet most others here are in the same boat.

I’d do the same things that this guy did. Why on earth would we have checkpoints within the interior of America but not close the borders?

And another thing, why have checkpoints covering DUI or DWD activity but not check people as the leave bars and clubs?

So you are supporting the Obama administration position? I was not ready for that. SOmehow, I think I’d rather research what Arizona is doing since they are on the front line and their governor seems to be taking this seriously.

When a person posts a Youtube video, they can include a written description that appears just below the video player. The description written for this video says:

“Westbound I-8 in Southern California (an East-West highway that NEVER intersects the international border).”

Assuming that is true, I can guarantee you that nobody in California is looking for illegal immigrants for purposes of rounding them up and deporting them.
