LGBT groups stand in solidarity with the FRC [Southern Poverty Law Center issues its statement]
Washing Post National ^ | Aug 16 2012 | Becky Garrison

Shortly after the... shooting of a security guard at the Family Research Council’s (FRC) headquarters..., Truth Wins Out, a non-profit organization that fights anti-gay religious extremism, posted the following press release:

"This is an awful tragedy and our thoughts and hearts go out to the victim, his family, and his colleagues at the Family Research Council,” said Truth Wins Out Executive Director Wayne Besen. “In America we settle political differences through robust debate in the public square, not with violence. If the shooting is found to be politically motivated, it is a detestable act of cruelty and cowardice and the perpetrator should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. We stand squarely with the Family Research Council today and offer them our full support and prayers."

...

Besen added his name a statement issued by Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and signed by 25 LGBT groups.

"We were saddened to hear news of the shooting this morning at the offices of the Family Research Council. Our hearts go out to the shooting victim, his family, and his co-workers. The motivation and circumstances behind today’s tragedy are still unknown, but regardless of what emerges as the reason for this shooting, we utterly reject and condemn such violence. We wish for a swift and complete recovery for the victim of this terrible incident."

The Southern Poverty Law Center, a civil rights organization that added the FRC to its list of hate groups that it monitors, issued the following statement:

"There are unconfirmed reports that the shooting was ideologically motivated. We condemn all acts of violence and are following the story closely."

... At this time, no major LGBT groups claim to have a direct connection to [the shooter].

Other than the fact that he worked for one.

I guess no *Major* group gives them wiggle room in their twisted little minds...

Yes, I do not doubt that the condemnation of violence is sincere, as in the case of your friend.

It would have been insane, for instance, on many levels, had gay groups come out in favor of the shooter (although some individual gays did say, “FRC had it coming .”)

Most reasonable people do in fact condemn violent crimes.

I’m just pointing out that this does not undo their hypocrisy nor their harm of the past years.

Slightly better than Muslims’ regular failure to refute terrorism.

I just saw the FRC spokesman talking about how the SPLC “created the environment” for the attack by labling them a “hate group”. Interesting because that’s the term the SPLC has used in suing various skinhead and Klan groups. I would dearly love to see the SPLC hoisted on their own petard.

But they still consider FRC and FoTF to be “hate groups”.

Yes, they do.

But I wager they may be more careful in the future about repeating this constantly, as they have been for the past 2 years.

So would I. It would be justice to see the sword enter back into their own heart.

BINGO!

I called this one!

"Some attempted to connect the shooter to the Chick-Fil-A boycotts based on material found in his backpack, as well as link him to LGBT organizations..."

Obviously confirmed by the sympathy press releases.

And more proof that they are starting more and more to respond to the conservative media - even if they don't wanna admit it.

Interesting how WaPo is scrubbing all the comments. They scrubbed mine. And say there is only one comment despite how long the story has been up.

Can you imagine what all the real comments are saying that they feel they have to delete every one of them? There must be thousands of them by now.

The Left hopefully soon is in fully panic retreat mode. People in this country are finally getting angry about the lawlessness of the Left, from Obama on down.

Yes, it seems so. I think they are in panic mode, and I think the right is finally fed up. No wonder Washington Post wants to clean up the comments section. The tide is turning, and right around election time... ;-)

They can keep their “solidarity” crap. They are directly responsible for this attack through their homoNazism.

Sorry, but this is a war. You don’t accept condolences from the enemy.

Of course you’re right. As a poster said, the gays are only in “cover-your-ass mode” with this display of ‘solidarity’.
