FRIENDLY FIRE ALWAYS HITS YOU IN THE BACK
Christians Uniting for Political Action ^ | August 22, 2012 | Calvin Morrow

A good friend of mine said that, ”If we can get past the brethren we can engage the enemy”. If Todd Akin shot himself in the foot with his recent comments on the abortion issue, then it’s fair to say that the GOP, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Sara Palin, John Ashcroft, Mr. Blunt and a host of others shot him in the head. None of the people represented the voters of Missouri; they represented liberal media and the GOP establishment. What Todd said, in reality didn’t amount to a hill of beans, but the media made it a mountain, and the leaders on our side joined them. This was a sad day for several reasons. When the conservative media forget that they have made incredible inroads into mainstream media and backslide into being fearful of how liberals portray them, then it’s a sad day. Are they so naïve to think that the left won’t try to knock down the next potential candidate? Where will they stand then? We don’t know.

If the GOP and Conservative talkers would have put one fourth of the energy that they put into trying to run Todd out of town, into supporting him, he might have had a ten point lead in the polls this morning. Instead they took their cues from the liberals and marched in unison off the edge of the cliff. Be forewarned, we the Tea Party of Missouri will not follow. We don’t need others to do the thinking for us. We are free men and free women. We appreciate good leadership from those in positions of influence; but this wasn’t leadership. This was an insult to the good people of Missouri. We don’t care what the liberal media says, and neither should our leaders.

Todd Akin was out spent ten to one and won. That win was another victory for the Tea Party. When Todd Akin defeats Claire McCaskill it will send a strong signal to the GOP establishment. They will have the choice of working out in the open with the Democrats to defeat conservatives or change their tune. The Tea Party candidates are quickly replacing the old guard and it won’t be long before the transformation is complete. Todd Akin is a very attractive candidate to the voters, because he wasn’t GOP approved; of course their support would have been welcomed, but so be it as it may.

Todd Akin is by all reasonable measurements is rock solid, therefore I urge all Missourians to gird up your loins. Find ten unregistered friends and get them registered and bring them to the polls in November to vote for Todd Akin.

“What Todd said, in reality didn’t amount to a hill of beans, but the media made it a mountain, and the leaders on our side joined them.”

Again, and again, and again, and again. How long will we endure this?

The liberal media LOVE Akin. They not only want him to stay in the race they want him as the GOP poster boy. No wonder he was their favorite candidate in the primary and the beneficiary of cross over voters and Dem advertisements.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Finally, a voice of reason.

I am so disgusted with my former heroines (Malkin, Coulter, Palin) for jumping on the "Akin is an idiot and must go" bandwagon.

I am disgusted with Mitt Romney and Scott Brown too, although I must say neither of those guys was a hero to me.

Otoh I am heartened by Rush Limbaugh today. He is still equivocating, but at least he never jumped on the bandwagon.

Look folks, it is NOT "idiocy," what Akin said. What he said was not scientifically implausible. There are respected doctors who agree with him (e.g. Dr. John C. Wilkie, MD, OB/GYN).

Akin was, at most, guilty of clumsy phrasing. THAT'S ALL. Clumsy phrasing, after an apology, should not be a FATAL ERROR.

So those of you out there parroting the Left and spreading irresponsible memes like "Magic Uterus" -- stop it!

And Sarah Palin, for God's sake, stop promoting the idea of an independent candidacy. That is a sure-fire loser. McCaskill will take the state if voters split the vote.

Like Rush, I still say there is a good chance Akin can win. People who don't know Missouri should NOT pontificate about what the voters should do -- or will do.

And oh btw, I'm a woman. I've had five pregnancies. Therefore my comments, and beliefs, about female physiology and abortion politics cannot be dismissed, like they are for men. /s

What he said was the language of someone half- informed. What is more he has not learned what he should have said, because he has this wrong information in his head. Sort of like George Romney saying that the military had brain-washed him. Sort of like Quayle misspelling that food. They will never let him forget. The D’s will be saying” War on women” and women will be saying, he said WHAT? If only he had said this before the primary election!

Excellent statement. The GOP circular firing squad has been in full effect the past two days. Morons every one of them.

I think the issue is not Akin’s clumsy comments, but his apparent belief that rape victims should be compelled by law to bring their children to term. I would rather be talking about the economy. But the question has been emphasized by the media and is therefore on people’s minds.

But the Lord works in mysterious ways . . .

NO... Tod Akin inserted himself wearing his stupid suit... what he said was stupid, the way he said it was stupid, and now he simply looks stupid... he went into media interview, he should have known what would be thrown up in his face, he should have had a simple, smart answer, he did not. He is an embarrassment. He has singlehandedly sucked all the oxygen out of the room, and now it is all about him, TODD AKIN, the imbecile from Missouri... oh yah, I’ll vote for him, what freeking choice do I have, not happy about it to say the least. Damn stupid!!

He has handed the Dims a sword. I know what he meant to say, and he was wrong to say THAT. What is the case is that women DO have a degree of control over getting pregnant. Some woman do not get pregnant because they fear pregnancy, even though they want to have children. Women generally tend to reduced their pregnancies where the culture oppose large families, or if they==women-—come to realize the advantages of smaller families, EVEN if artificial birth control devises are rare.

The Texas law overthrown by Rpe. v. Wade allowed abortion for rape and incest. This was the toughest abortion law in the country which is why Sarah Weddington went after it. Some people in the Pro-life movement have forgotten that this is not a Catholic Country. Abortion will never be universally outlawed.

And now Scott Brown wants to invite the pro abortion crowd into the big tent.

That’s not friendly fire, that’s a fragging.

I don’t know what he said or what he was trying to say. I have found it best to stop and take a deep breath before kicking someone to the curb. I do know that opponents like it when you panic. When the Democrats, and their media lackeys start to attack, attack them back. You don’t win going on the defensive. Just smile and refute their comments. If this guy needs to go, then we do it after consideration. Let coulter and her Democrat friends panic.

He must be persuaded that NO ONE will votes for him, except the members of his family, or those who vote alphabetically.

Exactly! Hannity and Malkin really ticked me off yesterday.. I’m sad Levin jumped on that same bandwagon. Pure Tunnel Vision! I’m getting so sick of political pundits knee jerk reactions.

No, he shot himself in the head. Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Sara Palin, John Ashcroft, Mr. Blunt and a host of others are merely pointing it out to him.

He, unfortunately, keeps saying "It's only a flesh would"

What Todd said, in reality didn’t amount to a hill of beans

What he said was incredibly stupid. It hurt the party, it hurt the pro-life movement, by making it harder to regain the senate, it hurt America. It was incredibly insensitive to rape victims. ("You're pregnant, that proves it wasn't really rape. I bet you really liked it when that gang of thugs beat the hell out of you then ravaged your body").

Being smart enough to be a senator is an incredibly low bar, but he doesn't get over it. He has got to go.
