Nugent Bets Bill O’Reilly $10,000 He Can NOT Buy a Machine Gun in 30 Days
Ammoland ^ | 10 August, 2012 | NA

Posted on 08/11/2012 7:23:09 AM PDT by marktwain

Louisiana --(Ammoland.com)- When it comes to guns, there is plenty of spin in Bill O’Reilly’s “No Spin Zone.” The zone has been infected with a bad case of yellow journalism.

Mr. O’Reilly is either woefully ignorant of the most basic of firearm laws, nomenclature, rules and requirements, or he has a clear anti-gun agenda and is a willing puppet for those who want to end the Second Amendment.

Mr. O’Reilly recently stated on his TV program, “The O’Reilly Factor,” that anyone in America can go out and buy a machine gun or bazooka without any reporting requirements at all.

Are you kidding me?

Nothing, of course, could be further from the truth. While owning machine guns is legal, it has been intensely restricted since 1934. There is a labyrinth of federal, state and local requirements one must comply with in order to own a fully automatic weapon, short-barreled rifle or sound suppressor.

I sent Bill a note and challenged him that I would donate $10,000 to the charity of his choice if anyone on his staff can go out and legally buy a machine gun or bazooka in the next 30 days without the federal government knowing about it. No word back yet from the “No Spin Zone” guy.

There are roughly 250,000 legally owned machine guns in America — half are owned by private citizens and the other half are owned by police departments. Since 1934, there have only been two homicides committed with legally owned machine guns. Leave it to the MotorCity Madman to give you the real “no-spin” truth regarding firepower in America.

Mr. No Spin Zone must surely be spinning now that the facts have revealed his ignorance or his intentional anti-gun spin. It makes a guy wonder what other information he has been spinning instead of telling his viewers the bold, honest truth.

Similar to the slew of left-wing anti-gun ideologues, Mr. O’Reilly is guilty as sin as it pertains to telling his viewers the truth about guns.

The truth it seems, however interesting, is apparently irrelevant to the media, including Mr. O’Reilly.

I’ve watched countless media windbags over the last 40 years either play fast and loose with the facts or overtly lie about guns to push an anti-gun agenda. That’s why all of the gun owners I know don’t trust the media when it comes to accurate information about guns.

The real truth about guns and crimes is simple to learn, which is why Mr. O’Reilly’s statements have more in common with his previous entertainment television gig “Inside Edition” than his vaunted “The O’Reilly Factor” on Fox.

Because of his woefully ignorant statements or his anti-gun beliefs, I’ll be much more suspicious of anything Mr. O’Reilly says.

Americans are owed the truth by our media. They are supposed to be the fourth arm of society, the watchdogs of our government. When we can’t trust the media (and there are ample reasons to not trust them), then it is even more incumbent upon us to dig deep and learn the truth about any number of issues.

Let’s see just how big a man Mr. O’Reilly is and whether he tells his viewers that he and his crack staff of researchers got it all wrong, as wrong as wrong can be. Let’s see how he tries to spin himself and his staff out of this balderdash.

Mr. O’Reilly has been caught red-handed in a web of ignorance or falsehood. Until he comes clean, I suggest watching his program with a jaundiced eye. I’m sure even Mr. O’Reilly knows that once his credibility with his audience is gone, the gig is up.

Ted Nugent is an American rock ‘n’ roll, sporting and political activist icon. He is the author of “Ted, White, and Blue: The Nugent Manifesto” and “God, Guns & Rock ‘N’ Roll” (Regnery Publishing).

There have been two murders committed with legal machine guns since it was made illegal to own them without government permission in 1932. There is no class of firearms that have been shown to be safer to the public. Yet in 1986, the anti-freedom forces made it illegal to manufacture or import any more machine gun for citizens of the U.S.

This is what those who would appease the anti-freedom forces need to remember: It does not matter how safe or how law abiding you are. They want you disarmed. It has never been about crime or safety. It has always been about control.

Correct but next the anti-selfdefense cult will tell us that registration works. Everyone of those guns is well traceable.

Check into who committed those murders with the machine guns. You’ll find that at least one of them was a cop.

The anti gun crowd, especially the anti “assault” weapon crowd always comes up the notion that it should be unlawful for anyone but the military to have such weapons. They obviously either are ignorant or don’t care to know that the 2nd amendment, following right behind the first, underpins the first’s guarantee of freedom from government interference speech, religion and assembly. Now why is that so? Simple, because the colonists in 1775 were almost equally armed as were the British soldiers when it came to small arms. Furthermore, the original government did not want a standing army to defend the country, forget maintaining safety at home, the role of the military was to defend the country from foreign attack, not some thief. While it sounds hokey, the simple fact is, the right to keep arms is there to keep the government and its military under control. It is the only thing between the populace here and tyranny IMO albeit it keeps getting eroded.

Some clown here recently wrote in a letter to editor and his question was “why does one need an assault weapon to hunt game with” The answer is, it is not just to hunt game but to enable you the future right to have published just such an assinine question.

This O’Reilly tool fool makes me UNproud to have to bear an O’C in my surname.

I really should be kicking myself in the arse because, back around the ‘turn of the century’ (haven’t you always wanted to be able to say that?) I petitioned my local cable Company RCN (I believe - Erols) in Northern VA to pick up the Fox News Channel. When it finally came around, when going to a public place and those had had cable inevitably would have CNN on - but that was like going to a lunch counter and saying I will have a Coke - the brainwashing etc - I would loudly proclaim “What is that garbage doing on, try Fox” and I was able to get a few converts...Usually the bartender(ess) would just shrug and say ‘Who Cares’?

Getting back to the ‘Turn of the Century’ when Rush was the ‘firebrand’ Rush that we grew up with, there was Paul Weyrich - who was definitely ahead of his time - Armstrong Williams who really got in the Libs heads, he wasn’t only Black, he was a Strom Thurmond protege`, AND he fought back. Tom Fitton who heads Judicial Watch always came across to me as kind of wishy washy but.....

Anyway IMNSHO, Fox News started its downhill slide with the hiring of Jerry Rivers (Geraldo Rivera for you folk in Rio Linda)even though O’Reilly and Hannity (Colmes) were stalwarts, I was never too enthralled with either of the 3 - at least Colmes was completely honest - if not a complete idiot), and I guess even ‘plankowners’ of Fox Prime Time.

Well, go into a public area today and the only plus for Fox News being on are it is NOT CNN or even worse MSNBC (that is the only time I have EVER watched MSNBC is when it was on and on one occasion after requesting a channel change, was told EVERYBODY in the place watched MSNBC, I decided it was not a place I wanted to be hanging out. - Of course this was after I quit drinking, while drinking I would gladly have taken the challenge etc...)

Not as easy as you might think. Since about 1980 semi-autos have been designed to make it difficult to convert them.

TWO Fed. licenses required to manufacture or deal in NFA items.
Additional STATE licenses may also be required.
Unless he gets the “famous personality” special treatment, he would need more than thirty days to get the FIRST license, another 30-90 for the second.

Even then he would not be able to complete a legal transaction in thirty days.
F3 (dealer to dealer) transactions are taking 45 - 120 days, F4’s (Individual to another individual or dealer) are taking AT LEAST four months to nearly a YEAR!

The faster way would be to become an O7 SOT holder and build a legal post-86 Dealer Sample gun.
With special consideration from the anti’s at ATF he MIGHT get licensed, and a gun built and registered in two months.
Of course that still was not the bet, the bet is to legally BUY one in under thirty days.
And post-86 guns cannot be sold to the general public, so the resulting gun still would not meet the requirement to be a gun that could be purchased.

Using his position to take advantage of the Hollywood expedited transfer process would be cheating, it’s not available to the general public.
He is also NOT an LE agency, so no expedited transfer from that angle either.
Most LE guns are also not from the same pool the public has to buy from.

Ted could have made it a million dollars, or trillion, his money is perfectly safe without special chicanery being perpetrated by ATF.

If ATF did do a transfer that fast, the howls to congress from citizens still waiting several months for THEIR transfer would really shake up ATF-NFA.
I could almost wish Ted would lose the bet, just for the resultant shake-up at ATF-NFA branch!

“Yet in 1986, the anti-freedom forces made it illegal to manufacture or import any more machine gun for citizens of the U.S”.

Just a couple of relevant points. Unfortunately for us regular citizens, the restrictions DO NOT apply to the military or law enforcement agencies.

If I understand the rules, citizens of this country now are restricted from owning any “new” machine gun manufactured after 1986. Anyone with a knowledge of the limited number of available guns will know that the prices are going through the roof.

Not only is the supply limited, and the price now prohibitive, but every day that goes by the citizenry of this country are losing ground to those who will ultimately be able to fully enslave the nation through the barrel of the gun.

Of course there are some issues financial that might take some precedence over repeal of the NFA, but when those are solved, the NFA needs to go.

Do a sting operation on BOR so you set him up to buy a Class III gun to prove his point. When he shows up with the cash, bust him for purchase of a machine gun in violation of the 1934 NFA. Send BOR to the federal pokey for 10 years and a huge fine. While he's in Club Fed, BOR can report about life in prison. Best part is BOR comes out a felon and can't vote or own a gun.
