BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today applauds the decision by the United States to not sign the proposed International Arms Trade Treaty, and CCRKBA credits grassroots action for the gun rights victory.

CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, who is at the United Nations in New York, said the announcement came Friday morning after a week of intense negotiations.

“I think the grassroots surge by American gun owners against this treaty convinced our government to not sign this document,” Gottlieb said. “The proposed treaty, as written, poses serious problems for our gun rights, and the sovereignty of our Second Amendment.”

CCRKBA has been active in raising public awareness about the proposed treaty, and Gottlieb said he is proud of members and supporters who made “stepped up to the plate” and contacted their U.S. senators.

“This is freedom in action,” Gottlieb stated. “We are gratified that so many did so much to protect their Second Amendment rights from an international gun rights grab.

I am glad Mr.Gottlieb got involved to make the totaltarian wannabes of the US government back off our constitutional rights.

I don’t feel gratified that they stopped their nasty selves before the election because I know the wolves who hate freedom never rest and the UN is their den. They will keep coming after our freedom and independence in every way they can.

I can't stress this enough. - Don't forget, this timetable was set in 2010!

Democrats were so sure that they would win the mid term elections that they purposely set the vote for this exact time of year!

Nancy Pelousy was soooo sure too. LoL.

Democrats were so sure that they would win the mid term elections that they purposely set the vote for this exact time of year! They expected and planned to sign this treaty and quickly shove it through Congress with no problems so they could tout it as an election boon.

It certainly would have rallied their base--too bad for them it rallied the larger opposition--US. They thought they'd have it set up--hundreds of innocent dead mexican citizens because of guns that came from the USA. Then, with a bloody domestic incident right before the vote...

OOOOPPPS! The reaction was other than planned. Even with the usual useful idiots out fanning the flames, Americans still protested gun control and went out and bought MORE guns. Lots more!

When it became evident that this would be deadly for re-election, the big players backed off, even pretending to protect our 2nd Amendment rights even as they tried to slip gun control through as an amendment to a cyber protection bill!

My big fear is that they'll find a way to slip this one through in the lame duck session. They will NEVER give up!

They can try.
DeMint Plans to Stall Arms Treaty December 15, 2010

“Senator DeMint has made it clear that he’s going to use every tool available to stop it from being rammed through during the lame-duck session,” said Wesley Denton, a spokesman for Mr. DeMint. “The Senate needs to have a full debate next Congress over the weaknesses of this treaty that could seriously limit America’s missile defenses that protect our nation and our allies.” That was in 2010.

They will NEVER give up!
Nope. I'm afraid only open warfare akin to the Civil War will ever put a stop to it. Sad, but true.
