First, some background:
Minnesota Democrat state lawmaker Kerry Gauthier is involved in a sex scandal involving oral sex with a 17-year-old boy at a rest stop, and solicitation for the same on Craig's List. Go HERE for more.
Of course, the MSM has not picked up much on this story - if it was a Republican, we'd be "Foley'd". While part of the problem is MSM bias, the other part is the relative silence of GOP lawmakers on the subject. In fact, only Democrats have really called for his resignation. This can, and must, be remedied with a few simple actions. Please take a few minutes and work with me here.
First, we must get the attention of local Minn. Republicans - who we can overwhelm and force to at least face the issue, with a few hundred phone calls. Let them know that we think this is a HUGE deal.
bttt
I think the problem is that it is a state rep. Foley, Weiner, etc were U.S. Reps, holding federal office. Even people like McGreevy were governors.
FYI the Duluth newspaper did have an article about this when it broke (I believe they actually broke it) but has had nothing since. Nothing about the democrat leaders calling on him to resign.
The fact that he is a Democrat lawmaker is enough, IMHO. Let the Dems protest that he’s “only” a State Rep.
A GOPer would be hounded out of office for flirting with adults through text messages.
Anyone even thinking of sex with a minor should be shot in the face.
Exactly. Unfortunately, it is up to us to generate the outrage.
Thank you for your contribution to the discussion. Your application for a position with the Thought Police will be arriving in your mailbox shortly.
You’d likely have to shoot nearly every guy working out in a co-ed gym, more than likely some of the women and then of course decimate huge swaths of population for watching the Olympics and them not realizing just how young some of the competitors are until told. But hey, they thought about it.... shoot them.
its only news worthy when its a Republican apparently
Wow.
I think the age of consent in MN is 16. Nothing to see here, move along.
Seems we’re making some headway... keep calling!
The problem is the that GOP has too many Congressmen who are in the closet. The GOPe will do nothing to call attention to Dem gay sex scandals because homosexuality is a badge of honor in that party and pretty much ensures defeat in the Republican Party when becomes publicly known.
Why do you think no one has made an issue of Obama’s sexual orientation? As state and U.S. Senator, Obama liked his older white men...and they weren’t just Democrats.
I think you are probably right/
Too many other closeted Homo’s in both parties.
No sense in up setting the apple cart.
This issue isn’t homosexuality... the issue is that a Democrat is soliciting underage sex and then following through at rest-stops - he’s a sex predator. Even though this victim was 17, and above the age of CONSENT, he is still a minor.
right on
Respectfully, I disagree.
It is not only pedophilia -
it is PEDERASTY.
Yes and ewwwwwww...
BTTT
Yes, disgusting to the extreme.
I hope not to be too much of a one-note-johnny on this point,
but ‘mere’ pedophilia, as evil as it is, DOES serve to obfuscate what’s REALLY going on.
As you probably know (FReepers know stuff) - even pedophilia is being dumbed-down, softened in its definition, so the word serves as a perfect cover to obscure the very homosexual nature of the thing.
This story has dominated the News-Tribune’s front page since it broke and the paper has editorially called upon Gauthier to resign.
Today’s article:
http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/event/article/id/240844/
“Gauthier says he’ll run for re-election: Dayton urges him not to”
Thanks for the article. We need to get this into the NATIONAL news. That won’t happen if prominent GOPpers aren’t talking about it. Help make them by making a few simple calls.
I only look at the online version. It wasn’t there when I looked this morning.
I did give them credit for breaking the story.
It is interesting that on the online DNT site no comments are being allowed on these stories.
I subscribe to the print version so I see it every day.
Point being they have done a solid and thorough job covering the story.
It sure is interesting. DNT has a large number of highly prolific commenters who would certainly have something to say. (I am not one, however).
They have a couple of very decent reporters there, which is rare in a smaller market paper. The editor is an imported Chicago liberal though.
BTTT
He is likely to try doing more of the same and he will get caught yet again. If the Dems ignore this for the sake of keeping a single State, they will be shooting themselves in the foot.
They have to know that.
