After Mitt Romney officially named Paul Ryan as his presidential running mate today (Aug. 11), celebrities were quick to respond in the Twittersphere.
From Russell Simmons' outrage to Rupert Murdoch's unconditional support and Seth MacFarlane's characteristic irreverence, here are some of the stars' top tweets...
Elizabeth Banks: "I can confirm categorically that I am NOT Mitt Romney's VP nominee. #gamechange."
Michael Ian Black: "Romney/Ryan = same initials as Ronald Reagan. THINK ABOUT IT!!!"
Andy Cohen: I really hope someone has the guts to ask Paul Ryan's stance on the KStew/RPatz situation in California. #NeedClarification
Sanjay Gupta: #43 on the list of things that make you feel old: the VP candidate is younger than you are. paul ryan was born in 1970.
Jared Leto: "Today Mitt Romney picked Paul Ryan, who wants to cut Pell Grant scholarships for nearly 10 million students!"
Michael McKean: Ryan says Ayn Rand was his inspiration to enter public service, which is a little like Ray Kroc inspiring a career in nutrition.
Eva Longoria: "Romney's VP pick voted against equal pay for women and repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. We can't go backward."
Seth MacFarlane (with a picture of the Thunderbirds): The selection of Paul Ryan makes me wonder what the Romney cabinet will look like.
Michael Moore: "Channeling Bush, war supporters/military dodgers Romney and Ryan insult those who served by using battleship as their prop."
John Mulaney: Does this mean Paul Ryan won't return to "Royal Pains" next season?
Rupert Murdoch: "Thank God! Now we might have a real election on the great issues of the day. Paul Ryan almost perfect choice."
Patton Oswalt: F***! F***! Goddamit. This is bulls***. I sent that Hickory Farms gift basket for NOTHING. (Sigh). Whatever. Congrats, Paul Ryan
Kal Penn: "This is awful. I was hoping it would be Jindal so I could play him in a HBO movie"
Andy Richter: "I think saying "worst recovery in 70 years" is kinda cute. Doesn't at all beg the phrase "worst recession in 70 years."
Russell Simmons: "Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, two men who will destroy our people..."
Olivia Wilde: "Two R's won't make it right. Romney/Ryan are Wrong for America."
Today’s celebrities are basically the scum of the earth.
Of course not all of them are but it has gotten to the point where one should assume any celebrity is. The onus should be on them to prove they are not.
I’m proud to say I don’t know who most of these celebrities are and I really don’t give a da** what they think.
“Idiots say something stupid”
News at 11.
I love Michael Moore’s idiotic tweet. When did Barack Obama and Joe Biden serve, Mike? We’re still in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Kosovo and other places. Explain.
Funnily enough, a lot of freepers gone Ayatollah seem too feel the same way.
But, can Ryan spell Potato(e)? That is the most important issue!
I believe if I ever met Michael Moore and for that matter Seth McFarland, it would take some self control to keep from beating the snot out of them.
celebs react and nobody cares. They like in a fake world it’s an all me or nothing state of mind.
Well, I have to agree with that sentiment. The current president is just a few years older than I am. Now the next VP will be younger than I am... How did I get old so quickly?
Celebrities worried their celebrity in the WH will lose to someone actually competent?
Who is Russell Simmons?
Most celebrities have only high school level educations...and it shows.
The question IS who keeps these Neanderthals in business.... Sure is NOT liberals alone. Every nickle and dime the beauty of the beast Hollywood rakes in goes to some liberals campaign.
I now know this is the most devastating ticket we could have against the Left, because BOTH the MSM and the Celeberatti are terrified!!!!
SHUT UP & SING!
Their black president is doing that right now.
Funny, isn’t it? These so called “enlightened”, whom are all for gun control and “against violence” make movie after movie....with COMPLETE violence, gore and all.
McFarland will take a shot at just about anyone...left, right, Hollywood....Michael Moore is a different tub of lard. Might have to tip that cow if I saw it.
In related news: The sun rose in the East this morning.
They ain’t that famous cause I haven’t heard of 3/4’s of them before this post.
Ashton Kutcher is the brightest Hollyweird type that comes to mind. ‘Nuff said.
There was one good one:
Rupert Murdoch: “Thank God! Now we might have a real election on the great issues of the day. Paul Ryan almost perfect choice.”
He’s a Hip-Hop music and fashion mogul, I believe. IIRC, he’s a huge fundraising bundler for Mr. Obama.
I never heard of most of these so-called “celebrities,” either. Their opinions don’t mean squat.
The only thing Eva Longoria has going for her is nice T & A.
The thing which makes me despise McFarland so much is he doesn’t use irony etc., he just simply has his characters attack someone. The show is sometimes entertaining but I have noticed it is almost never funny.
I don’t even like it when he attacks liberals tho that is in fact very seldom. There is nothing funny or even clever about simply lying about someone.
I used to watch it because like I said, it can be entertaining but now just skip that channel.
Geez did someone ask Russell Simmons if anyone could do better at the job “his people” are already doing destroying themselves? He must have spent the past few years on another planet to miss the wholesale self destruction ...
Do you really think a billionaire like Mr. Simmons gives two hoots in hell about the people in the ghetto, other than them buying his products?
Two words: Heavy Flow.
If only.
And they say this like it's a bad thing.
I don’t go to many movies or watch TV much anymore.
I’ve become crotchety. I remember wondering how people got to be that way.
Just a joke. You can read it however you want. Michael Ian Black has done Red Eye, so he's not the hardest core lefty.
Especially when they are purchasing his Rush Card, which makes loan sharks and same day loan operations look like benevolent philanthropists.
May all of them, especially big, fat Michael Moore and Eva Longoriilla, go screaming, terrified, into hell.
I guarded her and her then husband once, in San Antonio, as they introduced a line of products to invited millionaires and other VIPs at a home & garden store. Good thing it wasn’t raining or they’d have drowned from having their noses stuck up so far in the air.
Show some pity for these small minded people. :)
You're not the only one. I recognized 3 names on that list.
We here don’t recognize 14 of the 16 names (and wish we had never heard of one of the other 2).
So,
who gives a rat’s ass dam* what these so-called “celebrities” think? Unknown Celebrities... ha ha... Oxymoronic Morons.... ha ha.
The problem is, tho, why the media insists on telling us all what these idiots think? Does attending some acting school (or does shooting good baskets) guarantee SUPERIOR POLITICAL WISDOM all of a sudden? Give me a break!
Who do these people think is going to have any money to buy their bilge once the middle class has been destroyed by their idol? They’re going to have to get used to a new lifestyle as Nerobama’s personal muses. I suppose some enterprising entrepreneur could design court jester attire for them but wouldn’t be able to manufacture it because of all the regulations.
There are only about 2 names in that entire list that I even recognize.
Oh, and Twitter can shove itself up Michael Moore’s a$$.
What celebrities? I haven’t heard of over half of them.
Knee jerk reactions from liberal jerks. 5 will get you 10 that most or all of these celebrities never even heard of Ryan the day before his nomination was announced. As a result, have absolutely no idea of his record and background. All of them would have reacted this same way no matter who romney chose as his running mate.
I’m waiting for Matt Damon’s comments
Wait for it....wait for it....

yeah I read that too.
Who the hell discusses that in a public forum. $$$ does not buy class.
Russell Simmons did not build that.
Time he paid his fair share of taxes and gives back to “his people”.
Why won’t he pay his fair share? Does he hate black people?
Russell Simmons is a no talent big mouth. He made millions in the fetid and festering sewer of Rap and Hip Hop. He is a obvious racist, “OUR people”! He obviously hates whites. What a Turd!
Russell, they’re not “Your” people.
I always wonder how people who can be so rich, also be so stupid
And, Russell Simmons, you Black Racist....you done more harm to your people by pushing rap/hip hop/ghetto gang banger nonsense music
