On July 13, 2012, at a campaign event at Roanoke Fire Station #1, in Roanoke, Virginia, President Barack Obama said:

“If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.”

The bolding is mine.

I agree with all of the non-bolded part.

It’s the bolded part that I disagree with.

Just imagine if someone had said:

“If Barack Obama has a Harvard law degree, he didn’t earn that. Somebody else made that happen.”

And...private digital communication started with tinkers in their basements, in the middle of the night, phoning someone a few blocks away and connection their then very basic machines together.

Eventually it grew so that many tinkers would connect at prearranged times. Messages could be “sent” coast to coast but it was slower than snail mail.

Then came “nets” like fidonet that could do a primitive email like pine. When communication became faster and reliable bbs and “chat” rooms evolved.

Then came commercial services like compuserve, prodigy, genie and the like.

It was a wonderful time!

They voluntarily surrendered them, usually an event that take place about 5 seconds before tyhey are about to take it from you.

I have asked several lawyer friends about this... Who told you that? If they did, i am sure they would be the first

If you do not keep up with paying your bar dues and if you do not keep up with your continuing education classes, you can lose your law license.

Many people who have law degrees but who do not intend to continue practicing law deactivate their licenses rather than risk losing it for being in arrears.

Michelle Obama opted for inactive status and Barack Obama opted for retired status.

She could reactivate whenever she wants, but he would have to reapply for licensing. Which implies that she thought she might work as a lawyer again one day, while his action implies that he felt he was done with lawyering.

Neither "voluntarily surrendered" their licenses.

Obama projection tactic. He didn’t do anything and was given the Presidency so he projects that to hard working businessmen. In my view he has just demonized all businessmen which constitutes a very large group of people.

Of course, this plantation has no productive crops, they are actually an academy for the expansion of the crony policies of faux capitalism, in which favored industires are given access to low-cost loans or even grants made directly from the national treasury, in exchange for the continued support of the affirmative action and returning the existing controllers of the levers of power to essentially lifetime sinecures, relatively immune to any sort of public opinion or censure.

While I'm not sure what I've done to deserve your hostile tone, I would point out that you yourself have provided absolutely no source for your claim that Barack Obama or Michelle Obama ever "voluntarily surrendered" their law licenses.

So it seems a little hypocritical for you to claim that I cited no sources - especially when I did cite a source: the Illinois State Bar Association.

You can go to their attorney registration website (iardc.org)and look up the Obamas yourself if you don't believe me - even though you expect me to believe you without citing any official source.
