So the pig says to the bears, "I don't know about you, but I'm really getting the munchies."

A quibble:

It doesn't take much to look at a post and see who originated it. While the link you provide is laudable, the incomparable and, in my summation, American Poet Laureate, Gerard Van der Leun posted this originally at his stellar, must-read website, American Digest.

From the comments section of same:

“Or maybe they were working on a new kind of edible marijuana.

Step 1- feed pot to pig.
Step 2- Imagine getting stoned on bacon.”

LOL!

I agree with your admiration of Gerard vander Leun. I linked to his site in several of my posts today because he not only writes a great essay, but he provides links and posts videos and pictures from other sites. It's what bloggers do.

The reason I linked to my blog initially is because I link to a lot of people who are great such as Gerard and Richard Fernandez at Belmont Club. I blog for my own small audience and if I think there is something that Freepers may enjoy, I come here and post it. If you don't think what I post is worthwhile you should skip mine because I usually link to my blog. That's why I post under "bloggers and personal."

By the way, I did a little sleuthing and found out that this video was posted on YouTube on May 13, 2011, so much as I admire Gerard, he got it from someone else.

For some reason, a few people who visit this site have a problem with bloggers, despite the fact that Free Republic has a “bloggers and personal" section. As I explained to Joan Varga, I am a great admirer of Gerard Vander Leun and always give him credit with a link or a mention when I use any of his material. I linked to his site in several of my posts today because he not only writes a great essay, but he provides links and posts videos and pictures from other sites. It's what bloggers do.

If you don't think what I post is worthwhile you should skip mine because I usually link to my blog. That's why I post under "bloggers and personal." If you get your jollies by de-blogging you must be a very lonely person. But it doesn't bother me go go right ahead.

By the way, I did a little sleuthing and found out that this video was posted on YouTube on May 13, 2011, so much as I admire Gerard, he got it from someone else.

What FReepers object to is blog-pimping: posting only an excerpt of one's own blog post, or any blog post whose owner doesn't require excerpting, with the suspected intention of boosting that blog's hit count.

Let us not be at odds about it. I post things from my blog here, as well, and have no issue with bloggers. I get called on the little stuff from time to time myself.

I hope the word “quibble” does not conflate in your mind to, “quarrel” or “dislike.” Don’t mind me.

What's with the personal attack? When I deblogged the YouTube video I didn't hassle you.

Let me get this straight: as a blogger you've hijacked somebody else's YouTube content and now you're upset that someone has linked to a video that's not yours? That's not your video on YouTube so why should you care if I directly link to it?

If my reply came off as a personal attack, I apologize. I have been attacked by people on this site who seem to believe that bloggers have no place here when JimRob has created a special section for them. I believe that people who bring new (as in not previously posted) material here should be welcomed, including bloggers.

Let me get this straight: as a blogger you've hijacked somebody else's YouTube content and now you're upset that someone has linked to a video that's not yours? That's not your video on YouTube so why should you care if I directly link to it?

Let me get you straight. I blog about something I find interesting and bring it to the attention of FreeRepublic and link to my blog because that’s where I posted the information, and you complain? The fact that I didn’t create the video is immaterial. The site I got it from didn’t either and I didn’t bother to try to find out where it first appeared because I didn’t think anyone would care. But I got it from a great site maintained by Gerard vander Leun, and linked to him on my blog. So if I linked to vander Leun would you be accusing him of stealing material? He got it from someone else who got it from someone else because the original YouTube video has a 2011 date on it. He’s a blogger you know. How about the people who link to newspaper articles but comment on them, are they high jacking the newspapers?

What people like you are doing is driving people away from this site who have something to contribute. There were quite a few here who thought the video was very funny. You were the one who decided to make a big point about the fact that I didn’t create it. I find that the mark of someone who has too much time on his hands and is, frankly, obnoxious. I don’t want to create a flame war over a joke, so I will not comment further. Have a good day.

Who's driving anyone away? If you want to share the video with your fellow FReepers, then you can simply provide the link to YouTube directly as I did. I certainly didn't make a 'big deal' about it; I simply created a direct like to YouTube.

Or are you just trying to drive traffic to your blog?
