Chick Fil-A - Erie PA Report
self | jimjohn

Posted on 08/01/2012 12:08:03 PM PDT by jimjohn

I couldn't get in. Packed at 2:15pm with cars backed out to the street. Other resturants in the immediate area (McD's, Tim Hortons, Taco Bell) were dead since lunch rush was over. Seems North Western Pennsylvanians (and a few New Yorkers - saw the plates in the parking lot) decided to Eat Mor Chikin today.

Officially: I estimate about 100 standing in line, 150 seated, and 30 cars at drive-thru when I was there.

Talked to an employee in the restroom while trying to get my camera ready for a few photos. Dude said it's been crazy all day, and they are expecting this all evening as well. Said at one point, traffic was stopped on Peach St due to the amount of traffic.

FYI: This Chick Fil-A is located just off I-90 at 7160 Peach St in Erie PA. Normally a busy intersection, even busier today.

What? Of course I didn't see any media there. But then again, do we really care?

As I looked at the throngs of people in line, I couldn't hold back the big smile on my face. When I gave everyone the thumbs up, they all smiled back.

This Ladies and Gentlemen, is what being a Real American feels like.

this is fantastic!

I am out of the US right now, but I tried to order online for my “home” CF...I was just going to see if I could donate $50 or pay for a meal for someone else or something...but I couldn’t get on. I suspect the website couldn’t handle it!

I think we should make this a week long event!!! Hoo rah!

St. Pete, Florida Chick-fil-A on Roosevelt was packed to the rafters. Doubled-around drive-thru line and packed inside. I thanked the drive-thru girl for their great service and for their leadership.

“Talked to an employee in the restroom while trying to get my camera ready for a few photos. Dude said it’s been crazy all day, and they are expecting this all evening as well. Said at one point, traffic was stopped on Peach St due to the amount of traffic.”

Breach of mens room protocol. Real men do not converse in the restroom. Get your thing done, keep to yourself, avoid eye contact, look only at the wall or the floor directly in front of you, and go outside to have a conversation.

Naples, FL, Chick-Fil-A was packed at 2PM. Took me 45 minutes to get through the drive thru. People were lined up outside trying to get in.

When I got to the window, I asked the guy if they were going to run out of food. He said, “I think we’re good. We were ready for this.”

I hope so. I’m going back for dinner.

Only in America could a protest be staged by consuming additional volumes of fast food!
AWESOME, keep it up!

I was going to have lunch at Chick Fil-A in La Habra, Calif. today, but the line of customers stretched down the street, and traffic was backed up on Imperial Highway.

Macedonia, Ohio. Had to give up! Drive-thru line was 1/4 mile long, on the street! That’s not counting those in line in the CFA parking lot! Long lines waiting to get inside!

I asked the guy if they were going to run out of food.

I've been trying to think through that issue, based on my restaurant experience and AF dining hall experience. Wed morning is when a lot of places get product in, usually enough for 3-5 days. But CFA is closed Sundays, so they may either get product on Mondays or Fridays.

Bottom line is that they should be good, since they had a head's up that today was their day, and they can always hot-shot product out to the restaurant if required.

Today is a day that I'm very, very glad I'm not working in their kitchen. Those guys will be in the weeds until they close.

Where are the photos?
That is what we need to send to the media.

“Talked to an employee in the restroom while trying to get my camera ready for a few photos.”

It would be wise to rephrase that.

Love it! Erie’s my hometown. We don’t have Chik Fil A here, but had KFC for lunch in solidarity. Freedom to run a business, freedom of speech, freedom of association, and while we’re at it, don’t tread on me.

Dem city or not, I’m glad to see the spirit of freedom alive in Erie, and hope it translates in the polls in Nov.

Same thing in Wilmington, NC. Went there for lunch and the place was packed. The parking lot next door at another restaurant that was closed was filled to capacity. I never did get my lunch.
