You don’t have to be a grief counselor to realize that it is important to tip toe cautiously around topics involving someone’s departed spouse.  Especially around anniversaries.  Unless you’re the NAACP.  Then what you do is drag the deceased’s name  into corrupt politics.  Or criminal voter fraud.

BarbaraGibson Last month, Barbara Gibson was bracing herself for an emotionally challenging time as a widow.  It was roughly a month from the tenth anniversary of her husband Mike’s death.  Although born “Gary Michael Gibson,” everyone else only knew him as “Mike,” the fun 6’ 4” country boy who gave up becoming a city manager to be a trucker.   Besides reminiscences of her family and photo’s, the only other reminder was a monthly Verizon phone bill that she never bothered to change after his death.  And it was an odd reminder because although his voter registration, drivers license, and all other official documents never referred to him as “Michael Gibson,” the Verizon bill was addressed to this name he never used any other time.

MGstickynoteBarbara received her first shock when a filled out, voter registration card from the NAACP arrived in that odd name of “Michael Gibson.”  Barbara has been involved in Greater Houston conservative GOP politics for some time and both she and her husband were not the traditional target market of what Rush Limbaugh called the “NAALCP.”  Mike himself originally was a Democrat, but was not “colored” except for the sunburned neck Barbara jokingly remembers from when they first met.

Your site reminds me of one of the great feature of Free Republic — no pesky add-ons trying to load up and overwork your computer. I gave up waiting for your page to load, so I could only read what you felt necessary to share here.

And from that amount of data, I’ll say that while I wouldn’t doubt the NAACP might try to register dead people, it is absurd to charge them with a deliberate attempt to do so simply because they sent forms to someone who just recently died.

I recently received a voter registration notice about my late mother. The fraud machine is going into overdrive. Anybody know who best to report it to?

I was actually able to get through to the web site (it WAS slow!) and read the article...it’s pretty compelling and not by accident. It’s quite a lengthy article, and if you can get through, worth reading. I came away from reading it believing that it is an ongoing fraud taking place right now....I could be wrong, but that’s how I read it.

I believe that the article says that he has been dead for almost 10 years.

You are correct. I was thrown by the awkward phrase: “Last month, Barbara Gibson was bracing herself for an emotionally challenging time as a widow”. But the next sentence said it was a month before her 10th aniversary of his death.

I guess the 10th anniversary could be an “emotionally challenging” time, but I would hope that one could at least get over the major emotional trauma after 10 years.

Still, it is odd to get on a mailing list after 10 years.

Call both your state Ag's office and state SOS. Also notify the County Clerk's office as in most states they administer the elections. If any or all are D go to the post office and report it. To send material for illegal intent through the mail is a federal crime. Let each of them know you have spoken with the other. You might also volunteer to be a poll watcher, locally. Extra hands and eyes make cheating difficult.

How about sending them to PETS who have been died? Not only to we have to contend with dead people voting, now we have dead PETS voting also. That is what it absurd.

One month short of the tenth year after death is NOT recently.
