Boycott Theater Complexes Showing "The Campaign"
Town Hall ^ | August 07, 2012 | reasonmclucus

People should protest the showing of the movie "The Campaign" by staying away from the theater complexes that show it. Promos indicate the movie contains a totally unacceptable scene in which a man apparently hits a baby.

In the scene one man is shown starting to punch another man. The second man ducks resulting in the first man apparently hitting a baby in the face. The movie is being promoted as a comedy but there is no way an adult hitting a baby can be considered funny by any normal person. The movie doesn't show the punch actually hitting the baby. but the implication is that the baby was hit.

A man apparently hitting a baby isn't funny. When an adult hits a baby in the head sometimes the baby dies.

The standard comedy routine of a person being hit by mistake is for the person being hit to be a tough guy such as Sylvester Stallone. Having an adult hit a baby instead is sick, not funny. Only bullies hit those who are unable to protect themselves. Bullies are the ones most likely to be drawn to theaters to see an adult hit a baby.

The best way to protest this objectionable film would be to boycott the entire theater complex that is showing the movie rather than just boycotting the movie. Boycotting all movies at the complex will provide a greater incentive for the owner to replace the offensive film with another. If people only boycott the offensive film the owner only faces a loss on that film. If all films are boycotted he can't make up the loss with the other films.

At mall theaters, boycotters should consider staying away from the mall while the film is being shown.

Child abuse is a major national problem. The news media regularly carry stories about babies who have been beaten or shaken to death. Movie makers should not try to make the subject seem less serious by presenting child abuse as something to laugh at.

No, funnyman Adam Sandler is more unfunnier than funny man Will Ferrell.

Wow I don’t even think this movie looks good but this boycott idea is so pathetically stupid I almost have to go to show my lack of support for the boycott. Just because a guy punches a baby in a movie doesn’t mean the movie is pro-punching babies. It’s pretty obvious in just the trailers that the character is a jerk, and this baby punch is the big opportunity to finally unseat him. Then lets not even get into the silliness of boycotting all the malls that have theaters, that’s just being retarded... almost as retarded as somebody punching a baby.

it was one of the most horrifying scenes that I have ever seen

Many who were familiar with the movie tried to make that argument but she would not be swayed.

At the risk of proving myself a despicable human being, by the end of the movie I felt sympathy for the sociopath as he took a horrific beating from his former mates.

I enjoyed it. Shows an exaggerated, but somewhat realistic idea of campaigns and how ugly it can get. Definitely recommend it for DVD when it comes out.

I must have missed that part. It was crude, yes, but it was rated R. It had sleezy scenes, but ‘rape’? Are you sure you were watching The Campaign?

The hit was an accident! He was aiming for his rival. No one thought hitting a baby was funny. They thought ‘OMG. Thats awful He just did an awful thing.

This was about how far they will go for votes/points/polls. Both of them were running to kiss the baby for a photo op and They started shoving each other to be first. Finally, Will went to slug the other guy, but ended up hitting the baby by accident.

My wife and I just returned from the movie. I thought it was great. My only problem with the language. I understand some language is warranted sometimes but I thought it was a bit over the top. The movie itself was really good and what a great ending.

Glad the two of you enjoyed your night out at the movies. I definitely laughed, but the language was a bit much, especially during the accidental answering machine message. I kept thinking about the democrats commercials these days and how over the top they are...like the one with West and hitting the woman or the elderly woman in a wheel chair. It shows they are truly running a Will F campaign.

Yeah...he is over rated. All his movies are the same. Watch one and you can tell your friends you have seen them all.

I saw the movie. It is hilarious. It looks like it is a hit and making a lot of money. Luckily these idiots are being ignored.
