Chick-fil-A’s longstanding stance against gay marriage has raised the ire of pro-homosexual groups in recent days, but also sparked an appreciation day for the restaurant.
On appreciation day, August 1st, former University of Arizona adjunct professor Adam Smith decided that he would order a free water as an opportunity to confront this “hateful” company. “Smith confronted Rachel on ‘Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day,’ a show of support for the chain and its CEO, Dan Cathy, spearheaded by former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee,” according to Philip Caulfield with the New York Daily News. Smith then decided to videoblog the encounter.
As previously noted in my writings for Accuracy in Academia, it’s not a particularly good idea for individuals–especially professionals–to post their political behavior online.
In his video Smith orders a free water and tells Rachel, the drive thru attendant, that he’s doing so “because Chick-fil-A is a hateful corporation.”
“I don’t know how you live with yourself and work here,” he rants. “I don’t understand it. This is a horrible corporation with horrible values,” he continues. Smith insists in the video that Chick-fil-A gives money to “hate groups.” His original video was taken down from Youtube, but you can catch a glimpse of some of the interchange with Rachel in this Fox News broadcast. ...

You should hear the commencement address I had to sit through with my graduating class (I and many others ended up booing the @#$%^&*( douche-bag leftie) They sold copies of the speech on VHS and DVD so I'm sure that's floating around somewhere too.

The dehumanization is a part of what allows them to see human beings as "collateral damage," something of no real value that is destroyed "for the greater good." Something to be "liquidated." Would this guy have an apology video had he not been fired the next day? Of course not! He would be out spiking the ball over his damage to the image of CFA.
