Virgil Goode: Why Romney cannot win Virginia with him on the ballot
July 14, 2012 | techno

Posted on 07/14/2012 6:41:56 PM PDT by techno

This is a follow up on my post on Virgil Goode and the impact he will have on the presidential race in Virginia.

Here are a breakdown of the electoral numbers from the 2004 and 2008 presidential elections and the PPP poll on Virginia released a few days ago:

-----------------2004----------2008--------2012

---------BUSH--KERRY-----MCCAIN--OBAMA--ROMNEY--OBAMA

Overall----54---46---------46-----52-----42------50

WHITES-----68---32---------60-----39-----51------41

WHITE% OF ELECT--72%----------70%

LIBERALS------17%-------------21%

MODERATES-----45%-------------46%

CONSERVATIVES-38%-------------33%

So folks we see Bush 43 blowing Kerry out of the water among WHITE voters to the tune of 36% and McCain besting Obama by over 20 points albeit in a losing effort. But in a supposedly a much better political climate for Mitt Romney against supposedly an unpopular president Romney can only best Obama by a measly 10 points among white voters. Is there any wonder Romney is going to lose Virginia?

And then what compounds the problem is the Virgil Goode candidacy. Here is the allotment of the white vote in Virginia if he is included in the mix in the PPP poll:

Obama------------40%

Romney-----------44%

Goode------------10%

Gee folks, you think Goode must pose a huge problem for the Mittster, Friends I know many of you are not political junkies like I am but if you can take away one thing from this exercise it is that Mitt Romney will not win any state of the union, let alone an extremely important battleground state like Virginia when only 44% of white voters say they will vote for him on election day. It's time to take your heads out of the sand and realize that Romney is an extremely flawed candidate despite being only behind 2 points to Obama in the national polls.

Way back last year when the Mittbots started finalizing their plans for primaries they made a big mistake with Virginia. We'd just had the 2010 elections and wiped the Democrats off the plate. We had the Governor, lt. Governor, the AG, and all but 3 Representatives. The legislature was ours.

Somebody thought Mitt would be shoe in no matter what he did so rather than waste money planning a campaign during the Super Tuesday coordinated primary period they figured out how Mitt could win ~ by disqualifying all his competitors.

So, that's what they did AND they got caught at it.

All at once Virginia was no longer an easy win for whoever ran as a Republican, Romney had stepped into a quagmire of his own making and now Obama might actually have a chance!

Then, Obama continues to show amazing resilience in states that went for him in 2008, so it's worth his while to campaign here.

Both Obama and Romney spent the week here. Obama in front of protected audiences in highschool gyms (relatively smaller venues than he did last time0 and Romney continued to make unannounced appearances before small clusters of the local gentry, and rich donors.

Neither man has the guts to campaign here. We don't like them!

Sorry, I eat fresh food.

I also cook for my older neighbors.

If you do manage to bag a feral pig, I'll take that and give you sausage. Bring it here within 3 hours, packed in ice. I'll gut it.

WOW ya think Goode can get 19% of the vote ???

I'm sure there are posters here who think Goode will get 19% or more nationally.

Myself, I think we may do just enough in VA and NC to help Obama win those states.

Your bitterness is obvious.

I won't vote for a pro-abortion, anti-gun, big government, socialized medicine liberal.

Sorry you feel like you have to berate those that won't compromise their principles.

There are three or four counties in Virginia that are heavy with government employees, but even in Fairfax county that's just 1 out of 7 employed people.

Most of them are fairly Conservative ~ you get that way working up close to the beast every day. Then there are the military personnel ~ hardly wild eyed leftwingtards.

I"d think it more likely that people whose grandparents were Democrats would be most at risk of voting Democrat, and that'd be the native born crowd in Virginia whose families lived here during the days of the autocratic Byrd Machine.

"Mr. RomneyCARE is a PUSSY except when there is a conservative woman and her children to mow down."

Are you referring to Sarah Palin? Please give me details on how he attacked Sarah. My blood boils just hearing about it.

Virginia is a right-to-work Commonwealth. City, county, and Commonwealth employees are for the most part not affiliated or part of any union. Naturally that’s not true for fed workers.

“Virg is set to be the Ross Perot of 2012.

He will unwittingly send Obama back to D.C. for 4 more years and the end of this once great nation.

The Romney haters here won’t be available for eating crow, because this site will be one of the early casualties of the Obama monarchy.”

Better to get shut down than to be prostitutes for the GOPe.

Shhhhh. You don’t want to take away from the liberal Republican their continuous scare tactic to slowly take our country to the left.

I don't consider myself liberal at all. What I don't understand is what you have to gain if obama wins. You can repeat over and over that Romney is the same as obama, but there is not one hint that Romney is an avowed communist. He may be a liberal republican, but anyone is much better than the Kenyan.

And what do you think the country will be doing during this time? It’ll be getting increasingly angry. Fire purifies.

Virg is set to be the Ross Perot of 2012.

He will unwittingly send Obama back to D.C. for 4 more years and the end of this once great nation.

So what's the problem??? If you know Romney can't win with Virgil in the race, vote for Virgil...Seems pretty simple to me...

“Vote for whoever who want, who cares?
You guys who make a big show about not voting for Romney think we care?”

But yet you keep responding, which means you must care. If you respond to my message it means that you care.

I’ll be waiting.

He will unwittingly

Yeah - unwitting... ha ha ha...

Just like Ross Perot REALLY believed he had a chance to win back then... Of course he didn't. But he intentionally played the spoiler and the rest is history (of course, GHWB was a lame lying one-world goober anyway...).

Who pushed GHWB? The GOP-e that is pushing Romney?

Sad that the clubhouse crowd seems to run the GOP today. They would do better if they pushed conservatism.

When you get your head out of the sand you might take a look at the scum that got put on the SC by the dems. Why would you take a known leftist/commie & allow him to guarantee a worse 4 yrs than now & not take a chance on an alternative? There is no way Mittens could be worse than this evil administration. If so, he would not be around after 4 yrs. I & many others feel that they will support anybody & anything that gets this anti-American Muslum out.

Virgil Goode is a liberal douchebag posing as a constitutionalist. He strongly supported the Equal Rights Amendment in the 70s and Douglas Wilder for Governor. I can’t believe Republicans ever gave him the time of day. BIG mistake. If he is running, Romney needs to devote $1-2 million to utterly destroy him.
