I’m no great fan of Thomas Jefferson, but his memory and his library deserve better than being props for Zero’s pro-Sharia campaign.
BFD . . . I have a copy of the Book of Mormon on my bookshelf. Means nothing more than my curiousity. Sure doesn’t make me a mormon. What in the hell is this hammera$$ talking about?
No, an ambassadorial gift is not part of the “national story”.
JEFFERSON studied the Koran, b/c he wanted to understand why so many Muslims were troublesome and dangerous. Jefferson was an opponent of Islamic extremism! Bob
Jefferson got a Koran so he could see what he was up against.
When he figured it out, he sent ships to bombard the Muslim Pirate ships.
Sooner or later we are going to have to do it again.
I don’t see Islam as a treligion, I see it as a made-up theology to enable sexually frustrated men to beat up and torture women. And I don’t give one damn if that offends anyone!
This petty tyrant is narrowing the First Amendment to suit his agenda instead of allowing that ironclad guarantee to protect all of our our God-given rights. It's the free exercise of religion that is constitutionally protected, not just the right to worship, and the distinction is huge. Worship is what many of us do for 90 minutes on Sunday, and others do on Saturday or Friday. Exercising our religion is what we do or fail to do many times a day, seven days a week. The HHS abortion and birth control mandate does not violate any "right to worship as we choose", but it a flagrant violation of the free exercise clause: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
Thomas Jefferson only kept the Koran because toilet paper was in such short supply. (no sarc)
“As Ive noted before, Thomas Jefferson once held a sunset dinner here with an envoy from Tunisia — perhaps the first Iftar at the White House, more than 200 years ago.”
And an Iftar was not held at the White House again until a Revolutionary Maxist-Muslim Kenyan seized control of the White House in 2008.
0bama said, “freedom of religion, the right to worship as we choose”.. Unless you’re Catholic or Christian, then we force you to promote abortion contrary to your beliefs.
Jefferson got that koran because he knew that in order to defeat the enemy he ad no know his enemy, I'm sure this was not mentioned at the dinner just like when he went to Africa with his daughters and told them where th slaves were boarded but never told them it was other blacks who were making them slaves to the whites or that there were black slave owners too.
Poor prezzi. I guess his history classes at the “finest” U. S. educational institutions failed to recognize that this was Jefferson’s opposition research.
So, 0bama can’t even sit down and eat, without creating a falsehood first. It must be like airfreshner to him, fill the air full of B/S first.
Jefferson knew how important it was to understand his enemy and what better way to do that than to study his ideology.
He left out the bit about how we sent down our little 11 ship Navy to rout the Muslim pirates in Libya.
It’s where we get the ‘shores of Tripoli’ bit in the Marine Anthem.
Did he have any decorations near it with pictures of cross dressers on them, like he had on his Christmas tree?
That's why the far left fringe is narrowing the First Amendment to mere "worship" rather than the free exercise of our religion, in the hope that they can get away with trampling our God-given rights if they give lip service to 90 minutes of prayer on Sunday morning.
to add, you are also frced to accept homosexuals, their fecal diseased sex agenda, contraception, etc.
“Thomas Jefferson only kept the Koran because toilet paper was in such short supply. (no sarc)”
I notice Flap Ears didn’t mention the missing 132 pages.
either obama is totally ignorant to history,
he was told a very different history to what is real
he has no frigging clue aout history and makes it up as he goes along.
What ever he is he gets away with it becauss of the corrupt media and the cowardly GOP.
I think conservatives should read Mein Kampf as a means of recognizing the gave danger we face from progressives.
Mein Kampf is like a progressive old testament book.
Another sign that Barry doesn’t really know US History...I seriously doubt Jefferson had one ounce of respect for those he called ‘Barbary Pirates’.
That’s probably not the story ‘Bammy related.
Well they did this same nonsense whenever the first Muslim was sworn into the house... made this whole big deal about Thomas Jefferson’s Koran.. but the never pointed out the only reason he had it was because he was researching the Muslims as part of the War the US had declared on the Barbary Pirates furing his Presidency.
Who were basically Muslim Terrorists of their day attacking ships off the Barbary Coast of Africa.
Jefferson did not own that book out of respect or admiration for Islam.
The Barbary Pirates and all that. Stephen Decatur. When I was in elementary school, we had a whole set of "American Biography for Young Readers," or something like that, in the school library, and Stephen Decatur was one of them. Who learns about that now? (They cleaned up the part where he died in a duel over his involvement with another officer's wife ;-).
And the foundation of Islam is submission to Islam only on pain of death. Our president just made a fool of himself, again, being the great pretender.
Why doesn’t idiot Obama know this:
‘... the American government paid the Muslims millions of dollars for the safe passage of American ships or the return of American hostages. The payments in ransom and tribute amounted to 20 percent of United States government annual revenues in 1800.
Not long after Jefferson’s inauguration as president in 1801, he dispatched a group of frigates to defend American interests in the Mediterranean, and informed Congress.
Declaring that America was going to spend “millions for defense but not one cent for tribute,” Jefferson pressed the issue by deploying American Marines and many of America’s best warships to the Muslim Barbary Coast.
The USS Constitution, USS Constellation, USS Philadelphia, USS Chesapeake, USS Argus, USS Syren and USS Intrepid all saw action.
In 1805, American Marines marched across the desert from Egypt into Tripolitania, forcing the surrender of Tripoli and the freeing of all American slaves.
During the Jefferson administration, the Muslim Barbary States, crumbling as a result of intense American naval bombardment and on shore raids by Marines, finally officially agreed to abandon slavery and piracy.
Jefferson’s victory over the Muslims lives on today in the Marine Hymn, with the line, “From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli, We fight our country’s battles in the air, on land and sea.”
It wasn’t until 1815 that the problem was fully settled by the total defeat of all the Muslim slave trading pirates.
Jefferson had been right. The “medium of war” was the only way to put and end to the Muslim problem. Mr. Ellison was right about Jefferson. He was a “visionary” wise enough to read and learn about the enemy from their own Muslim book of jihad.’
Darn I hate pictures like that....so very sad.
here’s why Jefferson had the book of Jihad (Koran): http://www.usvetdsp.com/jan07/jeff_quran.htm
Ramadan will be over this Saturday evening. Good!
If I recall correctly...Thomas Jefferson kept the Koran SPECIFICALLY as a reminder to “know your enemy” - Even then he recognized Islam for what it is- evil
Odumbass celebrates Ramadan every year fathfully, but fails to recognize Christmas and Easter (or ANY Jewish Holiday, that I can recall)
As in the Barbary Wars, the 1st of which was launch by Jefferson against the murdering, kidnapping and stealing Muslim terrorists of North Africa.
As in the leather collars that became part of the Marine uniform to deal with Muslim throat slashing - and is often cited as the origins of the nickname "leathernecks."
Yes, from its birth America made it its business to understand Islam. And President Jefferson's understanding of it could not have been far different from that of President John Quincy Adams, who wrote of "Mahomet" and the faith he established:
"THE ESSENCE OF HIS DOCTRINE WAS VIOLENCE AND LUST: TO EXALT THE BRUTAL OVER THE SPIRITUAL PART OF HUMAN NATURE."
"...the command to propagate the Moslem creed by the sword is always obligatory, when it can be made effective. The commands of the prophet may be performed alike, by fraud, or by force."
FUBO has an unhealthy admiration for the rantings of 7th century pig fornicator. I wonder why?
Being polite to a diplomatic guest by postponing dinner by a couple of hours is not the same as honoring their religion.
Those poor, poor, “brides”.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
Agreed ... it looks like zero is using the book out of context. It would be nice to ask the question about the barbary pirates.
“Another sign that Barry doesnt really know US History...”
Barry knows his American history alright and he also knows it’s weaknesses.
That’s why it is so easy for him to destroy the country.
Zero is such a poor excuse for ... everything. He’s even a poor excuse for a Marxist. Stalin would have grilled him and eaten him.
And Obama totoally missed the WHY of why jefferson had them printed...
As to the invocation of Jefferson, we know that when he and James Madison first proposed the Virginia Statute on Religious Freedom (the frame and basis of the later First Amendment to the Constitution) in 1779, the preamble began, “Well aware that Almighty God hath created the mind free.” Patrick Henry and other devout Christians attempted to substitute the words “Jesus Christ” for “Almighty God” in this opening passage and were overwhelmingly voted down. This vote was interpreted by Jefferson to mean that Virginia's representatives wanted the law “to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mahomedan, the Hindoo, and Infidel of every denomination.” Quite right, too, and so far so good, even if the term Mahomedan would not be used today, and even if Jefferson's own private sympathies were with the last named in that list.
The fledgling United States of America was in an especially difficult position, having forfeited the protection of the British Royal Navy. Under this pressure, Congress gave assent to the Treaty of Tripoli, negotiated by Jefferson's friend Joel Barlow, which stated roundly that “the government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion, as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen.” This has often been taken as a secular affirmation, which it probably was, but the difficulty for secularists is that it also attempted to buy off the Muslim pirates by the payment of tribute. That this might not be so easy was discovered by Jefferson and John Adams when they went to call on Tripoli's envoy to London, Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman. They asked him by what right he extorted money and took slaves in this way. As Jefferson later reported to Secretary of State John Jay, and to the Congress:
The ambassador answered us that [the right] was founded on the Laws of the Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have answered their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Mussulman who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise.
Ever seen any videos of these women being stoned or whipped by a mob of men or after they have had acid thrown at them? Ever read about forced genital mutilation?
So if he doesn’t know his American history, what did he study?
Where did he study it? What was his nationality when he studied?
And what kind of grades did he get after he studied?
Does anyone realize that Obama is a bit of a hypocrite about citing Thomas Jefferson on anything? Jefferson was for the castration of men engaged in sodomy.
“Whosoever shall be guilty of rape, polygamy, or sodomy with a man or woman, shall be punished; if a man, by castration, a woman, by boring through the cartilage of her nose a hole of one half inch in diameter at the least.” (Virginia Bill number 64; authored by Jefferson; 18 June 1779)(Emphasis added.)
Don’t ask me.
Ask our congresscritters to find out for you. I bet, they will be more than glad to confront Obama with your questions.
Ever hear about sarcasm?
