On 9 Aug 2012, the Department of Commerce, for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration by way of the National Weather Service, put out a solicitation for a small variety of ammunition.
The solicitation breaks down the requirements:
16,000 rounds of ammunition for semiautomatic pistols to be factory-loaded .40 S&W caliber, 180-grain jacketed hollow point (JHP). 6,000 rounds of frangible, 125-grain CFRHT .40 caliber. 24,000 rounds of ammunition for semiautomatic pistols to be factory-loaded .40 S&W caliber, 180-grain jacketed hollow point (JHP).
In all, 40,000 rounds of ammunition, and only 500 Transtar II blue 24″ x 40″ targets are being ordered.
All the ammunition and targets are being spread out over the US to three locations, Ellsworth ME, New Bedford MA, Wall NJ, and St. Petersburg, FL. Only the 24,000 rounds are being sent to Florida, no targets will be shipped there.
This all comes after the Department of Homeland Security requested a contract with manufactures for over 63,000,000 rounds rounds over the next 4 years.
And this raises other questions?
Could not the US Government simply re-allot the ammunition from DHS to DOC? What is it about being a weather person requires the training and use of a firearm? What future event is coming that makes the National Weather Service believes it needs to train and arm its employees?
We will report more about this as developments come in. See the video below for the 63 million rounds being requested.
What, are they expecting attacks on the radar stations (some of our weather radar equipment dates back to the Eisenhower Era) by vacuum tube hungry amateur radio operators?
As a retired weather guesser, I can tell ya, sometimes a man has to defend hisseff.....
Thanks for the ping.
Isn't that ***4 locations***? Just wondering.
Thanks! I try...
whaaaaat???? seems like the slackers in the gubmint are stocking up....
Isn’t that ***4 locations***? Just wondering.
yes, it is four locations in the article. Thanks for pointing it out.
Looks like Obama’s plan is to try and hold the east coast.
Pistol ammo only?
Here’s the RFP (91 pages, 5 MB):
They’re looking for millions of rounds of 5.56, .308, 30-06 and 12GA; I’ve heard claims they’re also ordering .50 BMG, but I didn’t see that in the RFP.
Oh hell, just be bold and lay it (pun intended) out there.
She’s a carpet muncher.
Be Bold and Prosper!
Yeh, but only if no one shoots back. I would rather think at this time they’re gonna need more ammo!!
Ah. So this is what is meant by shooting stars. ;>
There’s a part of me that wants to laugh out loud that these insecure and insane communist/fascist pigs think their politically correct, stupid ‘troops’ of OWS/diversity gangsta supporters are going to take out the American people and the US.
It’s like watching a Simpson’s episode. Obama is African Muslim-of a different breed and mentality from his stupid followers. His blood runs cold, he hates the the people of this nation. He’s surrounded by central plotters and planners who think they can bring down the Americans as watch them line up like idiots to be sexually molested like cattle at the airports in fear of a distant, dangerous and strange terrorism; while they are the named terrorists.
However, his smash mouth psychopath followers are the stupidest people God ever put breath into and americans will put up with so much before they catch on. I can see them getting on Barack’s high horse and getting mowed down -house to house.
NEVER give up your arms to these pigs.
I can only hope this is the case. Then, when we get a president who thinks it is dumb for these agencies to have a bunch of stockpiled ammo. Well, can you say...
Cheap surplus ammo! Woohoooooo!
NOAA? If you’re hurricane hunting with .40 caliber ammo, you’re doing it wrong.
He and they got a surprise coming if they try. Those areas and us inland states aren’t as ‘blue’ as he thinks. Just the unarmed, free-fire zone, metro areas. Wolverines!
