Posted on 08/13/2012 1:37:37 PM PDT by John Semmens
A few potential voters were turned away from Michigan polling places this last week when they refused to answer the citizenship question that the state requires they answer before handing them a ballot
One of the turned away voters professed himself confused. They tell us it is okay to vote, but at the poll they say we have to be citizens, he said. I come to America for opportunity. Now I am denied opportunity to vote. I do not understand your system of government.
Jocelyn Benson, former Democratic candidate for secretary of state and now Director of the Michigan Center for Election Law chastised the Secretary of States office for what she said was an attempt to discourage people from voting. The fear that non-citizens are illegally attempting to vote is unwarranted. The Republicans are just trying to erect as many barriers as they can in the belief that suppressing turn out will favor them. This is not what America is all about. We invite the wretched refuse to come to our country. Why should we get upset if they want to participate in our freedom?
if you missed any of this week's other semi-news posts you can find them at...
Look Mac. Whoever told you it’s OK to vote must have been a member of the OBAMA REGIME, anybody under their system can vote. Dogs, cats, illegals, dead people. In fact if you ask WITHHOLDER, it is discrimination if you don’t let your dead cat vote.
Be careful out there. A Federal Judge decided that using a library card was good enough here in Memphis and delayed publishing the ruling until after the primary. That way they (the local Dim machine) could drag out one “intimidated” Black voter to challenge the state law on voter ID. They have filed the lawsuit now for the November election.
“I do not understand your system of government.
I don’t either and I have lived here for over 50 years.
I guess in his country there is only one name on the ballot and they want as many people as possible to vote him - hence the lack of concern about non-citizens.
Yes, you understand perfectly. Just as in the country you came from, you must be a legal citizen in order to legally vote.

Which lie to dismantle first? Discouraging mere "people" from voting is the point; encouraging citizen people to vote is a corollary to this point. The fear that non-citizens are illegally attempting to vote is warranted and completely suspect once this "Democratic" pretender to the throne of public outrage starts whining.
Every now and then, I wish they would post where the facts end and the satire begins. The lines are becomming blurred.
For instance, did an illegal alien really complain about not being able to vote? Did a politician really defend the effort?
The funny thing is that the citizenship check box has been there all along. The only change since 2010 is the fact that the poll worker must point it out.
wow! I am so offended
Is this anything like, after yiu swipe your card, the machine asks, "Is $23.56 OK?"
Or do you mean, like ... Am I now or ever WILL be ?
It took me a full 10 minutes to get up off the floor, laughing, to respond to this bit of stupidity.
