Obama could single-handedly nullify the 2nd Amendment

When Barack Obama signs the United Nation’s Arms Trade Treaty late this month, the force of his signature alone could suffice to nullify the 2nd Amendment rights of the American people.

How is this possible if a 2/3rds vote by the Senate—that is, constitutionally mandated ratification– is required before the United States may become a legal party to any treaty?

Interested Americans have been told that the Arms Trade Treaty will regulate the international trade of conventional weapons, the purported goal being prevention of arms transfers to rogue or terrorist states.

Naturally, one would think regulations intended only to manage and restrict the trade of weapons to dangerous, warlike or terror-supporting countries couldn’t possibly threaten the constitutionally protected right of American citizens to keep and bear arms.

However, in order to prevent the accumulation and export of possible contraband weapons, the Treaty mandates creation of a global arms catalogue– an international registry detailing the existence, history and ownership records of all conventional weapons.

Every sale, every transfer of a weapon within the borders of the United States would be contained in this registry. The left have dreamed of such a national gun registry for decades and this would give it to them.

How could the gun-grabbing Obama Regime impose this clearly anti-2nd Amendment, Treaty-mandated arms registration scheme on the American people without the Senate first giving its advice and consent?

“When a nation signs a treaty it is obligated to refrain from actions that would defeat the object and purpose of the treaty until such time as it makes clear its intent not to become a party to the treaty.”

This is language from Article 18 of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties. Adopted in 1969, 111 nations have ratified

A theater massacre heavy on weapons, explosives and gear and even HEAVIER on the Internet sales of those items.. False flag? Nahhhhhh... This incident will have the same effect on the 2nd Amendment that the BP oil disaster had on the conventional oil industry in America. How convenient for 0bama these events are. The PERFECT excuses for the implementation of his ‘CHANGE’.

The U.S Supreme Court has held that a treaty cannot be used to circumvent the prohibitions of the Bill Of Rights.

You said this not me: “The U.S Supreme Court has held that a treaty cannot be used to circumvent the prohibitions of the Bill Of Rights.”

John Roberts will just rewrite that so that if the UN calls it a tax then they can tax us buying guns or jail us etc.

“The Senate needs to ratify to give the treaty the legal power to impose it’s regulations...THAT isn’t going to happen”

Yeah, it can.

First, a few liberal senators are called to the Senate chamber in the middle of the night. Remember, the VP is President of the Senate.
Next, they hold a voice vote to relax the ‘quorum rule.’
Then they vote on the Treaty by voice again, so there will be no detailed list of which senators voted for it.

Remember, the Constitution says treaties have to be approved by 3/4 of the senators PRESENT, not 3/4 of the Senate.

Is there anything in our laws or in the Constitution itself that would prohibit the U.S. government from signing on to a treaty that would contravene our Constitution ?

Yes the media will manipulate that shooting to erode our 2nd amendment right to bear arms, and also to beat down and the Internet( our first amendment right to freedom of speech). So the media get to attack our basic rights and they also tried to get a 3 fer , by saying he was a tea party member when he wasn’t.

Unfortunately, it can. The Article VI Supremacy clause includes treaties as the "supreme law of the land."

Ooops, it’s 2/3 of the senators present, not 3/4. Sorry.

Obama could single-handedly nullify the 2nd Amendment

He has done so many other illegal and evil things, he will do this too. He will get away with it and will NEVER be held accountable. That may not be what we hope for, but that is the reality of it.

Obama currently ranks just about James Buchanan, as the second worst occupant of the White House in our country’s history, trailing because his divisiveness has not yet led to open civil war. If that petty socialist tyrant tries to disarm the American citizenry, he will leap to first place by a huge margin. I hope and pray that decent Americans will remove Obama from our White House through the Electoral College before the far left takes that next step.

Unfortunately, it can. The Article VI Supremacy clause includes treaties as the "supreme law of the land."

But only when "the federal government is acting in pursuit of its constitutionally authorized powers, "

Senate doesn't ratify the treaty, there is no constitutionally authorized powers...

One would hope. I can see Harry Reid delaying a ratification vote just to muddy up the waters for as long as possible.

It will truly be “The Shot Heard Around The World 2.0”

We'll see. 2012 patriots are not the same as 18th century patriots.

There will be a lot of griping online and in bars and such but guns in the street taking on gov't overlords? We'll see.

If the 2nd or any amendment can be annulled by the actions of one corrupt politician, it wasn’t worth much to start with. Bottom line, government doesn’ protect our rights WE DO!
