Obamacare Doubles Premiums for Many Americans
ATR ^ | 2012-08-10 | Justin Sykes

In a recent campaign speech in Cincinnati Ohio President Obama claimed "premiums will go down."

However, studies on the effects of Obamacare evidence premiums will not go down but will increase for "a material portion of the population." Specifically the young and healthy will be burdened by exponential increases in their premiums as a result of Obamacare.

An article published by the Washington Post today compiled numerous studies from around the country, all of which indicated that Obamacare will lead to sharp premium increases for young and healthy Americans.

President Obama's campaign promise that "premiums will go down" finds no factual support. If legislative action is not taken to repeal Obamacare:

Nationwide Study - Premiums in the individual market would increase from 8 to 37 percent in 2014 - with a cumulative increase of as much as 122 percent between 2013 and 2017.

Ohio - A healthy young man would experience a rate increase of 90 to 130 percent.

Indiana - The law would boost premiums in the individual market on average by 75 to 95 percent and in the small employer market by 5-10 percent in 2014.

Ohio - Rates would go up 55 to 85 percent above current rates.

Minnesota - Individual market premiums will increase between 26 to 42 percent.

Maine - Individual premiums will increase on average by 40 percent and premiums in the small group market are likely to increase 8 to 9 percent...20 percent of the individual market would still experience premium increases even after subsidies.

Maryland - Individual premiums will go up on average by 34 to 36 percent.

Wisconsin - Before tax credits, the average premium increases in the individual market will be 30 percent.

Colorado - Individual premiums will go up on average 19 percent.

Rhode Island - Before tax subsidies, premiums for individuals will increase on average by 8 percent.

My premiums were already going up before dear leader’s enabling act was deemed constitutional. I have little doubt this trend will continue and probably get worse.

My mom is 89 and starting Jan. 2012-her prescription costs fully DOUBLED.

Also, her cost for office visits went up $10...like she can afford it.

For THAT she worked her whole life.

Already happened to me more than a year ago, and I am neither young nor healthy. Individual premium was $558 per month, jumped to $920 per month. I was forced onto Medicare. No choice unless I wanted to go bankrupt.

My scrips also went up by about 40% each.

Thanks Obiteme!

I can’t say for certain Obamacare is to blame but right after it passed my insurance, which had never given me any problems started not wanting to cover one of my prescriptions (they kept pressuring me to try a different medication since the one I use does not come in a generic and is more expensive —I pay more for it but I’m sure they do too). I fought with them over it and finally won, but it was a tedious process in which I had to drag my doctor in and ended up without my medication for several days. I’m sure it is a cost cutting thing due to concerns they have over the new law.

Second, they have dropped one of my doctors from their network. My doctor doesn’t know why, he was simply told there were too many in his particular specialty in our area. What? Why would that matter? I suspect he runs too many tests, but who knows. All I know is I now have to pay out of network for him, so that while I pay for insurance I’m not really getting the full benefit of having it. Drat.

I really preferred the olden days in which my insurance company wasn’t in the business of choosing my medications or doctors and simply paid a percentage of my costs after I reached a deductible. I HATE HMO’s etc. And of course why do we have them? Govt intervention in the system if I recall.

Just wait until the doctor shortage kicks in.

We will be looking at the beginnings of a serious black-market for medical care

Also, off-shore medical treatment is going to grow rapidly, at least for Americans who can afford it.

THIS HAS GOT TO BE REPEALED AND REPLACED BY A SYSTEM THAT IS BENEFICIAL TO THE DOCTOR AND THE PATIENT... JUST WAIT UNTIL THE 700 BILLION DOLLARS THE ONE STOLE FROM MEDICARE TRUST FUND TO START AND FUND MEDICAID IN OBAMACARE....THEN ALL OF THE SENIORS WILL BE PUT ON MEDICAID....UNTIL THEN ALL PREMIUMS AND COPAYS WILL GO UP..IF YOU ARE 65 AND DON’T SMOKE YOU DON’T GET CHEST XRAYS,IF YOU ARE NOT ON BLOOD PRESSURE OR HEART MEDS, YOU DON’T GET AND EKG WHEN YOU GET A PHYSICAL..I GUESS ITS THEIR WAY OF POPULATION CONTROL...
ABO..........

I don’t want to replace Obamacare. I just want it GONE.

My sons got a letter about two weeks after the SC decided for Obamacare from their insurer. They stated flat out that they had been holding off because they were waiting to see what the SC did.

The second half of the letter started “Your premiums are now increasing...”

Of course it’s to blame.

We’re lucky enough to have a [R] doc who tells us every gory little detail of what’s being done and if you knew about the sneaking, scary things slithering in under the radar, you’d have a heart attack.

“Obamacare” is possibly the most insidiously evil and pernicious thing ever foisted upon the American people.

When the nurse comes in with her laptop-mainline-to-the-feds, we’re to say *nothing* about ourselves to her, as she records every word, other than we’re BOTH JUST FINE and save any actual complaints for his ears, only.

That’s how bad it’s gotten, already.

Big Bro is literally watching you.

I really hate that this all happens at a time in my life when I actually need healthcare.

I empathize a -lot-.

Recall when hubby had the 3x bypass and I pleaded for prayers?

Even just 2 years ago, they basically told him that ‘this is all ya get’ even though others have had multiple heart surgeries over the course of their life time [Dick Cheney, for example] and nobody ‘set a limit’ on how *many* chances they got.

Well, now they do.

You get *one*, if you’re damned lucky.

Of course, Obyeme and his benighted mob will ~always~ get the best of care for life, no matter the cost or number of procedures.

*What* “equal rights”?

The very wealthy and the elites will always get the best care. Always.
The most frustrating thing to me is we spent our lives playing by the rules, saving and making sure we took care of ourselves (and our kids I might add). And now that we are hitting *that age* it appears that everything is going to be dismantled. It’s hard to really explain how frustrating that is. I don’t expect the govt to take care of me. I don’t expect anyone else to take care of me. I just don’t expect the rules to be changed in midstream. And I hate what they’re doing to my kids and grandkids. And it makes me even angrier that people who didn’t play by the rules or make any provisions for themselves will reap the benefits.
